    Authentic Italian village house

Take a break from the heat and the bustle of the big city of Rome and experience living and remote working in an authentic Italian village, in your cozy home in Nemi. Nemi is located in the Alban Hills, a quiescent volcanic complex just outside (approx 20 km southeast) of Rome. The hills, especially around the shores of the lakes, have been popular since prehistoric times, and there are numerous villages and towns, . the Castelli Romani. Boasting wonderful views over the Roman countryside from its perch high above the lake with which it shares its name, beautiful Nemi is one of the Castelli`s must-visit destinations. The tiny historic centre is a character-filled tangle of narrow streets unfolding around imposing Palazzo Ruspoli and the adjacent piazza. Besides the spectacular panoramas, Nemi`s real draw is the local variety of strawberry: smaller than your average fragola, these little gems are bursting with flavour and can be...More Details

Moments from the Trevi Fountain, this apartment is a true Roman gem. It's in the heart of the city, so you'll be well-placed here to shop, dine, and sightsee. Inside, the two living areas are contemporary and comfortable, and one has a sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. But if you're anything like us, you'll make a beeline for the terrace – it's the perfect spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz as the sun goes down. *At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the second sitting room.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and children's tableware on request.*You'll have access to a shared back garden here. Colour Field

The bright, vibrant hues are the first things that strike you about this funky apartment. There’s a cohesion between the colourful design of the different rooms, yet at the same time, each maintains its own character. Through to the living room, where abstract artwork adorns the striking red wall and eclectic objects fill whitewashed bookshelves. While the statement art pieces and bright decor add interest, they're not the only things we love about this home. In fact, the light-filled kitchen with elegant ghost chairs is the perfect spot for starting the day with a continental breakfast. We also really like the marble floors throughout the apartment, and the granite kitchen backsplash – in fact, in most parts of the flat – the attention to detail is praiseworthy. Step outside of the building, to find yourself in the cultural heart of the world's most ancient city. Positioned between the Villa Medici and Trevi Fountain, whichever way you...More Details

    Roma Rossa

Sitting right in the heart of Rome’s historic centre with countless points of cultural interest on your doorstep, this comfortable apartment is an ideal base for those looking to make the most out of the Eternal City. Dressed in vibrant pops of red against a calming white palette, fashion meets cool simplicity in the home’s design. We love the parquet floors here that lend a note of classic charm, while the modern art hanging on the walls adds a dash of characterful flair to the proceedings. The scarlet accented kitchen is all set to host sociable breakfasts over fresh coffee and locally bought pastries, while the glass dining table is the perfect spot to gather for a celebratory Italian feast when you’re not out sampling the local trattorias. With a pair of pared-back yet wonderfully comfy bedrooms as well as sleek bathrooms to get any day off on the right foot, you’re all set for a carefree stay. Lemon Jelly

Just around the corner from the Spanish Steps, this plush little apartment is the perfect getaway to Rome. Walk just two minutes and you’re on Via Condotti, with its famed luxury shops and boutiques, running all the way to the Piazza di Spagna. You’re also within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and buzzing Piazza Navona. Apart from its super central location, this apartment has lots going for it. Natural light fills the living room from traditional old windows. From here, you can watch the world go by on your classically Roman street. Herringbone floors and high ceilings keep things feeling grand, and the palette of greys and teals makes for a soothing spot to return to after a day in the city. We love the enclosed balcony, where a dining area is surrounded on all sides by glass – the perfect sunny breakfast spot. There’s also a tiny terrace that catches rays of sunshine in the middle of the day, painted sunshi...More Details

    The Cool of Rome

A mere five minutes' walk from Campidoglio and Piazza Venezia, the prime position of this Rome home is incredible, but perhaps what's more impressive is that despite the central location, guests here get the run of an expansive palazzo that wouldn't look out of place in the Italian countryside.Spread across three levels, you're actually looking at two independent apartments stacked on top of the other, although it's perfectly easy to share these spaces if you're coming in a large group. The first is on the ground floor, where you'll find high ceilings, a large dining room and a pair of wooden doors that lead out to an equally spacious terrace complete with plenty of shady seating. The next two levels above this comprise the second apartment. The same contemporary approach to design has been embraced, but there are a couple of standout features up here — namely the Jacuzzi and sauna in the master bedroom that you have to hope the occupant...More Details

