Paquino is perfectly comfortable, and while it lacks a bit of flair in the design department, it’s pleasant to look at. None of this really matters though, because the big thing going for it is the position, right in the heart of Monti. There are loads of excellent restaurants around (although the kitchen is actually pretty good, easily enough for a decent meal) and you really are in the cobbled streets among the ancient ruins that define the city. *You'll have to climb the stairs to the first floor – the building doesn't have . a lift.*There's no washing machine in this home – it's just outside this home.*We found a few stains on the walls, particularly in the bathroom.*This home is located within an apartment building, with a shared entrance. The Flaminio quartiere sits in a bend of the River Tiber and lays claim to this classic Roman apartment. The interiors are 1930s inspired with vintage furnishings, rich dark wood accents and original terrazzo floors. After an industrious day exploring the Eternal City, we loved disappearing into what can only be described as a king-sized sofa, designed by Philippe Starck. Sip a cappuccino by the window overlooking the Monte Mario Observatory or take a seat at the dining table and enjoy a traditional cornetto. While you’re a fifteen-minute car ride to the centre of Rome, there’s plenty to do in your locale. In the summer, catch an outdoor movie at the Cinema Titian Roma, ten-minutes walk to the north, with the striking MAXXI contemporary art and architecture museum right next door. The manicured lawns of Villa Borghese are located twenty minutes south – perfect for picnics and afternoon strolls. Closer to home, you’ll find traditional wi...More Details
Much like its sister apartment in the same building, Green Jay has an air of nobility that surrounds it. Antique furniture, dark wooden windows, and tiled floors all combine to encapsulate the feeling of elegance, a feeling which is common in Flaminio. This isn’t the place to stay if you want to be in the very middle of the action, but you get a sense of calm and a detachment from the tourist crowds, which is more than worth the extra journey time. *The kitchen was generally well-equipped but it was missing a few smaller appliances like a toaster or an espresso machine*Three people can sleep on sofa beds in the communal areas of the flat*The building has a porter but only during working hours Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherDryerElectricity AdaptorsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFreezerFridgeHair DryerHangersHigh ChairIronKitchenKitchen UtensilsLap...More Details
Instead of the very heart of Trastevere, Sky Queen is a little bit to the north. This is actually a fantastic location – you can avoid the hordes of revellers, and the Vatican is easy to reach, while the river is just at the end of the road. A quieter option in a lovely location, this home is perfect if you're looking for an authentic stay – with all the big attractions within a half-hour walk. The double-height ceiling and the large windows make this place bright and breezy, which is surprisingly rare for this neighbourhood as the narrow streets and old buildings often conspire to keep sunlight away. There's a sense of history, with beamed ceilings, and a modern twist thanks to the mezzanine bedroom floor and the floating stairs. A comfy sofa takes the prime position in the open-plan living space, with a handy desk area and a contemporary kitchen tucked away under the mezzanine. *The bed is on a mezzanine level that's open to the li...More Details

Borromini's Rainbow
Small but stylish, this studio flat set in an ancient convent suits a solo traveller or a couple wanting a quaint getaway. It's a tiny flat – there are no two ways about it – but host Sara has made the most of the space. The design is eye-catching and trendy, with three-dimensional mirrored splashback, funky jungle wallpaper and shimmery curtains, and the whole place is utterly spotless. Plus, Sara hasn't overlooked a single detail – the welcome gift of fruit and wine made us feel right at home, while the toiletries in the bathroom (there's everything from slippers to cotton swabs and toothbrushes) are just icing on the cake. In the evenings, take your bottle of wine up to the communal roof and watch the sunset over Rome's rooftops. Centrally located between Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum (just a fifteen-minute walk away), Monti is the perfect spot to live like a local. Cobblestone streets are lined with vintage stores, chic cafes and...More Details
History emanates from the walls of this cosy little home in Navona. The structure itself has been well preserved and looked after, with its crossbeam ceiling and wooden doors retaining their rustic charm. Recently renovated, you'll find all the usual mod-cons needed for a comfortable stay too, with a light-filled double bedroom and swanky en-suite bathroom that features a luxurious rainfall shower. While the compact kitchen is better suited for preparing light bites and breakfast, the coffee making station in the living space more than makes up for it. Through to the bedroom, you'll notice the lime green colour scheme, abstract wall art and an antique study area for those keeping one eye on work during their stay. Outside, there's a real authentic feel to the surrounding area that we really love. Hidden down a beautifully atmospheric backstreet, this home's local neighbourhood will make you feel as if you've stepped back into sixteenth ...More Details
Set in the heart of Rome's lively Prati district, this stylish apartment is a real crowd-pleaser. For those larger groups of friends or extended families looking to explore the Eternal City, you'll have four bright and colourful bedrooms to relax in, knowing the cultural attractions and iconic sights are right outside. Despite the lack of seating in the living-come-dining room, each bedroom offers a unique space to unwind. Styled in a chic 50s theme with vibrant colours, bold wallpaper prints and mid-century furnishings, the rooms also come with plenty of space. Each one has its own look, filled with vintage paraphernalia, from records to typewriters (they also each have a TV – the flat isn’t entirely faithful to the 50s). The bathrooms are well-designed and metro tiled, while the kitchen’s equipped for home meals – but you’re in one of the restaurant hotspots (as if anywhere in Rome isn’t a restaurant hotspot), and there are some great...More Details

