Curia is full of contrasts – aluminium staircases and heavy wooden ceilings, antique marble window frames and pop art prints, dark furniture and white walls. It’s idiosyncratic, and all the better for it. Outside are the ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina, keeping you close to Rome’s heritage (it’s believed to be the spot where Julius Caesar was assassinated). And while the apartment’s not in absolutely perfect condition, this is very common among old Roman buildings and nothing to be alarmed about. *This home is in a central location, and some guests reported hearing street noise throughout the night – something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper*Some guests found the heating and air-conditioning to be a bit temperamental*The lift is very small – you'll struggle to get a person and a suitcase in there*There are a few small signs of age around the place, though nothing major*Both upstairs bedrooms are fairly open to the bedrooms b...More Details

Simply put, Paparazzi is stylish, well-kept and right in the middle of Rome. Domenico is incredibly attentive as a host, and always ready to help, and while there are a few issues that we found, the majority were unavoidable given the age and positioning of the building (fairly slow wi-fi, for example), and the positives far outweigh the negatives. The apartment has been redone recently and you can really tell, particularly in the bathrooms, which feel very modern and sleek. *The apartment's in a narrow alleyway, so it doesn't get much natural light*Not every bed has a bedside table*When we visited there were a few of signs of carelessness – a couple of bulbs had gone and the sugar was in an open packet*There's no lift in the building, so be ready to haul your bags up the stairs*Not all windows close fully – expect to hear some street noise from below*We think the kitchen could be stocked with more crockery and utensils Air Conditioni...More Details

    Noon Herald

Location is where Noon Herald sets itself apart. It’s at the centre of a triangle that has the Vatican, Piazza Navona, and Trastevere as its points. The other big draw is the structure of the flat, with a double-height ceiling and the sloping beams – these help balance out the slightly spartan furniture elsewhere. It would be a good place for someone who is more used to hotels, as there are several services that are more commonly associated with them, such as daily bed turning and clean towels on request. *There's not much for entertainment beyond the TV.*The building has a quiet policy between 2pm and 4pm and between 11pm and 8am.*It's possible you might hear some noise from neighbours during your stay.*There are a few scuff marks on the walls.*It's on the third floor and you'll have to use the communal stairs (with no bannisters) as the lift is private.*There are more steps to climb to reach the mezzanine sleeping space, plus the cei...More Details

The way Onsen is laid out makes it quite an unusual flat. You have two separate suites, each with its own kitchen (and each available to rent individually), which share a small courtyard. It’s the kind of place that, if misjudged, could be quite soulless, but luckily that’s not the case here. The design, heavy on plants and nods to Japanese culture, fits the space perfectly, and amplifies the brightness and sense of space. And while there isn’t much entertainment on offer (most notably, there’s no TV), the streets of Monti outside should provide all the entertainment you need. *The flat is made up of two self-contained suites that share a courtyard*There's no TV in the main communal area (though the bedrooms do have one)*One of the bedrooms doesn't have bedside tables*One person can sleep on a sofa bed Air ConditioningBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherFanGardenHair DryerIronIroning BoardKitchenM...More Details

Located in a narrow street between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Navona, Kalos is a great home if you want to explore Rome on foot. The insides of this home are immaculate and in spite of mixing several different styles, they create an atmosphere of comfort and luxury. You'll get a beautiful view of the city's skyline from the windows, and if you like an alfresco coffee in the morning, Kalos boasts not one, but two balconies. Take note –three of the five guests will be sleeping in the master bedroom without privacy between the two beds. * There's no lift access to this second-floor home, and there are steps inside as well* We spotted some chipped paint right next to the shower in the second bathroom* At full occupancy, there isn't enough space for everyone to sit on the balconies at the same time*The home isn’t stocked with basic kitchen ingredients or cleaning supplies to get you started * You will need to bring your own toiletries for ...More Details