    Villetta Romana

Up on a hill in the breathtaking Roman countryside, this 19th century cottage combines rustic charm with modern comforts and a stunning setting. Nestled amongst pine trees in an estate overlooking the Marcigliana Nature Reserve, you are totally ensconced in nature and privacy. Original 19th century facets of the cottage have been preserved, like the wooden beamed ceiling, diamond paned windows, and stone fireplace, while down a grassy slope there is a private outdoor swimming pool with views down to the River Tiber. Start the day with a refreshing dip, before enjoying breakfast al fresco at the outdoor table. The cottage is on the outskirts of Settebagni, and cafes, shops and supermarkets can be reached within ten minutes on foot. The centre of Rome is easily reachable – just thirty minutes away by car, or forty five minutes door to door by train. For anyone who wants to explore the delights of a big city while having the serenity and s...More Details

    Viola Strings

Tucked away on a charming cobbled street just an eight-minute walk from Campo de' Fiori, this bright, modern apartment is just the ticket for those looking to be within easy strolling distance of some of Rome’s most historic sights. Though the building’s caramel-coloured exterior hints at a lofty history, the inside of this home is sparklingly modern with contemporary furnishings and a pared-back touch giving it plenty of style. Kick back on the sofa while enjoying a glass of Italian wine, or make yourself an espresso to enjoy by the windows that give way to views of balconies tumbling with greenery along your peaceful street. The bedroom is a chic and minimalist affair too offering a dreamy canvas for a blissful night’s sleep. Outside of your home, you’re just a nine-minute walk from Piazza Navona, a fifteen-minute stroll from the Pantheon, while the banks of the Tiber River beckon sunny ambles just a minute on foot from your door. *...More Details

    Roman Loft

We think this industrial-style loft makes for a memorable stay in the Eternal City. The decor mixes contemporary and character features – you'll find everything from exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings to a unique glass floor that overlooks the lounge. It's got plenty of space for everyone, and the extra touches like board games and snacks are much appreciated. Plus, the location is fantastic for exploring near and far. Both the Colosseum and the metro station are within walking distance. Shops and restaurants are easily reached on foot, too. *Although there's a lift in the building, the upper floor here is only accessible by stairs.*The top-floor bedroom has a glass floor that overlooks the living area.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide up to two free cots on request.*The dining table can be used as a desk if you plan to work from home.*Parking isn't provided, but a car isn't needed in Rome. Roman Pomes

Within walking distance of Villa Borghese and the Trevi Fountain, this apartment is ideal for sightseeing. You'll have central Rome at your fingertips here, whether you're looking for restaurants, landmarks, or high-end shops. Despite its small size, the layout is functional for friends and families. The kitchen is compact but has everything you'll need to whip up light fare – although we think it's a great excuse to try the local eateries – and the bedrooms are bright if a little snug. We think it makes a convenient, fuss-free base for those keen to spend most of their time exploring the city. *Though there's enough bed space for seven people here, we think it might feel a little cramped. We'd recommend a maximum guest count of four if you'd like ample room to socialise.*The kitchen is compact but well-equipped to rustle up lighter bites. However, there are only four chairs around the dining table.*If you're travelling with little one...More Details

Notations is fairly simple, but it’s comfortable, and does what it says on the tin. You aren’t going to come across any nasty surprises. The living room’s a decent size, and it’s even got a small balcony (albeit an unfurnished one). This area of the city isn’t quite as evocative as some others, but the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica looms over the streets in an impressive manner. *Even though there's a lift most of the way, there are still some stairs you need to take to reach the flat*There's nothing wrong with the furniture, but it's not designer*When we measured the wi-fi it was very slow*The heating is controlled centrally by the building, so you won't have control over the hours that it's on*There's a single sofa bed in each bedroom, as well as a double sofa bed in the living room Accessible ParkingAir ConditioningAmazon PrimeBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking...More Details

    In Arcadia

Experience the Eternal City in the lap of luxury in this stunning palazzo, right in the heart of Rome's historic centre. Built in the early 16th century, esteemed Renaissance artist Giorgio Vasari considered this address one of the finest palaces in the city. Every inch of this breathtaking home has been painstakingly maintained, renovated, and in some cases, enhanced to create an opulent setting that celebrates its storied history and updates it for modern living. The vast living room is the jewel in the crown. Here, play billiards beneath museum-grade frescoes painted by many of the Baroque era's most famous artists, with eye-catching contemporary pieces adorning the walls and elegant furnishings sitting seamlessly alongside ornate original features. Each of the five bedrooms brings its own charm. You'll find three on the main level with soaring 30ft ceilings and two on the upper mezzanine floor that put you at eye level with exquisite...More Details

