    Verdi's Aria

This villa is in the quiet village of Giustiniana, looking out over the Lazio countryside yet within walking distance of restaurants, shops and a train station. It’s just a ten-minute drive from the centre of Rome. The villa is surrounded by a vast garden on three sides, furnished with everything needed for dining, sunbathing and relaxation. The interior is on the traditional side and the bathrooms in particular feel a little dated. But the living area is big and bright, there’s loads of room. The close proximity to Rome while retaining a sense of peace and quiet more than makes up for the decor. *All of the bedrooms are upstairs, so this place may not suit those with limited mobility.*One of the bedrooms can be arranged as a twin room or a double, just let your host know what you prefer.*Your host welcomes pets here, just let them know in advance of your stay.*While smoking is permitted, your host asks you to be particularly careful i...More Details

    Pantheon Vista

It’s hard to define the ‘perfect’ location in Rome, but Pantheon Vista makes a good go of it. Overlooking the famous dome, it’s just a stone’s throw from sights like Campo de’ Fiori and institutions like Caffè Sant’Eustachio. The interior is elegant, although the lack of natural light in the kitchen is a shame given the lovely cabinets and fittings. Two of the sofas double up as single beds, and the host is happy to have a party of four, but we think it might get a bit cramped and there’d be very little privacy, so only recommend it for two people. *There are no bedside tables*The layout of the flat makes the kitchen quite dark*Tall guests beware - the highest shower is 195cm*Wile the host is happy to have four guests, we think that it would be most comfortable with two Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherDryerFridgeHair DryerHangersIronKitchenK...More Details

    The Roman Flower

Warm and welcoming, this apartment makes for an excellent base for those seeking a slower pace in Rome. It’s just a few steps from Villa Borghese and its pretty gardens, close to the most popular tourist spots but without the crowds. You can easily explore the city using public transport, though you don’t need to travel far for great food – Pinciano Market is only 20 metres away. The apartment is a comfortable home-from-home, with everything you might need for a city break. There are desks in both of the bedrooms, ideal for those working remotely. *Well-behaved pets are welcome to join you during your stay.*There’s free on-street parking here.*There are stairs to climb at this home, so it may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility. *At full occupancy, one guest will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room. *There are desks here for those working remotely during their stay.*If you’re travelling with little ones, there’s a ...More Details

    Mirror Indigo

Design buffs need not look any further than Mirror Indigo – it’s inside the Alda Fendi Foundation, run by fashion royalty, and unlike anything else you’ll find in Rome. The ultramodern, stainless steel furniture and the antique Portuguese tiles go together perfectly, and create the overriding aesthetic of the space. It has two twin beds, rather than a double, and while the aesthetic seems spartan, each is very comfortable, and the level of service is equal to any you’d find in a five-star hotel. *As this is a serviced apartment, if you're after the feeling of a lived-in home, you won't find it here*Your host owns multiple apartments within this building, so the exact view, furnishings and layout might differ from the photos, but the size and standard will be the same*There's no double bed in this apartment, just two singles*There aren’t many basic ingredients provided Air ConditioningBathrobesBicyclesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral ...More Details

    Saintly Scenes

Set within two hectares of land, this charming country home offers some peace and tranquility just outside of Rome. Showcasing a little rustic style, you can expect wooden floors, ceiling beams and stone walls, creating a cosy ambiance throughout. The most impressive part of this home is perhaps the garden, which has fragrant flowers and plenty of green space for the whole family to stretch out. Relax on a sun lounger with a cup of coffee or play with the kids on the playground and trampoline, there's something for everyone here. If you fancy getting out and about, there are some beautiful hiking and biking trails in the area, plus the town of Rocca di Papa itself which houses many beautiful churches. However you spend your time, you'll always have a relaxing retreat to return to. Whip up rustic Italian feasts in the outdoor kitchen, thanks to a wood-burning oven and barbecue. The pergola is the perfect place to dine alfresco on warm eve...More Details