    Roman Beauty

Sitting on the edge of Vatican City, this apartment is the ideal base from which to begin your Roman Holiday. From here, days can be spent strolling the medieval streets and ticking off all the major sights. You can explore on foot or take the easily accessible public transport links, plus there’s an abundant selection of restaurants, bars and cafes right on the doorstep. The rooms and furnishings are a little dated, but there’s plenty of space to relax after a day of exploring. Plus, your host can organise a range of extra services including airport transfers and wellness treatments. *Given the home's location, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay. *Please note the second bedroom has a small double bed. *The traditional decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts. *You won't find a welcome hamper or basic essentials here, so we'd recommend packing some bits and bobs to get you starte...More Details

The local area of Trastevere, brimming with cute cafes, restaurants and boutiques is after all, arguably one of the most characterful parts of the city. Earthy hues and tasteful furnishings dress the apartment with elegance, while modern amenities and soft textures ensure both comfort and practicality in every room. Forza Vita

This unique home is ideal for large groups. It’s a whole building divided into four separate apartments, so up to eighteen guests can stay together while also having their own space – though four guests will be sleeping on sofa beds. The steep stone stairs aren’t suitable for those with reduced mobility – or heavy suitcases – but those stairs mean that the views from the outside spaces are pretty special. Best of all, you’re just a short stroll from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, with all the sights of the city within easy reach. *There’s free on-street parking here*Your host can provide a cot for little ones*This home is comprised of a building divided into four apartments with two double rooms each *At full occupancy, four guests will be sleeping on sofa beds*There are lots of steep stone stairs to climb here and no lift – this home may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility*There’s self-check-in at this home Air Condition...More Details

The small touches really help to elevate Alchemy and give it a sense of character. It’s not the largest space, but the design manages to make the most of what’s available, and there are a few nice features like the Art Deco mirrors. The façade is on the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which is Rome’s largest square, so it’s very well-placed for the station. The only thing to mention is that the surrounding area doesn’t have a lot of tourists yet, and can sometimes feel a little empty. *The living room is quite small*Tourists aren't very common in the area - so you might feel a bit detached from the action*Guests 3 and 4 would both be on sofa beds Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsExtra Pillows and BlanketsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFree Parking On StreetFridgeHair DryerHangersIronKitchenKitchen UtensilsLift AccessMi...More Details

    Asymmetric

Asymmetric has a good combination of modern fittings (particularly in the bathroom and kitchen) and historical features, like the ceiling beams. It manages to express a sense of place – there’s something ineffably Roman about it. What really elevates the stay, though, is the level of service you get from Richard. He and his team can help you plan things to do during your trip – very useful given the overwhelming number of things to do and see in Rome. *Depending on the time, the check-in might take place in two stages – the first remote, and an in-person welcome the next morning*While there is a lift, it's out of bounds so you'll have to take the stairs to the third floor*The wi-fi wasn't very fast when we measured, and the TV is terrestrial only*There's no washing machine or dishwasher in the kitchen, nor any basic ingredients*Both the bedroom and the bathroom are windowless*There are no bedside tables*Even though there are two sofa ...More Details

    Rolling Jade

This comfortable apartment in the beating heart of bohemian Trastevere embodies the 1940s. Unpretentious design and elegant furniture are the cornerstones of the interior, while a sense of calm deliberation hangs in the air. It’s punctuated by simple drawings in pencil, and the stunning wardrobe door – a brilliant jade green with iron and brass detailing. Peeks of the Gianicolo hills from the bedroom’s balcony only add to the peaceful ambiance. After a rich espresso in the quaint kitchen, get to know your old-world neighbourhood. Sidle down ivy-clad alleyways to happen upon traditional ristorantes and artisan shops. Piazza di Santa Maria, a favoured meeting place for locals and newcomers alike, is a five-minute walk from your home. Walk on for another five and you’ll reach the Botanical Garden of Rome. With its monumental fountains and bamboo grove, it’s a serene retreat away from the hubbub. *There's no standalone shower, just the hea...More Details