    Bellflower

Inside, Bellflower is large and comfortable, and while the design isn’t particularly avant-garde, the neutral colour scheme makes for a calming overall effect. The two balconies are also a nice touch, without being overwhelming. What does stand out, however, is the location. The Colosseum is at the end of the street (maybe 200m, at a stretch), yet because it’s on the less-frequented side, the streets are surprising free of tourists. *There are twelve steps to navigate before you reach the lift*The beds are very big, but it means that there isn't a tonne of free space in the bedrooms*Running all four showers at once might put some strain on the hot water*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room, if necessary Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsEspresso MachineExtra Pillows and Blan...More Details

    Two Wheels

This apartment may be in the heart of Rome, but there’s something distinctly country-chic about the decor. Period pieces – dressers, doors and the kitchen table – are all rough white-washed and feel rustic. The sound system is vintage, and the armchairs in the living room are upholstered in gloriously kitsch floral patterns. The jewel in the crown of the apartment is the sprawling outdoor terrace, which has sofas in sunny spots for a dose of vitamin D, and shaded nooks under parasols for when the heat gets too much. The bamboo pergola covered a couple of outdoor gas hobs, so you can cook and dine alfresco. Flowers and pot plants bloom for every corner and climb trellises for a bit of privacy. If you want to know just how central you are, just head out to the downstairs balcony and spot the Colosseum at the end of your street. *There's no lift and the flat is on the third floor of the building*We found a few scuff marks on the walls, pa...More Details

The large windows look out over Palazzo Torlonia and Via Bocca di Leone, and you’ll have plenty of restaurants and bars within easy reach. When you want to explore more of Rome, there are convenient metro lines nearby. The apartment boasts elegant old-world touches including chandeliers and wood-beamed ceilings. The Pop Dancers

The spirit of the sixties is alive and well in this brightly saturated home. Built in the 1970s and carefully restored to its original vintage glory by your current hosts, this colourful blast from the past is bursting with pop art prints, lush ferns and mid-century furniture. However, when it comes to amenities, this home just outside Rome is far from dated. Sink into the gorgeous Turkish bath and hydromassage tub for the ultimate relaxing soak or dive into the infinity pool to escape the heat of the sun. The courtyard is as artistic as the interiors, with trailing vines winding around stone columns and native florals perfuming the air – the perfect spot for an al fresco meal or a post-lunch nap. Stay out here and pour yourself an aperitif as the sun goes down on the breathtaking view over the Italian villages and hillsides below. *The pool is available for use from April to October only*We recommend bringing a car to explore the surr...More Details

    Monti Bella

We understand location is everything when visiting a city like Rome, and this spot in Monti is within easy walking distance of The Colosseum and the Roman Forum. While Rome is best explored on foot, you’ll also find Cavour metro station a few steps away. The apartment is minimal and a little dated in style, but perfectly practical for a city break, and while the click-clack style sofa bed accommodates a third and fourth guest, it might not suit those staying for longer than a couple of nights. Since the kitchen is better for light bites, we think you'll enjoy making the most of the culinary hotspots nearby. *At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. It's on the smaller side, so we think it's best for children.*This home is located within an apartment building. Three Stags

While you can’t actually see the Vatican walls from Three Stags, turn right out of the door and walk about twenty metres and they’re right there. It’s a great location, which is fitting as it’s a great flat. Rather than seeking to preserve a crumbling old flat, Valeria’s recently redone the whole place, updating it without losing the character of the original place. There’s tonnes of space, given that it only has one bedroom, so having a couple of extra people sleeping in the living room is no problem (though three might be a squeeze). *Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. While it’s not the most stunning place in the city, Fern Fronds is a really good practical option for a comfortable stay in Rome. It is small, but it was in perfect condition when we visited, and the bathrooms are great for the size. The Bathhouse

In among the original hills of Rome, The Bathhouse is completely surrounded by history. On one side, the Nero’s infamous palace – the Domus Aurea – and on the other, the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums. Its position alone would sell, but the flat itself is not underwhelming. It has lovely views, and the kitchen is pretty big for a place of its size. There’s an antique desk in the corner, which although not making as much sense as a breakfast table, is far prettier. *There's a double sofa bed and a single futon in the living room, but three would be too many for the space*There's a restaurant directly below the apartment so it sometimes gets a bit noisy*The shower only reaches a height of 180cm Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsExtra Pillows and BlanketsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFreezerFridgeHair Dryer...More Details