    Rolling Jade

This comfortable apartment in the beating heart of bohemian Trastevere embodies the 1940s. Unpretentious design and elegant furniture are the cornerstones of the interior, while a sense of calm deliberation hangs in the air. It’s punctuated by simple drawings in pencil, and the stunning wardrobe door – a brilliant jade green with iron and brass detailing. Peeks of the Gianicolo hills from the bedroom’s balcony only add to the peaceful ambiance. After a rich espresso in the quaint kitchen, get to know your old-world neighbourhood. Sidle down ivy-clad alleyways to happen upon traditional ristorantes and artisan shops. Piazza di Santa Maria, a favoured meeting place for locals and newcomers alike, is a five-minute walk from your home. Walk on for another five and you’ll reach the Botanical Garden of Rome. With its monumental fountains and bamboo grove, it’s a serene retreat away from the hubbub. *There's no standalone shower, just the hea...More Details

    Cityscape - Colour

If sightseeing is the top priority for your Rome city stay, then this apartment in Monti puts all the must-sees at your fingertips. You’ll find The Colosseum, Piazza Navona, The Pantheon, and St. Peter's Basilica, all within a ten-minute walk. The apartment is traditionally Roman but provides all the mod cons, including a balcony overlooking a courtyard, a washing machine and a well-equipped kitchen. There are two double sofa beds to offer flexibility if you're travelling in a larger group, though keep in mind you’ll be sharing two bathrooms here. And if you’re visiting with a little one, your host can provide a cot upon request. *At full capacity, four guests will sleep on the sofa beds in the living area. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot on request. *The entrance to the building is shared with other residents, so expect to bump into other guests during your stay. *Due to the central location, noise ...More Details

    Viola Cavaliere

This hidden gem, located on the banks of the River Tiber and across the way from Castel Sant'Angelo, is the perfect resting point for a fun-filled Roman adventure. With bright, airy spaces, smartly compact settings, and stunning views, all guests need to do is kick off their shoes and relax before heading out in search of culture and history. When it comes to the beautiful charm of the home, we especially like the curated book collection with works by Jane Austen and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The apartment is in walking distance of Piazza di Spagna, with its many restaurants and bars, making sumptuous breakfasts and candlelit dinners easier than ever.Since many of Rome's most iconic sights are right on your doorstep, touring is a breeze, with the Museo del'Ara Pacis and Mausoleo di Augusto being no more than a four-minute stroll, the Pantheon a mere eight-minute walk, and the Trevi Fountain rounding up to thirteen minutes, among many others,...More Details

    An Ode to Delia

Nestled in the heart of Rome, you’ll find many of the city’s top attractions within easy reach of this home. The nearest major hotspot is the Vatican City and its array of museums, only a short walk from the apartment. And with the Ottaviano Metro spot just six minutes away on foot, hopping around the city is easy. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable space to relax and a handy kitchenette suitable for preparing light bites. The dining table also doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace for those travelling for business. Just note that two people will be sleeping on the sofa bed if you’re here in a group of four. *The entrance to this home is shared with the building's other residents. *We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals. That said, you'll find plenty of restaurants nearby. *At full occupancy, two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area which might feel a little cramped. *T...More Details

This sixth-floor loft apartment does things differently. There’s no TV for starters, and the bedrooms are comfortable, yet not breathtaking. So what caught our discerning eye? Step out onto the 200sq/metre rooftop terrace, overlooking picturesque Rome and all of your questions will be answered. The decked terrace comes with a veranda cover, plenty of sofa seating and a table for alfresco dining – we can think of nothing better than warmer evenings spent out here with friends and family, eating, drinking and laughing as the sun goes down. While there's certainly a Roman rustic charm to the home, with its wooden floorboards and low beamed ceilings, the modern details really bring the living room and kitchen to life. Light pours in through the sleek crittall windows, extending the space out to the terrace and creating a bright and airy kitchen-diner area – the modern breakfast bar is the perfect spot to sip your morning espresso. When – al...More Details