    Tulip - Rose

Housed in a building designed by renowned architect Angelo di Castro dating back to 1949, this apartment has recently been renovated with a keen eye for detail and a carefully curated touch that will make you feel right at home. Bold blocks of colour and contemporary furnishings create a sophisticated welcome in the open-plan living area where French doors open out onto a private balcony – the ideal spot to enjoy your morning espresso or evening aperitivo. With a comfortable, elegantly styled bedroom to wake up in each day and a luxurious rainfall shower to get mornings off on the right foot, you’ve got everything you need for a perfectly relaxing city stay. When it comes to sightseeing, walk thirteen minutes to Villa Borghese and its beautifully manicured gardens or stroll twenty-two minutes to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain. You’re also just a four-minute walk from Porta Pia – designed by Michelangelo – while Villa Patrizi is ten ...More Details

    Pan's Place

Deep within the narrow, medieval streets of Rome, this period building hides a surprisingly modern apartment for up to five guests. It's not a huge space but it's been cleverly configured to make the most of what it has – and to make it feel comfortable and high-end at the same time. Decorated in on-trend whites, creams and greys, it's bright and fresh. The kitchenette is stowed away in a cupboard-like space in the living room and while it's perfect for the basics, it's not going to appeal to keen home cooks – but this is Rome, and some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in the world are right on your doorstep. Our favourite feature of this home is the view onto the charming Piazza dei Satiri outside. And while we're talking location, the famous Campo de’ Fiori market is just around the corner. *The building doesn't have a lift, so you'll have to climb the stairs*The second bedroom has a pull-down bed and may be used as a small be...More Details

    Beams in the Eaves

In the colourful, bohemian Trastevere district, you’ll find this spacious and light-filled apartment up in the eaves of an old building, between the Piazza di Santa Apollonia and the restless Piazza di Santa Maria. The design of the home is functional and serviceable with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The open-plan living-dining arrangement is great for bigger groups while enjoying Prosecco Negronis before heading out to enjoy a famously unhurried dinner at a local trattoria. You’re just one typically winding Roman street away from the south bank of the River Tiber, where a twenty-minute walk via the Ponte Garibaldi takes you to the iconic Pantheon and a ten-minute car ride places you right in the heart of the Vatican City. * Child-friendly amenities such as a cot and high chair can be provided upon request *Paid parking is available on and off premises *The piazza below the apartment can get quite noisy at night *The hom...More Details

    Roman Sunset

Roman Sunset is an elegant penthouse with a huge terrace and wonderfully expansive views. The clue is in the home's name - the terrace is a truly wonderful place to enjoy the sunset over the city. Roman Sunset is located in Flaminio - it's a lovely residential and well-connected neighbourhood but if you're keen to stay in the historical centre itself then you might want to look elsewhere. With its gorgeous views, abundant natural light, and calming colour scheme, this home is the perfect place to retreat to after a long day. * Flaminio is not in the historical centre* There are only proper beds for four (guests 5 \u0026 6 would be on pull-out sofa-beds in the living area)* There is not much space around the bed in the second bedroom* Some guests might find the decor a bit on the beige side* The kitchen is slightly lacking in character Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherFreezerFridgeHair ...More Details

    Shutterbug

A standout highlight of this charming studio, formerly the penthouse of the 1920's villa, has to be the large and sunny terrace (with a view to boot). It's a rare find in the busy metropolis that is Rome. There are sun loungers for taking in a few early morning rays, and a dining table that’s perfect for coming together with some nibbles and aperitifs as the sun drops over the rooftops of Monteverde Vecchio’s leafy residential streets. Stepping inside, you’ll find a bright and airy space thanks to the high ceilings reaching up into the eaves. And whilst this is studio living, it’s wonderfully well-kept, with everything you need in the compact, cleverly designed separate kitchen. Not that you’ll be doing much cooking with so many authentic Italian coffee shops and restaurants on your doorstep. And when the ancient ruins and vibrant street life of downtown Rome finally lure you, do like the locals and hop on the tram located just a five m...More Details

