    Looking Backward
Escape to Rome in this charming apartment, ideal for a romantic break. The unique round bed is the home's centrepiece, and while there isn't a regular TV here, the projector screen turns the living space into your very own home cinema. The kitchen is small and best suited to light snacks, but there's an array of restaurants right on your doorstep for tucking into the local cuisine. Hotspots like Rome's Botanical Garden, the River Tiber, and the ancient Pantheon aren't far to walk, so you won't need to worry about driving here. If you do wish to explore a little further afield though, you'll find public transport nearby. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible. *This home is on the third floor with no lift, so climbing stairs will be required here.*This home is in an apartment building in a central location, so there is a chance you might hear some outside noise d...More Details

    Eva's Nest
Sleek and sophisticated with a dash of luxe, Eva's Nest is a superb choice for its enviable location just minutes from Via Condotti and Piazza di Spagna. Perfect for any group seeking the buzz of the historic centre, this space is equally ideal for some much-needed R\u0026R after long days on your feet. Plush velvet, wood floors, elegant gilding, and soft tones echo the colours of Rome while light - airy bedrooms, each with a contemporary en-suite, offer extra privacy. Although the kitchen is compact, the large dining area and charming balcony offer lovely spaces for eating in. *The apartment overlooks Via del Gambero which is lined with shops so you’ll likely hear some regular street noise from below*Though well equipped, the kitchen is quite compact and narrow so there won’t be space for too many chefs in the kitchen*The home is on the second floor of a building without a lift so there are a few stairs to climb on arrival Air Condi...More Details

    Wild Bunch
It's hard to imagine a better location for this smart studio apartment, set equidistance between Rome's majestic Vatican City and the upmarket streets of the Prati district. Get off to a flying start with a coffee to go and a stroll around the Vatican's Museums (eleven minutes on foot) to marvel at some of Italy's most revered artworks. When thoughts turn to food, the bustling streets of Prati (twelve minutes on foot) will easily deliver tasty tapas and a glass of something chilled. Then hop over the river to discover Rome's historic centre (half an hour on foot) – or there's a metro station just three minutes from your door if you'd rather give your feet a rest. And when it's time to escape the crowds, take to the green hills of Parco di Monte Ciocci (ten minutes on foot) to admire panoramic views of St. Peter's Basilica – best seen at sunset. Back at home, while this fresh, modern apartment may be compact, we think it's rather perfect...More Details

This apartment places you in central Rome and is ideal for work trips and weekend breaks. While the living area is small and storage is tight, both bedrooms are comfortable with fold-out futons for fifth and sixth guests. There's also on-site parking available for a fee. You're in for a convenient and simple stay here – your host can help arrange airport transfers and someone will meet you when you first arrive to ensure you get settled and answer any questions. *At full capacity, two guests will sleep on fold-out futons – there is one in each bedroom. *Your host can provide a free cot and high chair if you're travelling with little ones. *This home is in an apartment building in a central location – there is a chance you may hear outside noise during your stay. *The stove in...More Details

Despite its position in an old, atmospheric square near Campo de’ Fiori, Falconry has been renovated recently, and most of the furniture has been made to measure, making the whole place feel very well crafted. Everything fits together, from the parquet floor to the various lamps, and even the terrace is taken care of, and not an afterthought. High up among the rooftops, it feels like a little refuge from the hectic city below. *The lift only goes up to the sixth floor, so you'll have to climb the stairs for the last stretch*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room*The bedroom is on the small side Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBlenderCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCleaning ProductsCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherDrying RackExtra Pillows and BlanketsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFreezerFridgeHair DryerHangersIronIroning BoardKettleKitchenKitchen UtensilsLaptop Friendly WorkspaceLibrary of BooksLift ...More Details

Simple yet practical with an emphasis on comfort and privacy, rather than any delusions of grandeur, this home offers a humble stay that provides a relaxing atmosphere to return to after action-packed trips out in Rome. Where the apartment really comes alive is in the personality of the space. Strange as it might seem, the home has something of a sense of humour and playfulness that manifests itself in the design and decorations. Mid-century furniture creates a rather European set-up as it's clear from the moment you step inside that you're on holiday in Italy. House plants, terracotta bedroom walls and quirky artwork set the scene for an authentic stay with bags of character. Since Rome's world-renowned sights are all within close reach, you'll have an idyllic base from which to explore the city with ease. Take a ten-minute stroll to Villa Borghese or hop on the easily accessible bus and tram lines to visit tourist attractions further ...More Details