    Mint Royale

Close to the Vatican City and Castel Sant'Angelo – both of which are a fifteen-minute walk away – this spacious five-bedroom apartment can comfortably accommodate your entire family, with enough bed space to bring some friends or relatives along for the ride. With wooden shuttered windows and an earthy terracotta glow, the exterior screams Rome. However, inside the apartment, generously proportioned communal spaces offer a contemporary vibe, with gleaming marble floors, a cool mint and light blue colour scheme, and modern furnishings throughout. Five uniquely decorated bedrooms combine exceptionally comfortable mattresses, bespoke beds and chintzy period details such as gleaming chandeliers, gilded picture frames and patterned wallpaper to create a totally unique style that we absolutely love. It's situated in the upmarket district of Prati, which serves as something of a corporate hub during the week. Notations is fairly simple, but it’s comfortable, and does what it says on the tin. You aren’t going to come across any nasty surprises. The living room’s a decent size, and it’s even got a small balcony (albeit an unfurnished one). This area of the city isn’t quite as evocative as some others, but the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica looms over the streets in an impressive manner. *Even though there's a lift most of the way, there are still some stairs you need to take to reach the flat*There's nothing wrong with the furniture, but it's not designer*When we measured the wi-fi it was very slow*The heating is controlled centrally by the building, so you won't have control over the hours that it's on*There's a single sofa bed in each bedroom, as well as a double sofa bed in the living room Accessible ParkingAir ConditioningAmazon PrimeBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking...More Details

    Roman Garden

This pied-à-terre makes for a wonderful base for Roman holidays. It’s a comfortable and convenient home in the lively Trastevere district, with all the major sights within easy reach. The incredible views of the city from Belvedere del Gianicolo are a ten-minute walk away, and you have your pick of some of the best restaurants right on your doorstep. It takes twenty-one minutes to meander along the river to Castel Sant’Angelo, and twenty-seven minutes to reach the Roman Forum – slightly longer if you stop into bars and cafes for refreshments, which we absolutely would. If the crowds and heat start to tire you, you might like to recharge your batteries at Orto Botanico di Roma. This university-owned botanical garden is a five-minute stroll from the front door, and is a haven. The apartment itself is a nice calm space, with windows looking out onto the garden below. Everything you need for a city break is here, so you can really make it a...More Details

    The Terrace Palermo

Classical Roman style is on full display at The Terrace Palermo. From the grand piano, the antiques, the artwork, and even the rustic structure itself send a rush to the head as you enter – it’s not the kind of place you'll forget in a hurry. It’s unashamedly ornate, and over-the-top but deliciously so. Sit down in the regal living room with a good book, while noticing the ornamental fireplace, frescoed ceiling and 17th-century paintings. Those working from home during their stay will find a traditional reading room that will have you powering through like never before. To stay here is to move into a bygone era of Roman refinement and sophistication. And this is all before you even reach the rooftop sun terrace – from here, you can look across the picturesque skyline, taking in the Colosseum on one side and the Presidential Palace on the other. It comes complete with all the different types of garden furniture, from a dining table and c...More Details

Small but stylish, this studio flat set in an ancient convent suits a solo traveller or a couple wanting a quaint getaway. It's a tiny flat – there are no two ways about it – but host Sara has made the most of the space. The design is eye-catching and trendy, with three-dimensional mirrored splashback, funky jungle wallpaper and shimmery curtains, and the whole place is utterly spotless. Plus, Sara hasn't overlooked a single detail – the welcome gift of fruit and wine made us feel right at home, while the toiletries in the bathroom (there's everything from slippers to cotton swabs and toothbrushes) are just icing on the cake. In the evenings, take your bottle of wine up to the communal roof and watch the sunset over Rome's rooftops. Centrally located between Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum (just a fifteen-minute walk away), Monti is the perfect spot to live like a local. Cobblestone streets are lined with vintage stores, chic cafes and...More Details

    The Yellow Jersey

Just a ten-minute walk from the Vatican Museums, this viable apartment works particularly well for larger groups of friends or family who value a bit more privacy than a standard flat might offer. The bedrooms are set up to be largely self-contained, with plenty of storage, and en-suite bathrooms all round. Each has its own look, although all three follow an industrial-style theme with artistic lighting and vibrant wallpaper prints – and for those keeping one eye on work during their stay, you'll find a well-designed desk space in each bedroom. There's a charming, mint-green kitchenette to whip up simple meals in and a quirky breakfast bar to map out the day's adventure. It’s true that the interior won’t be to everyone’s taste – it’s flashy and happy to show off a bit – but you can’t please everyone all the time. What you can do is ensure a certain level of quality, something that Nocino has no trouble with. Everything feels brand new, and from what we could see, it was all in perfect condition. Botanical Dreams