    Naive Melody

Between the old Jewish Quarter and the riverside alleys of Regola, Naive Melody is at the centre at what was the heart of medieval Rome. It was in spotless condition when we arrived, and if you were inclined to stay in, rather than explore the neighbourhood, there’s a 70” TV with Netflix to keep you busy. No one lives in the flat full time, but this isn’t necessarily a problem as Giulia, your host, is a delight – really helpful and forthcoming. *The entrance to the building is a little hard to find, but you'll get precise instructions from Giulia.*Don't try to water the plants – they're artificial.*Guests 3 and 4 will be accommodated in the sofa bed in the living room.*There's a restaurant downstairs, so expect to hear some noise into the early hours.*The bedroom curtains here don't fully block out the sunlight. Roman Loft

We think this industrial-style loft makes for a memorable stay in the Eternal City. The decor mixes contemporary and character features – you'll find everything from exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings to a unique glass floor that overlooks the lounge. It's got plenty of space for everyone, and the extra touches like board games and snacks are much appreciated. Plus, the location is fantastic for exploring near and far. Both the Colosseum and the metro station are within walking distance. Shops and restaurants are easily reached on foot, too. *Although there's a lift in the building, the upper floor here is only accessible by stairs.*The top-floor bedroom has a glass floor that overlooks the living area.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide up to two free cots on request.*The dining table can be used as a desk if you plan to work from home.*Parking isn't provided, but a car isn't needed in Rome. Located in Rome’s eclectic Monti neighbourhood – known for its family-run trattorias, hip wine bars and funky vintage boutiques – this comfortable apartment puts you in an ideal spot to experience them all, as well as the city’s most iconic historic sights. Make yourself at home on the scarlet sofa with a glass of Italian wine or gather around the dining table for a celebratory soirée when you’re not out sampling the local food scene. At the end of the night, descend the winding staircase to find the black and white bedroom whose comfy bed beckons a restful night’s sleep, and whose en-suite invites relaxing wake-ups with its rainfall shower. Everything about this palatial apartment clicks seamlessly into place. It’s luxurious, opulent even (how else do you describe the marble columns?), but retains a certain grace – a lightness that stops it from feeling over the top. That’s quite an achievement in a place with ceiling frescoes, parquet flooring, and marble arches. While the living space has a real air of elegance, the bedrooms are more modern and stylish, with whitewashed walls, gold accented furnishings and tasteful artwork (plus their own individual coffee machines). Inhabiting the space between a hotel and an apartment, you'll find plenty of other thoughtful amenities during your stay – from a private chef, housekeeping, and 24/7 concierge. Take your breakfast outside, prepared and served by the staff on your rooftop terrace, offering skyline views over the Eternal City. Beckoning you to explore, walk sixteen minutes and find yourself at one of the seven wonders of the ...More Details

This retro-chic apartment of offers a slightly different experience from many of our other homes in Rome. Rather than the bustle of the tourist centre, you’ll be in the leafy, twentieth-century streets of Monteverde Vecchio where traditional pasta restaurants and pubs serving artisan beer sit alongside weekly markets and antique shops. It’s a fitting locale for this historic apartment, as the host’s family have lived here since 1927, and some of the elegant furnishings, portraits, and other artworks decking the apartment’s walls go back further still. We love the antique camera that creates a memorable welcome, as well as the blue kitchen that provides the main sociable hub here. Gather together for breakfasts of fresh coffee and locally bought pastries at the table, or better yet, step put onto the private terrace for a sunny start to the day. This is also the ideal spot to treat yourself to a glass of Italian red before sampling the ...More Details

    Trastevere Twist

An ode to 1960s Italian cool, this studio apartment blends elegant vintage decor with modern stylings to create a space that feels like you’ve stepped straight into a Fellini film. We love the old-school design elements here, from the beamed ceilings in the dining area to the vintage sound system and retro colour palette. The feature wall in the bedroom adds warmth and character to the bright and comfortable space, combining groovy 60s patterns in a bold 21st-century way. After waking up to views of the neighbourhood’s rooftops, hop under the bathroom’s rainfall shower for a luxurious soak before catching up on any work you may have at the chic dedicated desk space. Then, slip on your walking shoes for an exciting day of sightseeing. Within your bohemian Trastevere neighbourhood, you’ll find plenty of traditional trattorias, craft beer pubs and artisan shops, while the city’s most iconic sights – including the Trevi Fountain, the Spanis...More Details
