    Only in Rome

This apartment in Trieste suits travellers keen to get a taste of authentic Rome. It's not in the city centre, but that doesn't mean the landmarks aren't within easy reach – just hop on the metro and you'll be whisked away to the Colosseum in less than twenty minutes. Pizzerias and restaurants are nearby, or there's a large kitchen if you'd rather rustle up pasta back home. You'll also find two balconies (although they're not in the best condition), a trio of comfortable bedrooms, and a sociable living space where you can relax after sightseeing. For those who don't mind being further away from the hustle and bustle, it's a great option. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a travel cot, toys, and children's tableware on request.*The entrance to this apartment building is shared with other guests. Please respect the neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.*The balconies are looking a little tired and ...More Details

Bowler is very comfortable, and has clearly been designed to tailor to large groups, whether that be friends on holiday, or people on a business trip. Each room has a TV, which makes up somewhat for the lack of any real living room. That’s the big factor with the flat – the lack of communal areas beyond the kitchen. If you’re okay with it (or would even prefer it), then there’s little else to say, as everything is kept very and it’s hard to see how the place could be improved much. *Depending on the time, the check-in might take place in two stages – the first remote, and an in-person welcome the next morning*There's no lift in the building – you'll have to climb the stairs to the second floor*Nothing in the way of basic ingredients is provided*There isn't a living room – just a kitchen with a dining table*Even though there's a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms, eight people at once in the flat would feel like a lot*There's no washing ma...More Details

Simply put, Paparazzi is stylish, well-kept and right in the middle of Rome. Domenico is incredibly attentive as a host, and always ready to help, and while there are a few issues that we found, the majority were unavoidable given the age and positioning of the building (fairly slow wi-fi, for example), and the positives far outweigh the negatives. The apartment has been redone recently and you can really tell, particularly in the bathrooms, which feel very modern and sleek. *The apartment's in a narrow alleyway, so it doesn't get much natural light*Not every bed has a bedside table*When we visited there were a few of signs of carelessness – a couple of bulbs had gone and the sugar was in an open packet*There's no lift in the building, so be ready to haul your bags up the stairs*Not all windows close fully – expect to hear some street noise from below*We think the kitchen could be stocked with more crockery and utensils Air Conditioni...More Details

    Jack of Diamonds

Tucked away in the charming lakeside town of Anguillara Sabazia, this little bolthole is perfect for a pair of couples (or a couple of pairs), or a small family looking for a serene retreat. It’s a four-minute stroll to the shores of beautiful Lake Bracciano, and plenty of local trattoria and lakeside bars are in the streets surrounding the apartment. We love that this home provides a typical Italian Lakes escape, but you’re just a forty-minute drive from the iconic ancient sights of Rome’s centre. The apartment itself feels boutique and old-worldly at the same time with gnarled old wood beams lining the ceiling and exposed patches of stonework. The decor feels like a mix of beachy-breeze and ancient world with driftwood bedside lamps and boat oars alongside oil paintings. The open kitchen, living and dining room is a cosy spot to unwind in after a day by the lake, but it’s the proximity to the charming bars and restaurants of Anguillar...More Details

    Catherine Wheel

Catherine Wheel feels far bigger than it should thanks to the high ceiling, which is beautifully decorated and gives the flat its focal point. There are a few other pretty period details, like the fireplace (unfortunately only for show, these days) and a little balcony overlooking the street. You’re in a very convenient location, although not the most evocative. But the station is nearby and you’re a bit removed from the throngs of tourists that seem to march back and forth between the Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps. *There's air conditioning but only in the bedroom*Similarly, the TV is in the bedroom*Two guests will be on a double sofa bed, also in the bedroom*There's no washing machine*The street outside is pretty busy and there's some traffic noise Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribElectricity AdaptorsFa...More Details

