Instead of the very heart of Trastevere, Sky Queen is a little bit to the north. This is actually a fantastic location – you can avoid the hordes of revellers, and the Vatican is easy to reach, while the river is just at the end of the road. A quieter option in a lovely location, this home is perfect if you're looking for an authentic stay – with all the big attractions within a half-hour walk. The double-height ceiling and the large windows make this place bright and breezy, which is surprisingly rare for this neighbourhood as the narrow streets and old buildings often conspire to keep sunlight away. There's a sense of history, with beamed ceilings, and a modern twist thanks to the mezzanine bedroom floor and the floating stairs. A comfy sofa takes the prime position in the open-plan living space, with a handy desk area and a contemporary kitchen tucked away under the mezzanine. *The bed is on a mezzanine level that's open to the li...More Details

It’s easy to see the lengths that your host, Luca has gone to with this home to really bring a snug studio space alive—it’s full of interesting details which simultaneously stand alone and work in harmony to tie the place together. From the textured, botanical print wallpaper to the gold sunburst mirror and vitalising forest green accents, its quirkiness fits in well with the local area, famous for its individuality and bohemian spirit. Your next-door neighbour is pretty interesting too, you share a wall with the 600-year-old Church of Sant'Agata—fortunately, the bells no longer ring so you can indulge in plenty of lie-ins. Take to the meandering cobblestone streets where colourful buildings give way to wide-open piazzas and wandering side streets filled with rustic bars and authentic trattorias. What’s more, some of the city’s best attractions, like the Colosseum, Marcello Theatre and the Spada Gallery, are well within a thirty-minute ...More Details

    Glass Bonbon

Embracing Rome's identity as the world's oldest city, Glass Bonbon stands out for its stunning classical interiors featuring marble floors, antique furniture, glass chandeliers and traditional tapestry curtains. Elegant Roman touches adorn every room and incorporate Rome's vast history into the home's design. We particularly love the main living room's parlour-like entrance which gives way to an open space and its own bureau – perfect for guests who work remotely. Looking up at the high ceilings, notice the stunning artistic plasterwork – you'll discover that many of the original architectural features have been restored and protected over the years. When you've soaked it all up at home, it's time to venture and explore more of Rome's extensive history and breathtaking architecture. You'll be a twenty-five-minute metro journey from the city's iconic Colosseum and the ancient ruins of Rome, and even closer to Castel Sant'Angelo – a twelv...More Details

    Jack of Diamonds

Tucked away in the charming lakeside town of Anguillara Sabazia, this little bolthole is perfect for a pair of couples (or a couple of pairs), or a small family looking for a serene retreat. It’s a four-minute stroll to the shores of beautiful Lake Bracciano, and plenty of local trattoria and lakeside bars are in the streets surrounding the apartment. We love that this home provides a typical Italian Lakes escape, but you’re just a forty-minute drive from the iconic ancient sights of Rome’s centre. The apartment itself feels boutique and old-worldly at the same time with gnarled old wood beams lining the ceiling and exposed patches of stonework. The decor feels like a mix of beachy-breeze and ancient world with driftwood bedside lamps and boat oars alongside oil paintings. The open kitchen, living and dining room is a cosy spot to unwind in after a day by the lake, but it’s the proximity to the charming bars and restaurants of Anguillar...More Details

In the heart of Rome, strolling along its meandering medieval streets, you'll find Piazza of Santa Maria (three minutes on foot) – take a seat at one of the cafes here for a coffee or lunch. Then head over to Gianicolo Hill for incredible views of the Vatican's St Peter's Basilica, a fourteen-minute walk away. It's the same distance across the Ponte Sisto to Piazza Navona and a few minutes more to the Pantheon, while it's just over twenty-five minutes to the stunning Trevi Fountain (eighteen minutes by car).Back at this home, whip up an Aperol spritz and then have a rest on the chaise sofa after exploring the Eternal City. Timeless Voices

With the iconic Colosseum and Roman Forums just a ten-minute walk away – this spacious loft has a fabulous location. Just another couple of minutes will take you to Piazza Venezia, the central hub of Rome. It's the same distance to Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore, while Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, home to Michelangelo's famous Moses, is a four-minute stroll. A wide range of gourmet shops, eateries and wineries are also on your doorstep, as are galleries and chic boutiques.Situated down a typical alley in Rione Monti, we were surprised by how quiet this home is despite its well-placed position. Elder Statesman