Positioned bang in the heart of the historic Trastevere district of Rome, there's no better location than this elegant escape – especially if it's a picturesque and authentically Italian experience that you're looking for. Along the cobbled streets, endless eateries, bars and boutiques welcome both locals and tourists with open arms. You'll see people sipping Aperol spritz in the summertime, and red wine come winter, but out on the terraces whatever the weather. Dubbed as the historic centre of Rome, this humble home boasts an idyllic location, just minutes from the city's most notable museums and monuments. Stroll across the River Tibet for twenty-five minutes and you'll wind up at the Roman Forum where you'll spend hours exploring and unearthing its history. From there continue on to the Colosseum, before heading back home for some well-deserved downtime. Enjoy panoramic views over the neighbouring rooftops as you take the elevator up...More Details

    Unicorn's Mane
On a quiet street near San Giovanni in Laterano, this eclectic apartment offers a haven to return to after a day in the bustling centre. Though the neighbourhood is quiet, you’re still only a fifteen-minute stroll away from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. If you don’t fancy stretching your legs, the Manzoni metro station is a three-minute walk, putting all of Rome at your fingertips. This loft apartment is a mix of glamour and kitsch – think gilded mirrors, leopard-print throws and thick, red velvet curtains. Though the arched windows and exposed beam ceiling reassure that you’re in an old quarter of Rome. The eclectic fireplace set in a traditional mantle is a nice homely touch too. *While there is a double sofa bed, there's no separation between that and the upstairs bed, so we wouldn't recommend using it*The bathroom is really very small*Not everyone will fall for the kitsch design theme*Though there is no official, set welcome packa...More Details

    The Sunflower Blossom
Situated in the town of Sezze, this villa is a place for a family or group of friends to recoup after long days spent exploring the Latium coast and surrounding countryside. With a private pool, and a dining terrace complete with a barbecue, we imagine you’ll spend most of your time outside. The interiors are in keeping with the building's history and can feel a little dated in parts, but everything works well, and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. Though if you’d prefer to eat out, restaurants are within walking distance. *Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.*While one of the bathrooms isn’t photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.*The swimming pool isn't fenced. If you're bringing little ones, they'll need to be supervised at all times.*If you need to pick up provisions during your stay, there’s a small supermarket a...More Details

    Roma Retreat
In the heart of Rome, this historic apartment sits between the bustling Piazza Navona and the endless museums of the Vatican City. Rome’s major attractions – the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Colosseum – are all within walking distance, and the streets are packed with restaurants, gelaterias and pavement cafes. You don’t need to leave the apartment to appreciate the city’s history though, with ancient relics in the courtyard and carved wood ceilings. Designed to remain cool before the days of air-conditioning, there’s not a lot of natural light inside. While the living room is plenty big and the kitchen has everything you need for meals at home, the second double bed is small and fairly open so would best suit kids. *This apartment is on the first floor of a building without a lift. You'll need to be comfortable climbing a flight of stairs to reach the entrance. *One of the bedrooms has a small double bed and is in a fairly open space o...More Details

    Stealing Beauty
This home, situated in the gorgeous Italian countryside, just a twenty-minute drive from Rome, offers a unique experience. Each and every piece inside this villa has been lovingly chosen by the owners, whose clear passion for art and design is evident at every step. We love the spacious living area, filled with an abundance of interesting art, books, and other artefacts, without ever feeling cluttered. The stone floors and wooden details on the ceiling add to an ambience of grandeur, while plenty of comfy sofa space invites you to lounge about and absorb the home’s spellbinding charm. There is also a bright, well-equipped country kitchen, where you can easily rustle up an Italian-inspired feast, best enjoyed alfresco, in the villa’s huge garden. There is a feeling of tranquillity here that’s almost of another time – a feeling which is reinforced by the proximity to ancient villages and the medieval Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sorbo. Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight (and ten, at a stretch) in the Jewish Quarter isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight and has a view as good as Teatro’s is even harder. It looks down onto the Largo di Torre Argentina, which holds the ruins of four temples and Pompey’s Theatre. It’s a fantastic spot, and Teatro makes the most of it, with a simple design intended to not interfere. *Even though this in a restricted-traffic zone, it's very busy outside and you can expect some noise*The fake plants in the living room feel a bit unnecessary*While as many as ten people can stay here, there are only two bathrooms (as well as a separate toilet)*As is quite common in Italian homes, the washing machine is on a balcony outside*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentr...More Details