    Hope - Glory

In the days of Ancient Rome, the grounds of this home belonged to the Baths of Agrippa. Now it stands as a gateway to the heart of Italian living – a place to discover the atmospheric beauty and cultural depth of the city. Tucked in the Pigna district right in the centre of Rome, this apartment brings a touch of contemporary luxury to its traditional roots. It’s the kind of setting that draws you in with its charm and character, inviting you to enjoy life’s simple luxuries as well as a few quirky features. And whether you’re sipping drinks in the living room or gathering around the table for a candlelit dinner, it’s easy to settle in and feel at home here. Stepping outside, you can stroll through the atmospheric streets towards the iconic sights – the Pantheon is just three–minutes away while the Trevi Fountain is an eleven–minute walk. And with an abundant selection of local bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep, there’s everyth...More Details

    Sunset Soul

In a beautiful eighteenth-century building, this home occupies the attic space and offers a private terrace right in front of the Piazza Del Popolo, overlooking incredible panoramic views of Rome’s historical centre. After breakfast and an espresso at the kitchen’s breakfast bar – or even take alfresco on sunny mornings – head out and explore the sights. Visit the Piazzo Del Popolo and the other attractions that are within walking distance, or hop on the metro to roam even more of the capital. In the evening, what could be a better way to enjoy your delicious Italian pasta and pizza than with an alfresco meal on the terrace as you admire the amazing views afforded to you? Sip great Italian wine as the sunsets on this view and the vista turns to nighttime before you finally retire inside. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible – though we think the best way to se...More Details

    A Roman Affair

This penthouse apartment grabbed our attention for its panoramic views over Rome from the rooftop terrace. Laid out over two storeys, you’ll have two living rooms and two kitchens here, as well as a choice of indoor and outdoor dining areas – perfect for enjoying a meal cooked by a private chef, which your host can arrange. Designed by accomplished artist and interior designer, Francesca Squillante Montoro (also known as Tompiy), the home also boasts bespoke furnishings, eye-catching artwork, a small gym, and a collection of lush plants. Location-wise, you’re in the Prati area of the city, known for its wide streets and gourmet restaurants, and within a twenty-minute walk of many of Rome’s iconic landmarks. *The penthouse is split across the building's fourth and fifth floors – it comprises two en-suite bedrooms on the fourth floor, and three bedrooms on the fifth floor. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a c...More Details

    Renaissance Romance

Spread across three floors and boasting a private terrace, this Trastevere apartment is an absolute winner. If you're anything like us, you'll make a beeline for the outdoor space – it's the perfect spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz while gazing at the neighbourhood's rooftops. Inside, the antique furniture and character features give the whole pad a traditional feel – but that's all part of the charm. With two lounges, a dining room, and a collection of cosy bedrooms, you'll also have plenty of space. We love the location, too. This is one of Rome's prettiest (and oldest) districts, home to artisan shops, local trattorias, and a bohemian atmosphere that's hard to resist. *This home is in a building without an elevator. The entrance is located on the second floor, and the apartment itself is spread across three levels.*Some of the antique furniture here is a little dated and may not suit everyone's tastes.*This home does not accept groups...More Details

    Desiderata

It almost seems redundant to try to talk about this magical spot in the heart of Rome – we’ll never be able to do it justice like the photos can. In stunning condition, the apartment hasn't aged at all and invites guests into a time capsule filled with spectacular artworks, antique furniture and original features that are usually only reserved these days for royal palaces and museums alike. Secret doorways and passageways give way to a one-of-a-kind experience and continuous surprises no matter how long you stay. You needn't bother visiting the crowded galleries and museums that the city is so often renowned for, as you'll have your very own gallery at home. Almost every wall is adorned with oil paintings or sumptuous wallpaper, inviting guests to experience the kind of opulence that few ever get to know. And with the vast array of world cuisine and Italian gastronomy at your fingertips, be sure to discover some of Rome's top restaurant...More Details