With heaps of Italian soul and rustic charm, this quiet, well-kept and beautifully appointed apartment offers everything needed for that dolce vita. For the location, you're surrounded by local authenticity and just a seven-minute walk to the emblematic Colosseum. Find an assortment of eateries, wine bars and classy cafés to enjoy an alfresco lunch in the sun, before working off any over-indulgences with a gentle fourteen-minute stroll to Trevi Fountain – pennies at the ready. We also have to mention the apartment being on the cusp of Monti and Campitelli – both are full of beautiful piazzas, windy backstreets and family-run trattorias. Back home, we think there's somewhat of a contemporary Scandi feel, with plain bedspreads, pared-back furnishings and white shelved walls. Modern and minimalist, you'll also notice the elegant marble floors, quirky wallpaper prints and low-hanging light bulbs that we really loved. *While there's a lift ...More Details

    Renaissance Romance

Spread across three floors and boasting a private terrace, this Trastevere apartment is an absolute winner. If you're anything like us, you'll make a beeline for the outdoor space – it's the perfect spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz while gazing at the neighbourhood's rooftops. Inside, the antique furniture and character features give the whole pad a traditional feel – but that's all part of the charm. With two lounges, a dining room, and a collection of cosy bedrooms, you'll also have plenty of space. We love the location, too. This is one of Rome's prettiest (and oldest) districts, home to artisan shops, local trattorias, and a bohemian atmosphere that's hard to resist. *This home is in a building without an elevator. The entrance is located on the second floor, and the apartment itself is spread across three levels.*Some of the antique furniture here is a little dated and may not suit everyone's tastes.*This home does not accept groups...More Details

    Il Canarino

Part of a nineteenth-century palazzo building constructed in neoclassical style, this duplex apartment is actually way more modern than the exterior suggests. Large pieces of bold artwork and bright bursts of colour make the interior feel fresh and vibrant, while the minimalist staircase leading up to the cosy mezzanine bedroom is stylish as they come. It's immediately clear that the host has opted for quality when putting the space together, The yellow kitchen area was designed by Italian design firm Mudulnnova and is stocked with silverware and crockery from Villeroy \u0026 Boch. All this, and the location in the Centro Storico is outstanding, too. From the building's front door, look left and you'll see the sixteenth-century Chiesa del Gesù, while in the other direction, there's the ancient site of Largo di Torre Argentina where Julius Caesar was assassinated. The Pantheon only takes six minutes to reach on foot, too. *The bedroom i...More Details

    The Peddler - The Lady

A former 17th-century trading station, this characterful building now houses cosy apartments that hark back to the neighbourhood's heritage. With original timber ceilings, shuttered windows overlooking the city streets and hexagonal tiled floors, this flat radiates Roman ambience. But rainfall showers, a sleek kitchen and sumptuous sofas provide plenty of 21st-century comforts. Rustle up antipasti and share it around the roomy dining table alongside a bottle of Italy's finest wine – or, if you're not up for cooking, arrange for a private chef to prepare a delicious feast for you. There's a desk in the living area that's perfect for business travellers, while the comfortable bedrooms are just the ticket after a long day exploring Rome's lively streets. And speaking of exploring, you couldn't ask for a better spot to do just that. Located in a quiet corner of Rome’s bohemian Travestere neighbourhood, this stylish apartment offers a calm and relaxing base from which to explore the city’s most famous sights. Here, you’ll find three steps leading out onto a private sun-baked terrace – the ideal spot to catch some rays on the loungers or to gather for an alfresco meal around the outdoor table. Parchment Scrolls

Parchment Scrolls oozes classical Roman style. There’s a wonderful mix of antique elements, like the ceiling beams or the painted doors, and more modern fittings that give it a sense of balance. It’s also in a fantastic position, in the cobblestone lanes of Ponte, and right opposite the grand Church of San Biagio. All of these blessings manage to outweigh the only real problem, which is the second bathroom. It doesn’t have the best ventilation, and the shower is only 190cm high, but we think that it’s forgivable given the rest of the space. *The air conditioning is only in the bedrooms and living room*The second bathroom isn't especially well ventilated - there's just a small extractor fan*Guests 5 and 6 will be on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomElectricity AdaptorsFireplaceIronKitchenLift AccessMultiple Sets of KeysNetflixRain ShowerTVUmbrellasWashing MachineWi-fi...More Details