    Cascading Eternity
Seventies nostalgia meets medieval majesty at this stylish home in Tivoli. Nestled right in the heart of town, just steps from Villa d'Este, it boasts a covetable location and breathtaking views. The interior exudes an ambience of calm and sophistication, cloaked in rich earthy tones and floods of sunlight. We love the open-plan living space, channelling an early-seventies design aesthetic through clean lines, low-slung furnishings and a free-flowing layout. By contrast, the fully-equipped kitchen's vibrant colour scheme and elaborate tiling offer a playful space for culinary creativity.Perched on the fifth floor, the magnum opus of this home is the outdoor space. After a restful slumber, open the timber-framed glass doors and step out onto the expansive terrace for spectacular views across Tivoli's ancient rooftops. A Roman Retreat
Nestled in the heart of the historic centre and just a few steps from the Campo de Fiori market and the Majestic Piazza Navona, this apartment promises a comfortable retreat for a memorable city stay. Pastel-hued and characterful in style, the open-plan living space is a treat for a large group. The bedrooms will suit a close group, with a double and a single sharing one bedroom and a semi-open plan fifth bedroom – that said, with Rome’s sights on your doorstep, you’ll be springing out of bed in the morning to experience the sights. The Pantheon, Saint Peter and the Imperial Forum, and Museo di Roma are within walking distance, as are the city’s best boutiques and restaurants. *One of the double bedrooms is linked by a glass door to the twin bedroom, and they have their own en-suite bathroom – perfect for families.*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.*Your host can provide a cot and a hi...More Details

In the warren of alleyways that tangle their way between Piazza Navona and the Tiber, even the approach to Isolda feels essentially Roman. Once inside, you’re surrounded by heavyset original features, which draw you further into the atmosphere. The downside of these old buildings is the lack of natural light, but when that’s the case for every home around, it feels churlish to complain. *The only bathroom is the en-suite*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed, but they wouldn't have much space*Despite the fantastic location, there's no view to speak of* For those who like supported sleep - the mattress here is on the softer side*For longer stays, we recommend bringing your own toiletries - there will be a basic amount to get you started*Some parts of this home may feel a little dated and worn*There is limited storage here - we recommend packing light Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild Fr...More Details

    Roman Glory
This charming apartment is a superb base for those seeking a peaceful stay in Rome. It’s slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the touristy hotspots but is close to the Vatican, tucked away on a quiet street. It’s easy to explore the rest of Rome using public transport – Cipro metro station is a short walk away. You’ll have a balcony to sip your morning coffee on and a practical kitchen for dining at home. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the open-plan living and dining space, so if you’re hoping for more privacy we’d stick to a maximum guest count of four. *Parking in Rome can be tricky so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport system – Cipro metro station is a short walk away. *At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space. La Vetreria
Perfect for art-lovers and history-buffs, La Vetreria is a unique hideaway full of lovingly preserved rustic elegance. Set in an old glassworks studio, this loft-style space has been recently restored — by the architect husband of the host, no less — and you will find an eclectic mix of contemporary furnishings set against stunning original stonework and an impressive arch in the middle of the living space. We love the way this stands in contrast to the glass mezzanine bedroom. Located slightly away from the busy tourist spots, you can enjoy an authentic slice of Roman life whilst being an easy walk from Termini Station. If you're ever in the mood for ice cream, the much-loved Gelateria La Romana is just up the road. * A fifth guest can be accommodated on the sofa-bed in the living space, although this does take up the communal space* The second bedroom is on the mezzanine level accessible by a wooden staircase without a railing — this...More Details

    Flight 251
If it wasn’t for the old, exposed-stone walls, you’d think you’d stepped into a wendy house for grown-ups at this unique apartment. There are the outright eccentric touches like the aeroplane seats (complete with seatbelts and the interior of a fuselage) in front of the projector screen, and the small, quirky details like rainbow-bright dinnerware, fire-engine-red cabinets and huge paperclips on the walls. The bedroom is slightly more subdued, in terms of colour, but no less flamboyant. A vaulted, cathedral-style ceiling and archway optical illusion on the wardrobes gives the feeling of being in an ancient chapel. While the bathroom features a wall of art reminiscent of the Rennaisance greats. Set in an ancient park said to be where the she-wolf found Romulus and Remus, you’re a short walk from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The streets around are surrounded by trattoria and gelato shops and there’s a historic monument nearly everywhere...More Details