    The Terrace Palermo

Classical Roman style is on full display at The Terrace Palermo. From the grand piano, the antiques, the artwork, and even the rustic structure itself send a rush to the head as you enter – it’s not the kind of place you'll forget in a hurry. It’s unashamedly ornate, and over-the-top but deliciously so. Sit down in the regal living room with a good book, while noticing the ornamental fireplace, frescoed ceiling and 17th-century paintings. Those working from home during their stay will find a traditional reading room that will have you powering through like never before. To stay here is to move into a bygone era of Roman refinement and sophistication. And this is all before you even reach the rooftop sun terrace – from here, you can look across the picturesque skyline, taking in the Colosseum on one side and the Presidential Palace on the other. It comes complete with all the different types of garden furniture, from a dining table and c...More Details

    Blooming Marvel

Scoop up your beloved and escape to this Italian hideaway, squirreled away within the Botanical Park of San Liberato and fringing the volcanic lakeside town of Bracciano.Overlooking the lake and the rolling green countryside beyond, the setting of this private chalet is a beauty. Spend lazy days lapping up the sunshine from the poolside (which you'll share with just one other cottage), then pad back to the privacy of your wisteria-entwined veranda for shady alfresco lunches. Jack of Diamonds

Tucked away in the charming lakeside town of Anguillara Sabazia, this little bolthole is perfect for a pair of couples (or a couple of pairs), or a small family looking for a serene retreat. It’s a four-minute stroll to the shores of beautiful Lake Bracciano, and plenty of local trattoria and lakeside bars are in the streets surrounding the apartment. We love that this home provides a typical Italian Lakes escape, but you’re just a forty-minute drive from the iconic ancient sights of Rome’s centre. The apartment itself feels boutique and old-worldly at the same time with gnarled old wood beams lining the ceiling and exposed patches of stonework. The decor feels like a mix of beachy-breeze and ancient world with driftwood bedside lamps and boat oars alongside oil paintings. The open kitchen, living and dining room is a cosy spot to unwind in after a day by the lake, but it’s the proximity to the charming bars and restaurants of Anguillar...More Details

    L'Anfiteatro

The views from this home are spectacular – it feels like you could reach out and touch centuries-old stones with your hands. Perhaps the most iconic sight in a city of iconic sights, the Colosseum is visible from nearly every room in the home. It goes without saying then, that you’ll be in a prime location – a quick four-minute walk to the Roman Forum, six minutes to the Arch of Constantine, seventeen minutes to the Trevi Fountain and twenty-one minutes to the Pantheon. You’ll have all the bars, restaurants and shopping of Monti nearby to keep you entertained, while line B of the underground metro is located just below to building, connecting you all around the city. Beyond the views, you’ll find a large and comfortable home perfectly designed for accommodating groups and families. The living room is large and bright, with fun pop art prints and vibrant plants. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and of course, great views. Plus, there’s...More Details

    The Sun Saint

Not far from the Vatican, this apartment is an excellent family option. Though the living area isn't the largest, there's plenty of space across the five bedrooms. The kitchen is well-stocked if you fancy a home-cooked meal, but for something extra special, your host is happy to arrange a private chef for a fee. You'll also have access to a small balcony ideal for enjoying morning espressos and sipping sundowners. Location-wise, shops and restaurants are a short walk away, as is the iconic St Peter's Square. Further afield, but still within easy reach, are the city's other famous landmarks, putting you in a prime spot for exploring. *All five bedrooms, as well as the living room, are equipped with air conditioning.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and children's books and toys on request.*Please note that one of the bedrooms is a triple, which is best suited to children or adults who don't...More Details

    Gladiator Reef

Gladiator Reef is not one that will appeal to people who are after neutral tones and understated design. There’s a mix of bright colours all over the place, and this gives the space a bit of individuality. The host, Mary, also pushes the boat out when it comes to service - there’s a daily cleaning service, as well as free laundry, great breakfast options, and recommendations of all the places tourists don’t know about. If that wasn’t enough, it’s also only a few hundred metres from the Colosseum. *When we visited, there was no lift and the apartment is on the fifth floor. There should be one installed by August*It's a really small space - there's no communal area apart from the kitchen and balcony*There's no washing machine in the apartment, though Qu can sort out laundry for you*Internet allowance is capped at 1GB a day Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral ...More Details