You can tell that someone who loves to travel owns this wonderful apartment – every corner features a charming curio collected from somewhere fabulous. The result is a stylish and eclectic home that’s the perfect base for a truly authentic Roman holiday. The crowds of tourists are kept at a slight distance, across the river. This apartment can be found in Prati, a neighbourhood that’s favoured by the well-heeled locals. There are bars, restaurants and shops all within a stone’s throw of the apartment building, and the Lepanto metro station is a mere eight-minute walk away so when you’re ready to see the sights, it’s as easy as can be. Start your day by tucking into pastries and coffee on the terrace. There are glorious views of the Vatican, which is just a twenty-four-minute walk away. Via Babuino Romance

A sumptuous stay awaits at this penthouse apartment moments from the Spanish Steps. Shops, restaurants, and many of Rome's most famous landmarks are on your doorstep, but the home itself is even better than the location. You'll make a beeline for the panoramic roof terrace, where you can enjoy an Aperol Spritz as the sun sets. We love the mix of contemporary comforts and traditional features inside, though it's worth noting that there's a fee to accommodate the fifth guest. Stones On The Ceiling

Home to Rome's main train station and the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore, Esquilino is a multi-cultural hub with plenty of authentic Roman charm. Here, you can enjoy casual dinners at the local trattorias, sip espresso and people-watch in Piazza Vittorio and shop for international ingredients at the local markets. It's more laid-back than other neighbourhoods, but you can't beat the location – the Colosseum is only a twenty-minute stroll away, and there are plenty of subway stations, so getting around the city is no problem. Inside, the apartment is a warm and welcoming respite from the bustling streets outside. The traditional stone ceiling is an absolute showstopper, and the soft furnishings and natural colour scheme only add to the wow factor. While the living area is decidedly rustic, the sleek kitchen is completely modern, and it has everything home cooks will need. Shutterbug

A standout highlight of this charming studio, formerly the penthouse of the 1920's villa, has to be the large and sunny terrace (with a view to boot). It's a rare find in the busy metropolis that is Rome. There are sun loungers for taking in a few early morning rays, and a dining table that’s perfect for coming together with some nibbles and aperitifs as the sun drops over the rooftops of Monteverde Vecchio’s leafy residential streets. Stepping inside, you’ll find a bright and airy space thanks to the high ceilings reaching up into the eaves. And whilst this is studio living, it’s wonderfully well-kept, with everything you need in the compact, cleverly designed separate kitchen. Not that you’ll be doing much cooking with so many authentic Italian coffee shops and restaurants on your doorstep. And when the ancient ruins and vibrant street life of downtown Rome finally lure you, do like the locals and hop on the tram located just a five m...More Details

    Il Legname

Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host c...More Details

    Soft Shading

Before we even arrived at Soft Shading, we were struck by the location. It’s so close to the Trevi fountain that the only danger is you’ll end up stuck among all the tourists. It’s very new inside, and the modern fittings contrast nicely with some of the original structural features, like the ceilings. The only drawback is the slightly inadequate living room, upstairs, and without space for a full house, but as it’s right in the middle of the city, you won’t be spending much time in. *There's no real living room, certainly not one that can hold nine people*The dining table is only big enough for four people *The shower in the third bedroom is only 190cm high – tall guests might have to duck a little*One guest will have to sleep on a sofa bed*There are a total of 17 steps from the street level to the actual entrance of the property Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild Friendly...More Details

    Maggiore Melody

This apartment near Porta Maggiore is an ideal option for a fuss-free stay. It's not right in the city centre, but nearby bus and tram links can connect you to most of Rome. Though somewhat basic in design, the loft-style layout will suit friends and families – as will the huge terrace, where you can share a bottle of wine and reminisce under the Roman sun. Plan to catch up on work during your visit? Remote working is a breeze with two dedicated desks. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free cot on request.*The bed in the main bedroom is on a small platform. There are also a few steps down to the study area.*One of the single beds is a pull-out trundle, making it a better fit for children.*We think the terrace could use a refresh. It looks a little tired.*This home was purpose-built for rentals, so it's not the most soulful or charming space. Air ConditioningBalconyCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCot / CribDish...More Details

    L'Esploratrice

Coppedè isn’t the best-known quarter of the city, but it’s something of an undiscovered gem. The buildings, an enthralling mix of art nouveau, Greek classicism, medieval and baroque, were all built around the same time, and designed by the eponymous architect. As a flat, L'Esploratrice lives up to the area’s reputation for upmarket homes. It’s set over two floors, and retains many of the original, early-twentieth-century features – like the granite floors and carved wooden door frames. *The entrance to the flat is on the first floor, and you'll have to take the stairs to get there*When we visited, both the TV and wi-fi were not yet installed, so we weren't able to test them*The flat's a little way from the very centre of the city*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room*The second bathroom is very basic Air ConditioningBoard GamesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsEsp...More Details