    Gladiator Stripes
Decked out in intense colours and on the fourth floor with no lift, Gladiator Stripes isn’t one for the faint-hearted. We’re big fans of the look though, and it’s clear that the place is very well-kept. The host, Mary, also pushes the boat out when it comes to service - there’s a daily cleaning service and someone at reception until 11pm, as well as free laundry, great breakfast options, and recommendations of all the places tourists don’t know about. *Both sofas in the living room are really a cross between sofas, beds and benches*There's no lift in the building – you'll have to climb up four floors*Taller guests should know that the shower is only 190cm high*Guests 3 and 4 will be on the sofas in the communal area Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDryerFire ExtinguisherFireplaceFirst Aid KitFree Parking On PremisesFree Park...More Details

Simply put, Paparazzi is stylish, well-kept and right in the middle of Rome. Domenico is incredibly attentive as a host, and always ready to help, and while there are a few issues that we found, the majority were unavoidable given the age and positioning of the building (fairly slow wi-fi, for example), and the positives far outweigh the negatives. The apartment has been redone recently and you can really tell, particularly in the bathrooms, which feel very modern and sleek. *The apartment's in a narrow alleyway, so it doesn't get much natural light*Not every bed has a bedside table*When we visited there were a few of signs of carelessness – a couple of bulbs had gone and the sugar was in an open packet*There's no lift in the building, so be ready to haul your bags up the stairs*Not all windows close fully – expect to hear some street noise from below*We think the kitchen could be stocked with more crockery and utensils Air Conditioni...More Details

    Colour Field
The bright, vibrant hues are the first things that strike you about this funky apartment. There’s a cohesion between the colourful design of the different rooms, yet at the same time, each maintains its own character. Through to the living room, where abstract artwork adorns the striking red wall and eclectic objects fill whitewashed bookshelves. While the statement art pieces and bright decor add interest, they're not the only things we love about this home. In fact, the light-filled kitchen with elegant ghost chairs is the perfect spot for starting the day with a continental breakfast. We also really like the marble floors throughout the apartment, and the granite kitchen backsplash – in fact, in most parts of the flat – the attention to detail is praiseworthy. Step outside of the building, to find yourself in the cultural heart of the world's most ancient city. Positioned between the Villa Medici and Trevi Fountain, whichever way you...More Details

    Lemon, Anise - Liquorice
Stay in the centre of Rome and still feel like a local – it sounds almost like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? But at this apartment, just off the main track between the Pantheon and the Jewish Quarter, you’ll find yourself an easy three-minute walk from the Pantheon, five minutes from Piazza Navona, eleven minutes to the Trevi Fountain and twelve minutes to the Roman Forum. But unlike other parts of the city, locals don’t avoid your street – in fact, they dine right near it. Explore the best of Rome from this bright, charming home. We love the parquet flooring and the small but perfectly outfitted patio – it’s the ideal spot for an evening aperitif. If you crave more sunshine, the apartment has access to a shared rooftop patio with beautiful sunset views. And at the end of a long day spent exploring the Eternal city, you’ll find thoughtfully laid out bedrooms with lovingly restored antique furniture. *The air conditioning is only in the li...More Details

    Brick Harbour
A haven of comforting minimalism, this home may be compact but it has all the comforts you could hope for during a stay in Rome. We loved the exposed brickwork featured here and the original vaulted ceilings that blend classic Roman style with an industrial edge. The contemporary white decor lends a sleek finish to the home, creating a wonderfully calm space to relax after a day of sightseeing. Speaking of exploring, you’re on the edge of the historic centre here, meaning you’re away from the bustling tourist crowds but close enough to easily reach the city’s main sights on foot. In fact, step out of your home and you’ll see the Colosseum in the distance, less than a ten-minute walk away. The Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona are also walkable in thirty minutes. After a day of sightseeing, come back home for a long soak under the rainfall shower. If you have emails to send out, there’s a desk in the bedroom, but we recommend forgoing bus...More Details

    Charming Roman Rooftop
While this cosy attic apartment is a little off the well-trodden path, it benefits from a quiet, residential location. Yet, it’s just a fifteen-minute walk from the biggest sights of Rome – the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. The building dates back to the 1920s, and there’s no lift. But the climb up to the third floor feels worth it for the sunny rooftop terrace where you can dine alfresco. It’s a little spartan inside, but the bed is big and comfy and you’ll want to spend your time exploring the atmospheric streets of your ancient locale anyway. *There is room for two additional guests on the sofa bed in the living room, but it would be a bit of a squeeze.*This apartment is on the third floor of a building without a lift. The quantity of blue on display in Neptune isn’t for the faint-hearted. In all seriousness, it’s this theme that actually elevates the place and makes it unique. It’s certainly small – the lack of a living room isn’t ideal, it’s true – but the decorations, largely inspired by the hosts travels, are all rather tasteful, and contribute to the individuality of the place. The location’s also worth mentioning – it’s not particularly central, but the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano is right there, as is the Egyptian obelisk, which is the largest in the world. *There's no living room – the only communal space is the kitchen*Air conditioning is only available in the bedrooms*If you're staying on May Day, be aware that the square is the centre of the festivities in the cities Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherDryerHair DryerIronLift AccessMicrowaveMultiple Sets of KeysNetflixRain ShowerTVWashing MachineWel...More Details

