Set on one of the main thoroughfares of Prati, this home has a fantastic location, with the Vatican Museums just over ten minutes away on foot. It's the same walking distance to the boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo, as well as the Trionfale Market with its food and flower stalls. If you want to explore some more of Rome's well-known attractions, take a twenty-minute stroll to Castel Sant'Angelo, with its rooftop views over the city. Back at this home – it's comfortable and well-designed, with a calming colour scheme that is just what you need after a hectic day exploring the city. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the balcony or catch up on some work if need be (it's fully equipped for remote working). However, what really sets it apart is the host Angela, whose willingness to go the extra mile can help ensure you have a truly great experience. *There is only air conditioning in the bedrooms*Bedroom three has a single sofa bed*The other two bedr...More Details

Aperitivo might have a small footprint, but it’s unusual in that it’s a real house, spread over three floors, from the ground to the (magical) roof terrace. It’s been put together with a lot of care – this much is evident – and a lot of the furniture has been cleverly made from repurposed materials, such as the chest of drawers that used to be an old trunk. Finding this sort of place in the middle of Monti isn’t easy, and we’re very happy to have come across Aperitivo. *Rosella, the host, would prefer that any stay were a maximum of ten days*One of the bedrooms has quite a low ceiling – you're unlikely to bang your head but don't jump around*After four consecutive showers, the hot water needs a bit of time to replenish itself*Both showers are only 190cm high*Two people will be on a sofa bed in the living room*The second bedroom has limited storage space*Expect to see some signs of general wear and tear here*At full occupancy, there isn...More Details

    In Arcadia

The vast living room is the jewel in the crown. Perched along a quiet, ancient street in the atmospheric Navona district, and with all of the city’s must-see sights reachable on foot, the location of this immaculately presented apartment is hard to beat. Get off to a flying start just around the corner at Piazza Navona (three minutes on foot) –? one of the city’s most famous squares and 'the spot' for an evening aperitivo. And when thoughts turn to food, you’re spoilt for choice here –? with bustling coffee bars, authentic trattorias, and high-end restaurants all just a short jaunt from your door. Back at home, this apartment makes quite a first impression with its grand, period exterior and a spiraling internal staircase leading to your door. Roman Garden

This pied-à-terre makes for a wonderful base for Roman holidays. It’s a comfortable and convenient home in the lively Trastevere district, with all the major sights within easy reach. The incredible views of the city from Belvedere del Gianicolo are a ten-minute walk away, and you have your pick of some of the best restaurants right on your doorstep. It takes twenty-one minutes to meander along the river to Castel Sant’Angelo, and twenty-seven minutes to reach the Roman Forum – slightly longer if you stop into bars and cafes for refreshments, which we absolutely would. If the crowds and heat start to tire you, you might like to recharge your batteries at Orto Botanico di Roma. This university-owned botanical garden is a five-minute stroll from the front door, and is a haven. The apartment itself is a nice calm space, with windows looking out onto the garden below. Everything you need for a city break is here, so you can really make it a...More Details

    Florals - Antiques

Located in a gorgeous 19th-century building, this apartment offers a truly traditional Italian welcome. With plenty of original touches and lots of soul, you'll feel at right home here in no time at all. Step inside, and you'll find a charming living space that invites you to drop your bags and get comfortable on the blue velvet sofa. There are plenty of antique furnishings around the apartment, and a beautiful stained glass piece, giving you plenty to feast your eyes on. Speaking on feasting, budding chefs can head for the pretty tiled kitchen and whip up their favourite pasta dishes to share with their fellow guests. And, there's even a fantastic balcony for morning espressos and evening glasses of Pinot Grigio as you breathe in the fresh air. Timeless Voices

With the iconic Colosseum and Roman Forums just a ten-minute walk away – this spacious loft has a fabulous location. Just another couple of minutes will take you to Piazza Venezia, the central hub of Rome. It's the same distance to Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore, while Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, home to Michelangelo's famous Moses, is a four-minute stroll. A wide range of gourmet shops, eateries and wineries are also on your doorstep, as are galleries and chic boutiques.Situated down a typical alley in Rione Monti, we were surprised by how quiet this home is despite its well-placed position. Inside, grab a book or magazine from the bookshelf and relax on the comfy sofa – your feet will thank you for it after all that sightseeing. Later, if you don't fancy eating out, whip up a comforting bowl of pasta in the modern kitchen to enjoy at your dining table. This place is the perfect Roman bolt hole. *This home has a shared...More Details

    The Playhouse

Filled to the brim with unique artwork and quirky trinkets, this playful apartment embraces maximalism like there's no tomorrow. The apartment is full of colour and a sense of fun, though it's fair to say it won't appeal to lovers of neutral tones and pared-back decor. It's in an old building on one of the more characteristic streets in the charming Regola district. Several details remind you of that, such as the stone arches, vaulted ceilings and the ornate entryway at street level. Step out onto the cobbles and you're a five-minute walk from the lively Campo de' Fiori, seven minutes from the baroque beauty of Piazza Navona, and just over twenty minutes from the labyrinthine streets of trendy Trastevere. * Child-friendly amenities such as a cot, pram and highchair are available upon request*The walls are quite thin, so you may occasionally be able to hear the neighbours*The kitchen is small - it's okay for preparing snacks and light m...More Details