Bowler is very comfortable, and has clearly been designed to tailor to large groups, whether that be friends on holiday, or people on a business trip. Each room has a TV, which makes up somewhat for the lack of any real living room. That’s the big factor with the flat – the lack of communal areas beyond the kitchen. If you’re okay with it (or would even prefer it), then there’s little else to say, as everything is kept very and it’s hard to see how the place could be improved much. *Depending on the time, the check-in might take place in two stages – the first remote, and an in-person welcome the next morning*There's no lift in the building – you'll have to climb the stairs to the second floor*Nothing in the way of basic ingredients is provided*There isn't a living room – just a kitchen with a dining table*Even though there's a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms, eight people at once in the flat would feel like a lot*There's no washing ma...More Details
Selva definitely has the feel of a holiday flat, rather than someone’s full-time home, but that shouldn’t necessarily count against it. It also has a trump card over most other places in the centre of the city – the feeling of peace. (Though this is, of course, relative – in these parts of the city there are always tourists.) What really elevates the stay, though, is the level of service you get from Richard. He and his team can help you plan things to do during your trip – very useful given the overwhelming number of things to do and see in Rome. *When we visited, the sliding door to the lift was a bit sticky – don't be alarmed if it needs a bit of welly*There's no TV in the living room, just in each bedroom*The kitchen felt a bit disorganised in general*While there is a double sofa bed in the living room and in the main bedroom, eight people at once feels like too many for the flat Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Mo...More Details
With solid wood ceilings and a view of a charming inner courtyard, Clematis feels very Roman. Minimalist in style (with plenty of original features), it’s great for travellers looking for a comfortable base with a historic atmosphere. Even though it’s within walking distance to important monuments (Largo di Torre Argentina, Pantheon, Piazza Navona), the immediate streets are fairly calm with an overriding local feel. *Depending on the time, the check-in might take place in two stages – the first remote, and an in-person welcome the next morning*Nothing in the way of basic ingredients is provided*Guests 3 and 4 would be on a sofa bed in the living room*Aside from the TV, there aren’t that many entertainment options*This home is on the first floor with no lift – you’ll have to climb twenty-one steps to reach the front door*Guests sleeping on the sofa bed should be aware that there are no blinds in the living room to keep out the sunlight...More Details
L'Esploratrice
This home has a fantastic location in upscale Prati – it's just over a ten-minute walk to the Vatican Museums, while the high-end boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo are a twenty-minute stroll away. You'll also find an array of bars and gourmet restaurants on your doorstep. Trionfale Market, on the other hand, with its food and flower stalls, is just over a five-minute saunter. So, take some fresh produce back to this home and whip up a Roman-style feast to enjoy in the elegant dining area. Later, entertain your guests at the piano here, or relax with a glass of prosecco in the jacuzzi. In the morning, fling open the French doors in the bedroom, then enjoy a hearty breakfast before starting another exciting day exploring all the Eternal City's wonderful sights. *Even though there's a lift most of the way, there's also a short flight of stairs to get to the apartment*The second bathroom doesn't have any windows, just an extraction fan*If ne...More Details
Oh, the view from this Roman home – we go weak at the knees every time we see it. It makes a good case for the best in the city. Who wouldn't want to wake up to the vistas of the magnificent Colosseum? We can imagine on warm summers evening opening up the windows and drinking a glass of prosecco while admiring this ancient amphitheatre set against a red sky. Let's not forget the interiors here, though – they are lovely and fit in perfectly with the old-world grandeur that emanates from Rome. We especially adore the marble-clad bathrooms and plush velvet fabrics, all chosen by a Count. If you can tear yourself away from the windows, history lovers can walk to the Basilica di San Clemente in under five minutes, while St. Peter's Square can be reached in a quarter of an hour. *There's no washing machine here*This home has access to a nearby shared gym*Child-friendly amenities such as a cot, high chair and travel cot are available upon req...More Details

The way Onsen is laid out makes it quite an unusual flat. You have two separate suites, each with its own kitchen (and each available to rent individually), which share a small courtyard. It’s the kind of place that, if misjudged, could be quite soulless, but luckily that’s not the case here. The design, heavy on plants and nods to Japanese culture, fits the space perfectly, and amplifies the brightness and sense of space. And while there isn’t much entertainment on offer (most notably, there’s no TV), the streets of Monti outside should provide all the entertainment you need. *The flat is made up of two self-contained suites that share a courtyard*There's no TV in the main communal area (though the bedrooms do have one)*One of the bedrooms doesn't have bedside tables*One person can sleep on a sofa bed Air ConditioningBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherFanGardenHair DryerIronIroning BoardKitchenM...More Details

Although In Motion seems like a simple home at first glance, it hides a lot of interesting details. It feels as if the rooms were designed with the guest in mind, so aside from the minimalist essentials, you're left with a lot of space to move around, which helps maximise the natural light as well. But there's another side to this home – the perfectly harmonised colours and the well-curated art prove that it's been designed with care and subtlety. Located next to a tram stop on the ancient Via Flaminia, you'll have easy access to the centre. * There is no coffee machine in this home* There is no elevator to this third-floor home – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware* Four guests can sleep in this home, but the last two will need to settle for the sofa bed in the living room* The bedroom has no natural light unfortunately Air ConditioningBoard GamesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild...More Details