    Bacco - Diana

In a characterful corner of Trastevere, just around the corner from the Tiber, Bacco \u0026 Diana is slightly detached from both the tourist crowds around the Trevi fountain and the nightlife by Piazza di Santa Maria. Of course, this is Rome, so it’s by no means silent, but the slight respite is noticeable. And while the layout of the flat means that there isn’t much light in the living room, it’s still a welcoming space, and the lack of separation between each of the spaces mitigates any sense of being enclosed. *As there's no lift, you'll have to take the stairs to the first floor*While there is a very small outdoor space, it's not big enough to relax in*The TV in the living room is very small*Some parts of the flat are quite dark*Two people can sleep on single sofa beds in the living room, but as there are no doors between that, the bedroom, and the kitchen, anyone sleeping there wouldn't have much space Air ConditioningBalcony / ...More Details

Any discussion of Savannah has to start with the roof terrace, a little rectangle of serenity nestled in the rooftops of Trastevere. There is furniture up there and even a canopy, so you can relax while hiding from the midday sun. The interior is simple but charming, with a working fireplace in the living room - perfect for those cosy winter nights. The bathroom is a little basic - especially if it’s being shared by four - and it’s worth noting that there is no lift in the building, but otherwise Savannah is a lovely base in Rome's most bohemian neighbourhood. *Get ready for some climbing - there's no lift and the apartment's on the second floor*The stairs to the terrace is quite narrow with a low ceiling*If the apartment receives all four guests, they'll have to share one bathroom Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / C...More Details

Set in the heart of Rome's lively Prati district, this stylish apartment is a real crowd-pleaser. For those larger groups of friends or extended families looking to explore the Eternal City, you'll have four bright and colourful bedrooms to relax in, knowing the cultural attractions and iconic sights are right outside. Despite the lack of seating in the living-come-dining room, each bedroom offers a unique space to unwind. Styled in a chic 50s theme with vibrant colours, bold wallpaper prints and mid-century furnishings, the rooms also come with plenty of space. Each one has its own look, filled with vintage paraphernalia, from records to typewriters (they also each have a TV – the flat isn’t entirely faithful to the 50s). The bathrooms are well-designed and metro tiled, while the kitchen’s equipped for home meals – but you’re in one of the restaurant hotspots (as if anywhere in Rome isn’t a restaurant hotspot), and there are some great...More Details

    Principe of Life

With Roma Termini station just around the corner, this is the perfect spot for those visiting Rome for a weekend trip. It’s a neighbourhood bursting with restaurants, bars, and cafés, and well-connected to trains, trams, and the metro, located just a six-minute walk away. Most importantly, you'll find all of Rome’s biggest sites close by too. Wander the bustling streets leading you to the Colosseum, just over twenty minutes away on foot, making a pit-stop first at the famous Roman ice cream parlour, Fassi dating back to 1880 and located rather dangerously just long from your apartment. And despite its central location, you’ll be surprised at how quiet this home is, thanks to the communal inner courtyard that welcomes you the moment the grand lobby doors of this historic building open. But there’s nothing dated about the interiors of this completely renovated home. The owners have kept the space sleek and modern to make the most of the n...More Details

    Trionfale Retreat

Located in one of Rome's most tranquil and green areas, this apartment is a step back from the crowds. That said, restaurants, shops and cafes are on your doorstep as well as plenty of public transport options for travelling to the city's most iconic landmarks. At home, the minimalist living space and uncluttered bedroom will help you relax after busy days spent sightseeing. But the real charmer is the home's private balcony, which serves as an idyllic spot to unwind with an icy Aperol Spritz. Keep in mind that two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed at full capacity. *At full occupancy, two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area. *The kitchen is on the small side and we think is better suited for preparing light bites rather than large meals. *This apartment lacks a TV. *Air-conditioning is only in the living area. *The minimalist design might not be to everyone's taste. Tastefully decorated with a good balance of rustic features and modern furniture, this apartment offers a quietly impressive base in the heart of the eternal city. The living room mixes exposed brickwork and wooden ceiling beams with contemporary wooden flooring and a huge smart TV, while there's even a four-poster bed in one of the bedrooms for guests to argue over. If you don't win that squabble, don't worry — the other two both have ensuite bathrooms and wall-mounted TVs. The location offers the best of both worlds, too. It's not on the main tourist routes, so still retains an element of authentic Roman character. However, some of the city's must-see sights are within easily walkable distance, too. Castel Sant'Angelo is just a seven-minute walk away and the Pantheon only takes ten. *It's sometimes possible to hear noise from the streets*At full occupancy, the seventh and eighth guests will be on a sofa bed*The building has no parkin...More Details