The small touches really help to elevate Alchemy and give it a sense of character. It’s not the largest space, but the design manages to make the most of what’s available, and there are a few nice features like the Art Deco mirrors. The façade is on the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which is Rome’s largest square, so it’s very well-placed for the station. The only thing to mention is that the surrounding area doesn’t have a lot of tourists yet, and can sometimes feel a little empty. *The living room is quite small*Tourists aren't very common in the area - so you might feel a bit detached from the action*Guests 3 and 4 would both be on sofa beds Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsExtra Pillows and BlanketsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFree Parking On StreetFridgeHair DryerHangersIronKitchenKitchen UtensilsLift AccessMi...More Details

    The Roman Nights

This cosy apartment in San Lorenzo is perfect for couples looking to explore Rome. That said, it can sleep up to four guests – but two will draw the short straw and be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room. It’s also worth noting that the bedroom is on a mezzanine level, so at full occupancy, privacy is limited. With a stripped-back, fuss-free style, it may not be to everyone’s taste, but with easy access to public transport, it’s ideal for exploring the city. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible. *The bedroom is on the mezzanine level and semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited. The ceiling in some areas is on the low side on this level – it might not be suitable for taller guests.*At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area.*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. Yantra is so close to the Vatican that we recommend you carry your passport with you whenever you go out – you never know when you'll be tempted back to Musei Vaticani for some exquisite art or to the Sistine Chapel for another look around Michelangelo's frescoed masterpiece. A stroll through the immediate neighbourhood of Prati will bring you back to the present day in stylish fashion with its hidden wine bars, upscale boutiques and trendy art nouveau decorated streets. Upon your return, you'll find a cosy interior with antique objects and a sense of yesteryear charm. While the rustic adornments add interest, we love the quirky wallpaper prints in each bedroom as much as we do the Roman simplicity of this cosy home. There are all the usual mod cons needed for a comfortable stay too, so if you're looking for an authentic experience in an enviable location, then this stripped-back pad is a great option. *At capacity, two people will be ...More Details

    A Roman Retreat

Nestled in the heart of the historic centre and just a few steps from the Campo de Fiori market and the Majestic Piazza Navona, this apartment promises a comfortable retreat for a memorable city stay. Pastel-hued and characterful in style, the open-plan living space is a treat for a large group. The bedrooms will suit a close group, with a double and a single sharing one bedroom and a semi-open plan fifth bedroom – that said, with Rome’s sights on your doorstep, you’ll be springing out of bed in the morning to experience the sights. The Pantheon, Saint Peter and the Imperial Forum, and Museo di Roma are within walking distance, as are the city’s best boutiques and restaurants. *One of the double bedrooms is linked by a glass door to the twin bedroom, and they have their own en-suite bathroom – perfect for families.*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.*Your host can provide a cot and a hi...More Details

    Purple Grapes

A compact yet charming apartment, and right in the middle of Campo Marzio, Purple Grapes offers a lovely little retreat with a fantastic location. Although not really suitable for people with mobility issues due to the lack of lift, it would be great for couples or small families who want to be in the thick of the action. The large bedroom where antiques and modern furnishings meet will certainly prove dream-inducing, while the beautiful fresco on the ceiling is really the icing on the cake. *The building has no lift, so you would have to climb two floors of stairs.*There is only one bathroom between up to four guests.*The TV is quite small, so if that is important you might want to look elsewhere.*Since the photoshoot, the marble table has been replaced by a smaller wooden table.*The WiFi is rather slow.*The kitchen is lacking some basic cooking supplies and cooking utensils, so it might not be the best choice if you're planning famil...More Details

    The Chocolate Box

Harking back to the grand aesthetic of eighteenth-century Italy, this remarkable apartment is all Rococo style antique furniture, original frescos, intricate coffered ceilings and rich walnut wood. Recline aristocratically on the sumptuous cream couch, nibbling olives, before waltzing out onto your private balcony—we can almost hear the plucked tones of a harpsichord in the distance. Continue your noble Italian daydream with a wander through the narrow cobbled streets, surrounded by the tall, stately buildings of the ancient Piazza Navona. And when you’re ready to return to the twenty-first century, drive ten minutes to the acclaimed National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art and spend indulgent evenings in Michelin Starred restaurants—Rome has twenty-three to choose from. *The mezzanine level's ceiling is only 2.1 metres high so our taller guests should mind their heads*There's no lift in the building so it isn't suitable for tho...More Details

