The Lake Hideaway
First things first, Crystal isn’t in the middle of Milan (it’s actually not in Milan at all), so if you’re hoping to wake up with a view of the Duomo, this isn’t the best place. However, it’s not hard to get into the city during the day, as there’s a metro station about ten minutes from the flat, and if you need to get to the Mediolanum Forum, it’s fantastically placed. And the flat itself is lovely. Part of a newish development, everything is modern, and there’s tonnes of space, indoors and out. Of course, it’s also kept in immaculate condition by Chantal. *This is a long way from the centre Milan – there's a metro that can take you into the city, but there's no chance of getting in on foot*There's an enormous shopping centre just to the south of the flat, so you can expect it to get busy during the day*If you're staying for any length of time, you might have to chip in and help water the plants*The en-suite bathroom doesn't have any ...More Details

At the water's edge, take the funicular up to the charming town of Brunate where you'll revel in jaw-dropping views of the lake. Later in the afternoon, go on an unforgettable woodland walk to the Baroque Villa Balbianello, where you'll sit on the terrace with gelato and admire the views of Vergonese and Bellagio off in the distance – we loved making memories that will last a lifetime. * For your convenience, there is an elevator in the building* The mezzanine bedroom is open to th...More Details

From the playful mirror in the bathroom to the tree-trunk dining table, Herbarium is a relaxed apartment with a socially conducive atmosphere – a place where it's easy to feel at home. * There are several steps leading to the elevator – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware* When we tested this home, the WiFi wasn't working – but the host is on the case* This is a lived-in home, so there are a few personal objects dotted around the apartment* Aside from the TV with local channels, there aren't many entertainment options available * Although the nearest metro station is only a minute away, this home isn't ex...More Details
Blissful Nest
The sheer amount of natural light in Seedling is remarkable. It’s hard to overestimate the effect that can have on a flat. There’s a relaxed atmosphere to the place, underscored by the abundance of plants and books. It feels like somewhere to retreat to after a day out, whether sightseeing or working. Equally though, you could easily spend hours lounging around that living room. If you couldn’t tell, we’re rather taken by Seedling. *The building has a doorman, but only until 5pm*There are quite a few scuff marks and scratches on the walls*We came across a fair amount of Violetta's belongings when we visited*It's a matter of preference, not a criticism, but the mattress is fairly soft*The shower is 180cm high – tall people might have to duck*There's no dishwasher Air ConditioningBalcony / PatioBathtubBicyclesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCleaning ProductsCooking EssentialsDishwasherDoormanDryerDrying RackFreeze...More Details

Negroni Sbagliato
While the location (a quiet street between the Duomo and Navigli) is an obvious draw of Phantom, there are other benefits to staying here. It’s a really good size for two people (using the sofa bed is possible, but not necessarily recommended), and the large windows bring in lots of natural light. It’s also worth mentioning the level of service offered by Laura and her team. They’re super professional, and while it’s clearly not a lived-in home, everything runs very smoothly. *There's no separation between the living room and the bedroom*While it's nice to have the balcony, it isn't really large enough to socialise on*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room, but they'd have no privacy Air ConditioningBalconyBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherDryerDVD PlayerFridgeHair DryerHangersIronIroning BoardKitchenKitchen UtensilsLaptop...More Details
It might seem like a strange place to start, but Ensign’s kitchen is quite remarkable. Of course, not everyone will appreciate the over-the-top design, but the commitment is undeniable. All in all, it comes together well, with a real sense of playfulness. It’s small enough that long-term stays might end with you feeling a bit cooped up, but for shorter stays, it’s more than enough. *As the flat is on the ground floor, there are bars on the windows*It's quite a small flat, without a real living room*There's no dishwasher or laundry facilities*There isn't much going on in the immediate area, and it takes half an hour to get to the city centre on the metro*Some of the decor is playful yet definitely bold Air ConditioningAmazon PrimeBathrobesBlenderBoard GamesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCleaning ProductsCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDVD LibraryDVD PlayerElectricity AdaptorsExtra Pillows and BlanketsFir...More Details

The Grand Stag
At first glance, you wouldn't know this contemporary abode is housed in a historic Italian building. Tastefully modernised to suit twenty-first-century visitors to Milan, the bright apartment is the perfect base for couples or groups of three. The decor is pared-back but polished, with navy blue accents throughout. Our highlight has to be the velvety sofa – we can't picture a more inviting spot to sink into after a long day of sightseeing. The botanical wallpaper in the bedroom gives this pad the feel of a boutique hotel, with the added benefit of a fully-equipped kitchen so you can dine at home when it suits. If you're arriving by train, this home is just a ten-minute walk from the central station, and only a few minutes further you'll find the bohemian neighbourhood of Isola. This buzzy part of town is filled with laid-back eateries and quirky shops. You're also just a couple of stops from the heart of Milan, with its world-famous Duomo...More Details

While the design of Orpington won’t make your heart flutter, there are other reasons it makes a good spot to stay. It’s a decent size, and the balcony is great for fresh air, even if it isn’t decked out with furniture. Above all though, Orpington is very good value for money, and you’ll struggle to find anything comparable in that budget so close to both CityLife and Sempione Park. *Even though there's a lift to reach the third floor, you'll still have to climb a short flight of stairs*The lamp in the living room is the only source of artificial light in there, and it's also hanging quite low, so watch your head when you stand up*There are no basic ingredients provided, and the kitchen lacks a kettle, toaster and coffee machine*The dishwasher door can come up against a cabinet door which can make opening it a little fiddly Air ConditioningBalconyBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectrici...More Details