    Sistina Chic

As soon as you step into this apartment you can tell the owner is an architect. A space of glass and steel shows off the ancient Passetto walls of the garden beyond. The furniture is designed by the owner himself and has been custom made by local craftsmen, from the metal four-posted bed to the recliner-like leather sofa. Sleek and silver, the kitchen is decked out in industrial-chic splendour. A communal garden, sculpted to perfection and shaded by a twisting vine, offers a little outdoor space to relax. You’ll need it after a day in the city, with the Vatican a ten-minute walk in one direction and Castel Sant’Angelo in the other. * The large floor to ceiling windows don’t have any blinds or curtains – you won’t be getting much of a morning lie-in* This home is not for those who suffer from vertigo – you can see right through the mezzanine flooring* Lugging your bags up to the mezzanine might be a bit of a challenge Air Conditioning...More Details

This modern studio apartment in an 18th-century building not only makes a good first impression but continues to reveal more of its charm throughout your stay. Everything is well-considered, from the sleek design to the comfortable furnishings, and from the practical layout to the enviable central location. The home’s footprint is well proportioned and the kitchen being partially separated makes the place feel particularly spacious. The cherry on top is the private balcony – it’s great in the morning with a strong coffee and even better at night with a spritz or two. You’ll find yourself less than a ten-minute walk from the unmistakable Trevi Fountain, virtually next-door neighbours with a modern art gallery and within touching distance of a tempting selection of traditional eateries and cosy bars. *Our taller guests should note the showerhead only goes up to 180cm *There's no lift in the building, so you'll have to climb sixty-six sta...More Details

    Cityscape - Colour

If sightseeing is the top priority for your Rome city stay, then this apartment in Monti puts all the must-sees at your fingertips. You’ll find The Colosseum, Piazza Navona, The Pantheon, and St. Peter's Basilica, all within a ten-minute walk. Beautifully kept, elegant, and filled with plenty of natural light, this charming home just fifteen minutes from the Vatican City really caught our eye. To stay here is to move into an authentically Roman home with a bucolic-styled kitchen, complete with a blue-tiled backsplash and sunny dining spot by the patio doors. Cosy up with a good book in the refined living area, while taking in the ornate mirrors and silver lighting. But the real highlight of this apartment is the private balcony – it's the perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine after a day spent sightseeing. Speaking of, the home's located away from the intense crowds and excited tourists in the quiet area of Aurelio, and yet getting around the city is easy with the nearest metro station a short two-minute walk away. Urban Duet

If you're a group heading to Rome, or perhaps two families travelling together, this home offers a colourful, arty alternative to run-of-the-mill apartments. With their own entrance accessed through an outer gate and a small outside space where you can sip coffee in the morning, they've been recently renovated with artistic flair. The one-bedroom apartment sleeps up to four, thanks to a sofa bed in the lounge, and this one is mainly decked out in red and black. High ceilings and a brick-effect wall make for a bright, fun place to put your feet up at the end of the day, and we particularly love the neon sign and touches of Americana. Meanwhile, the other apartment is an ode to monochrome, with modern, designer furniture and a minimalist feel. Both have open-plan living spaces with dining tables and fully-equipped kitchens, and both have sleek, stylish bathrooms.Just a short stroll from the nearest Metro station, it's just a couple of sto...More Details