    Regina Viarum

Rome is so full of winding alleyways and small squares that a place like Regina Viarum really stands out. It’s completely different to the stereotype – a large flat in a standalone villa, with a huge garden. Obviously, this sort of space doesn’t come along in the city centre, and Regina Viarum is slightly removed from the thick of things, but it comes with space for two cars in the driveway and great public transport links. Besides, if getting into the centre is a fundamental priority, we wouldn’t recommend this place. The whole point is the peaceful, bucolic setting. *It takes about twenty minutes to get to the city centre by car*Even though the flat's on the ground floor, there's a short flight of steps to get to the front door*The single bedroom is significantly below the level of the other bedrooms*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room*You'll have to share the garden with the other guests Air ConditioningBarbequeBo...More Details

    Pencil Graffiti

The palazzo that houses this apartment is something to behold. It's a wonderfully historic building that backs onto a little square and housed renowned American expressionist painter Cy Twombly for a good part of his later life. Once inside, the apartment is simple but elegant. There are plenty of eye-catching original features on display, including the stunning exposed beam ceiling and open fireplace, It lacks the personal effects of a lived-in home, which will appeal to those who tend to find Roman apartments on the busy side, but your hosts made your comfort their number one priority – the beds (and linens in particular) feel very luxurious and make getting up in the morning that little bit trickier. Explore the labyrinth of streets and you'll find yourself a few minutes' walk from the River Tiber, a five-minute stroll from Piazza Campo de' Fiori and 550 metres from the stunning Piazza Navona. * There's no lift in the building, and ...More Details

If you're looking for a fantastic location in Rome, look no further. The Pantheon and Palazzo del Quirinale are a ten-minute amble, and Piazza Navona is just a few minutes more.Back at this apartment, designed by a Roman architect and housed in a historical building, there's a wonderful blend of old and new – think character beams, parquet wood floors and modern chandeliers. The Best Youth

The Pigneto neighbourhood was loved by Italian poet and film maestro, Pier Paolo Pasolini, who sought inspiration from its unapologetic streets. Today, the neighbourhood is just as rousing with fresh boutiques, art galleries and cool eateries drawing an offbeat crowd – and this apartment, right on the cusp of the action, fits in perfectly. Inside, you’ll find contemporary-meets-retro design. We loved the botanical feature wall and cherry red theatre chairs. After waking up in bright bedrooms, find a spot to relax with a cappuccino and a book pulled from your host’s collection. When you start to feel peckish, a simple yet sleek kitchen has enough accoutrements to knock up a light brunch. Dig in on the balcony or pack it as a picnic and enjoy at Parco delle Energie, a twenty-minute stroll away. *This home is on the sixth floor with lift access *Please note, the lift can only accommodate two people at a time *Child-friendly amenities such...More Details

    Pan's Place

Deep within the narrow, medieval streets of Rome, this period building hides a surprisingly modern apartment for up to five guests. It's not a huge space but it's been cleverly configured to make the most of what it has – and to make it feel comfortable and high-end at the same time. Decorated in on-trend whites, creams and greys, it's bright and fresh. The kitchenette is stowed away in a cupboard-like space in the living room and while it's perfect for the basics, it's not going to appeal to keen home cooks – but this is Rome, and some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in the world are right on your doorstep. Our favourite feature of this home is the view onto the charming Piazza dei Satiri outside. And while we're talking location, the famous Campo de’ Fiori market is just around the corner. *The building doesn't have a lift, so you'll have to climb the stairs*The second bedroom has a pull-down bed and may be used as a small be...More Details

Natural light fills pretty much every corner of this apartment – a real feat, considering it's tucked down a Trastevere alleyway. Inspired by Joch's Dutch roots, expect to find white-washed wood floors, crisp cream walls and cleanly-designed furniture inside. You'll feel an immediate sense of calm and serenity as you step through the front door, but there's plenty of character, too – think leafy plants, colourful cushions, shelves lined with art books and Joch's photos hanging in the bedroom. After a long day, we loved resting our feet on the blue chaise lounge with a glass of wine (Joch leaves a bottle for you to enjoy on arrival), listening to podcasts on the built-in wireless speakers and catching up on our favourite shows on Netflix and Apple TV. It's a true home from home, right in the heart of the city. And most of all, we loved the location. Trastevere is one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Rome, where excellent restaurants...More Details

    Roman Haven

This third-floor apartment is perfectly placed for getting to know Rome, boasting a private balcony overlooking the street. There is the potential for some noise and parking outside may be tricky, but you'll have public transport nearby and attractions like the Basilica of Santa Maria are an easy walk away. The kitchen is fully equipped but quite small, and storage throughout is limited so we think it's best for short breaks or work trips. At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the comfy sofa bed, and your host can provide a free cot and high chair to make travelling with little ones a breeze. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible. *This home is in an apartment building in a central location, so there is a chance you might hear some outside noise during your stay. *Your host can provide a free cot and high chair here if you're travelling with little ones. Latin Love

This apartment in Trastevere is ideal for those keen to drop off their bags and head out into the city to explore. Sure, at full occupancy two people will have to take the sofa bed in the living room, but it won’t be at any real expense of lounge space. The terrace is an added bonus here, just the spot for an evening glass of limoncello – it is slightly overlooked by neighbouring homes, but that’s unlikely to worry you as the Italian sun warms your skin. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible. *At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area.*Air conditioning is available in the living room only. *There's no lift here.