Rome is a great city for spotting frescoes, but these mainly date back hundreds — if not thousands — of years. This apartment in the San Saba neighbourhood of the city shows that the tradition is far from long-dead. In the living room and many of the bedrooms, a modern variation on the wall paintings can be seen, adding colour and a sense of grandiosity to the interior.Elsewhere, the design is wonderfully contemporary, particularly the curvy white dining chairs, sleek burgundy kitchen and equally pristine bathrooms. Another standout feature has to be the large private terrace, which has plenty of seating on which to enjoy the peace and quiet of this residential neighbourhood. When you're in the mood for sightseeing, possibly the most famous fresco in the world — Michaelangelo's ceiling in the Sistine Chapel — takes just under twenty minutes to reach by taxi, but there are other notable attractions a bit closer, too. The Baths of Caracall...More Details

    Gladiator Stripes

Decked out in intense colours and on the fourth floor with no lift, Gladiator Stripes isn’t one for the faint-hearted. We’re big fans of the look though, and it’s clear that the place is very well-kept. The host, Mary, also pushes the boat out when it comes to service - there’s a daily cleaning service and someone at reception until 11pm, as well as free laundry, great breakfast options, and recommendations of all the places tourists don’t know about. *Both sofas in the living room are really a cross between sofas, beds and benches*There's no lift in the building – you'll have to climb up four floors*Taller guests should know that the shower is only 190cm high*Guests 3 and 4 will be on the sofas in the communal area Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDryerFire ExtinguisherFireplaceFirst Aid KitFree Parking On PremisesFree Park...More Details

    L'Esploratrice

Coppedè isn’t the best-known quarter of the city, but it’s something of an undiscovered gem. The buildings, an enthralling mix of art nouveau, Greek classicism, medieval and baroque, were all built around the same time, and designed by the eponymous architect. As a flat, L'Esploratrice lives up to the area’s reputation for upmarket homes. It’s set over two floors, and retains many of the original, early-twentieth-century features – like the granite floors and carved wooden door frames. *The entrance to the flat is on the first floor, and you'll have to take the stairs to get there*When we visited, both the TV and wi-fi were not yet installed, so we weren't able to test them*The flat's a little way from the very centre of the city*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room*The second bathroom is very basic Air ConditioningBoard GamesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsEsp...More Details

    Centurion Sea

Sometimes when looking for a place to stay in a foreign city, you have to make a decision about what to prioritise, but this Roman apartment has all the bases covered. It’s in a great location in Monti — one of our favourite parts of the city, famous for vintage shops and undiscovered restaurants — but the interiors are just as much of a draw. The frescoed ceilings are perhaps the most striking element, a welcome nod to the history of both the building and the area, but the brightly coloured walls and touches of modernity — such as the transparent dining chairs and strikingly blue master bathroom — are also appreciated additions. The winning touch is the small balcony just off the kitchen, which has a charming view of the internal courtyard. *Even though the building has a lift, there's a short flight of stairs before you reach it so this home might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in ...More Details

    Kalos Spark

It’s clear that this penthouse is a special place as soon as you open the front door. Every feature of the home has been carefully curated, resulting in an eclectic, yet stylish aesthetic. There's a traditional air here, thanks to the sumptuous velvet sofa and the rustic wooden shutters, but there’s a real sense of fun to be found in the whimsical animal lamps and pretty patterned wallpaper. The annexe gives you some extra space to enjoy, and the roof terrace is an unusual but very welcome feature in the centre of the city. You'll love admiring the gorgeous views across the rooftops as you sip your morning coffee and nibble a croissant kindly provided by your host. They will provide basic cooking ingredients, such as oil and spices, but you'd rather eat out, then you are spoilt for choice in this pocket of Rome, with all the pizza and pasta restaurants you could dream of. The Piazza Navona is just a few steps away, while the Pantheon an...More Details