    Centurion Honey

You can tell fairly early on that a lot of thought has gone into the decorating of Centurion Honey. It’s comfortable, with most of the amenities and appliances you could need, and the sofa bed doesn’t feel like a compromise, which is something of a rarity in Rome. The interiors are simple, but the calming tones give a sense of serenity that contrasts with the bustle of the Monti streets below – a welcome respite. *Two people can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room – some guests find it quite firm, but it's in good condition*The dining chairs are classic Kartell models, but some guests find them a bit on the hard side*As there's a hot water tank, it's possible that several long showers in a row will use up all the hot water*There's no window in the kitchen*City taxes are not included in the price of the stay and will be collected in person upon check-in Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentr...More Details

The understatement on display in this historic house allows some of the warm, textural elements of the design – like the exposed beam ceiling, tiled floors and concrete steps – to sing. Set within a stunning fifteenth-century building, the home is spread over three floors, accessible via a beautiful spiral staircase that eventually emerges in between the three bedrooms up on the second floor. The interior is a largely pared-back affair, with a definite nod to Scandinavian simplicity, but without veering into the impersonal. While the Tiber isn’t actually visible from the front door, but it’s only one street over, and the Castel Sant’Angelo is just a few minutes' walk on the other bank. Elsewhere, you're around five minutes from the ever-popular Piazza Navona and ten to the lively morning market in Campo de' Fiori. *Child-friendly amenities such as a cot, highchair, stairgate and dinnerware are available upon request*The master bedroom ...More Details

There isn’t much that’s more Italian than a Vespa, and Farobasso has two of them. These are the most eye-catching vintage objects in the apartment, but there are many more - the host has tied the theme together nicely. The entire place has been recently redone, and you can tell from the excellent condition it’s in - the bathrooms in particular feel spotless. However, Farobasso is a way out of the historic centre. It might be well-placed to visit the Vatican, but to get to the Trevi fountain, or the Colosseum, you might be tempted to commandeer one of the scooters. *Despite being well-placed for the Vatican, Aurelio isn't a very central part of the city*The wi-fi isn't very fast*The small balcony feels as if it could be put to better use*Guests 10, 11 and 12 will be on sofa beds - two in the living room and one in the master bedroom Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCof...More Details

    Starry Eyes

Just a few steps away from the hive of activity that is the Campo de’ Fiori square and its market lies Starry Eyes, a spread-out apartment with ample space for large groups of friends and friends. Brightly lit, the tall windows overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Pantaleo let in plenty of light throughout the day and fill the space with fresh air. Step out onto the corner balcony as you sip your morning coffee and watch the world go by. We particularly love the antique dining table – be sure to share an Italian feast of dreams when it comes to mealtimes. Despite the home's central location, you'll find peace and quiet here, making it the perfect escape to return to after a day of pizza-fuelled sightseeing. Having said that, you won't have to venture far to discover the treasures of Rome – as you'll be stationed just 500 metres away from Piazza Navona and 600 metres away from the Pantheon. *You may experience a bit of no...More Details

    Sistina Ark

In interior design circles, this apartment in northern Rome would be described as industrial-chic — illumination comes from minimalist light-bulb fittings, you can store clothes in repurposed cabinets and trunks, and the floor is covered in faded tiling. In the middle of the space sits a comfy, no-thrills bed. Everything about the space screams function — it was designed by the host, who is also an architect — and a stay here will help you have a seamless experience in the Italian capital. As well as offering daily cleaning, the location puts you within a short walk of some of the city's main attractions. Vatican City can be reached in five minutes on foot, while in the other direction, Castel Sant'Angelo and Parco della Mole Adriana are both a ten-minute walk. *The building doesn't have a lift, so you'll have to take the stairs to the first floor — this might not be suitable for guests with limited mobility*As the flat's tucked away a...More Details

Beneath the exposed whitewashed beams, you'll find a contemporary crashpad with an emphasis on a clean finish. Not only is there plenty of storage lining the wall, but the doors open up to unveil a compact kitchenette that's ideal for preparing light bites in the morning.Gaze out at the beautiful neighbourhood buildings from your bed before peeling back one more of those minimalist doors to reveal a natural stone shower room where you can preen and pamper to your heart's content.Call the elevator and head down to street level, where you'll find yourself around a twenty-minute walk from the likes of the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon.
