Laguna is in a great position for getting to some of the most famous sights (most notably the Bridge of Sighs and the Arsenale), but its real draw is the view of the water outside. Even with the cruise ships and the tourists, something about Venice still evokes the splendour of the Doge’s era, and Repubblica Heights manages (pretty well, we might add) to hold onto some of that magic. From the statue on the terrace to the crowns hanging above the bed, everything about the flat gives a feeling of fading, but still impressive, glory. On a practical level, it’s huge, but this isn’t the kind of flat that you pick based on the practicalities. There's something rather grand about this apartment in the historic centre of Venice. The high ceilings, parquet flooring and tall windows combine together for a classy backdrop, against which the selection of contemporary furnishings and modern artwork really stand out. Add to that an industrial-style kitchen, a few large bedrooms and boldly coloured bathrooms, and you have an address that is as memorable as the city outside the front door.