Inside there are more of those inspiring views of the Eternal City to admire – they stopped us in our tracks when we visited – they look like paintings. The classic style living space has lovely polished wood floors, a feature fireplace and an ornate galleried landing. This home is ideal for a couple, business professional or family of three.Piazza del Popolo is a mere one-minute stroll from this home, or head to Terrazza del Pincio (four minutes on foot) – this 19th-century terrace with its fountains has fabulous views over to St. Peter's Basilica. It's the same walking distance to Villa Borghese Gardens, while Villa Medici is just over a ten-minute walk. Other attractions include the Spanish Steps, a twelve-minute saunter, and the Trevi Fountain, a twenty-minut...More Details

    Borromini's Rainbow
A truly one of a kind home in Rome’s historic Navona neighbourhood, this colourful apartment is full of fun details that we fell in love with. Housed in a 19th-century building just a four-minute walk from Piazza Navona, you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped into a rainbow from the moment you enter. A bright green hallway leads you into a yellow-hued kitchen and dining space, where a table and chairs invite you to enjoy the breakfast provided and sip your morning coffee in style. Head into the bedroom to be struck by lavender-coloured brick walls and funky wall art that gives the space plenty of contemporary flair. This modern vibe is juxtaposed beautifully with the home’s original features, like the beamed ceilings and the pair of cubby windows giving way to views of the medieval Via del Governo Vecchio below. When you’re not relaxing on the sofa and antique chairs, admiring the decorative curiosities (our favourite is the old Singer se...More Details

    Ambrosia View
Often, location is the most important consideration when choosing a home, and Ambrosia View has that down. At the end of the street (a gorgeous, cobbled alleyway), you have the Tiber, while Piazza Navona isn’t far in the other direction. The flat itself is small, but there’s no shortage of restaurants and wine bars in the area, so there’s plenty to do if you feel like getting outside. *While there is a double sofa bed, we wouldn't recommend it as it's in the same room as the main bed*This is a studio so space is at a premium*You'll have to take the stairs to the second floor as there's no lift*There's no oven or dishwasher*The only windows are on one side of the room, so it can get dark at the back Air ConditioningBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCot / CribDryerElectricity AdaptorsFanFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFree Parking On PremisesHair DryerHangersHigh ChairIronKitc...More Details

Beautifully kept, elegant, and filled with plenty of natural light, this charming home just fifteen minutes from the Vatican City really caught our eye. To stay here is to move into an authentically Roman home with a bucolic-styled kitchen, complete with a blue-tiled backsplash and sunny dining spot by the patio doors. Cosy up with a good book in the refined living area, while taking in the ornate mirrors and silver lighting. But the real highlight of this apartment is the private balcony – it's the perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine after a day spent sightseeing. Speaking of, the home's located away from the intense crowds and excited tourists in the quiet area of Aurelio, and yet getting around the city is easy with the nearest metro station a short two-minute walk away. Take a twenty-five-minute stroll to the Sistine Chapel or head in the other direction, and be at the Piazza Navona in thirty minutes – whichever way you turn...More Details

    Neptune's Eye
The terraces of this beautiful apartment overlook Piazza Navona, a lively square of gothic architecture and a neoclassical fountain at its heart. Cafés and restaurants spill onto the pavement and you can watch the street artists from your nest on high. It’s a real suntrap too, so loungers have been set up alongside the dining table and outdoor sofa. Inside, terracotta tiles and high ceilings create a cooling escape from the city heat, and houseplants stand out against pristine white walls. A little 60s-style bar in the living room is the best place to knock up an evening cocktail as you put your favourite song on the wireless speaker. Don’t worry about navigating your way to the Pantheon (a five-minute stroll) or the Roman Forum and Colosseum (a fifteen-minute walk) as the host provides a smartphone with unlimited international calls and internet, so you can stream maps and call a taxi without any hassle. *To reach the lift, there's a...More Details
