Curia is full of contrasts – aluminium staircases and heavy wooden ceilings, antique marble window frames and pop art prints, dark furniture and white walls. It’s idiosyncratic, and all the better for it. Outside are the ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina, keeping you close to Rome’s heritage (it’s believed to be the spot where Julius Caesar was assassinated). And while the apartment’s not in absolutely perfect condition, this is very common among old Roman buildings and nothing to be alarmed about. *This home is in a central location, and some guests reported hearing street noise throughout the night – something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper*Some guests found the heating and air-conditioning to be a bit temperamental*The lift is very small – you'll struggle to get a person and a suitcase in there*There are a few small signs of age around the place, though nothing major*Both upstairs bedrooms are fairly open to the bedrooms b...More Details

Simply put, Paparazzi is stylish, well-kept and right in the middle of Rome. Domenico is incredibly attentive as a host, and always ready to help, and while there are a few issues that we found, the majority were unavoidable given the age and positioning of the building (fairly slow wi-fi, for example), and the positives far outweigh the negatives. The apartment has been redone recently and you can really tell, particularly in the bathrooms, which feel very modern and sleek. *The apartment's in a narrow alleyway, so it doesn't get much natural light*Not every bed has a bedside table*When we visited there were a few of signs of carelessness – a couple of bulbs had gone and the sugar was in an open packet*There's no lift in the building, so be ready to haul your bags up the stairs*Not all windows close fully – expect to hear some street noise from below*We think the kitchen could be stocked with more crockery and utensils Air Conditioni...More Details

The way Onsen is laid out makes it quite an unusual flat. You have two separate suites, each with its own kitchen (and each available to rent individually), which share a small courtyard. It’s the kind of place that, if misjudged, could be quite soulless, but luckily that’s not the case here. The design, heavy on plants and nods to Japanese culture, fits the space perfectly, and amplifies the brightness and sense of space. Located in a narrow street between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Navona, Kalos is a great home if you want to explore Rome on foot. The insides of this home are immaculate and in spite of mixing several different styles, they create an atmosphere of comfort and luxury. You'll get a beautiful view of the city's skyline from the windows, and if you like an alfresco coffee in the morning, Kalos boasts not one, but two balconies. The small touches really help to elevate Alchemy and give it a sense of character. It’s not the largest space, but the design manages to make the most of what’s available, and there are a few nice features like the Art Deco mirrors. The façade is on the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which is Rome’s largest square, so it’s very well-placed for the station.
