    Lochside Hideaway

A five-minute walk from the shores of Loch Alvie, this traditional Scottish cottage sits within the Cairngorms National Park. Walking trails and towering munros are on your doorstep and the outdoor activity haven of Aviemore is just a five-minute drive away. The exterior of this cottage is as traditional as it gets, with a white-stone facade and slate-grey roof like the crofters’ cottages of old. It gets a little more modern inside with comfy leather sofas and mod-cons in the kitchen, but the brass bedframes, free-standing bathtub and crackling wood-burning in the living room are all about that cottagecore aesthetic. Slide open the glass doors in the dining area and step out onto the secluded back patio where there’s alfresco dining for sunny days and a fire pit for chilly nights. *Bedroom three has a single bed and a set of bunkbeds, so is only really suitable for children*There is free parking on premises*Pets are welcome, just let y...More Details

    Castle Looming

Cosy and charming, this first-floor apartment boasts views of Edinburgh Castle. Alongside the historic panoramas, we love the sense of space here – three sumptuous bedrooms, a large kitchen, and a comfortable lounge provide ample room for family gatherings. There's even a small workspace if you're travelling on business. And, of course, the location is brilliant. You'll be a five-minute walk from buzzing Princes Street, while the Royal Mile and other Old Town attractions are just a bit further. Plan on driving? While no allocated parking is provided, a public car park is just across the street. *Two of the super king-sized beds can be arranged as singles on request. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free travel cot and high chair on request. *This apartment is on the first floor and is reachable by stairs only. It's not suitable for those with mobility issues. *Given this apartment's central spot near Prin...More Details

    Dock on the Loch

Perched between the Scottish Lowlands and the sea on a 2000-acre private estate fringing Portpatrick, the setting of this lodge has to be seen to be believed. It's truly a home for all seasons. Summer nights are all about barbecues, soaks in the outdoor bath, and marshmallow toasting around the firepit. Meanwhile, winter evenings are made for cosying up with hearty meals delivered to your door (available for a fee) after exploring the grounds. There are plenty of on-site activities to take advantage of here, too. We're talking private dock on the loch for boating, guided hikes, wild swimming, maze running, wildlife tracking, yoga sessions, and beach picnics – and that’s just the start. *This home is one of an exclusive collection of lodges set within the estate’s grounds. While you’ll share the grounds with other guests, you’ll have your own garden with a patio and barbecue, as well as a private dock on the loch.*The two en-suite bathr...More Details

    An Seòmar Buidhe

Just over a twenty-minute walk from the heart and soul of the Old Town – Edinburgh Castle – the New Town has quite a different vibe. You’ll find Georgian architecture nearly everywhere you turn, and historic tenement buildings lining the streets as you head towards Canonmills. While these stone structures might look similar from the outside, we can guarantee you'll find eclectic homes within. This flat is no exception. The owner is a local artist, whose creative interior design choices are evident throughout. You’ll find her charming, abstract artwork on display in various rooms, as well as brightly-coloured walls, quirky tablecloth prints, antique furniture, and unique lamps on ornate cabinets. Our favourite spot has to be the lounge – this yellow room is full of character and old-world charm. Light up the fire and gather everyone round for a board game on a rainy day in this sumptuous space. Or at dusk, it could equally serve as a plu...More Details

    Fallow Deer

If you’re looking for a rural escape, this delightful cottage in Carlincraig is sure to fit the bill. Although just over 30 miles from Aberdeen, also known as The Silver City due to its granite buildings, this home feels a world away from any sort of metropolis. Upon arrival, rolling hills and fields stretch for miles around this stony bolthole in the countryside. But the experience isn’t exactly rustic. Your host welcomes you with a luxury hamper, packed with nibbles and a bottle of champagne. Light up the wood-burning stove, get cosy under the ANTA of Scotland blankets, and say cheers to luxe country living. On sunny days in the garden, the little ones can keep entertained with the swing-ball set, or building their secret den in the tipi. And while they play, you can get round to lighting up the barbecue. Perhaps you could even indulge in a wee dram of whisky to stay warm while you wait. Of course, if you’re not in the mood for cookin...More Details

    Foot of the Mount

We think this period home in Grassmarket has one of the best views in the city and the proof is in the imposing shape of Edinburgh Castle that you look up at from the comfort of your sofa. Sat at the base of the great Castle Rock itself, this home couldn't be much closer to the city's number one attraction. Located in one of Edinburgh's oldest streets, it's in a beautiful building, surrounded by cafes and restaurants. Inside, character features include an impressive cast iron fireplace, wood floors and tall windows. Furniture is classical and elegant, with a scattering of antique pieces and vintage art, but the kitchen is impeccably modern with clean lines and all the appliances you could need. Originally where royal horses were kept, the neighbourhood is busy and thriving. Right at the heart of things, you'll just have to head up nearby Grannie's Green Steps to get to the castle. *You'll have a shared entrance to reach the flat*There'...More Details

    Highland Heather

Set in a historic Edwardian castle estate stretching across 2000 acres of glen walks, forests, beaches, lochs, gardens and waterfalls, this bonnie cottage is poised to provide you with an endlessly romantic, back-to-nature stay. Located in the heart of picturesque Portpatrick – one of Scotland's prettiest seaside towns – you'll have the long beaches and tidal rushes of Dunskey Glen a short stroll from your cosy home base. We love the bohemian aesthetic and eclectic interiors, especially the rose petal wallpapers that give an air of stately grandeur from the get-go. Dreamy chandeliers and plant-themed prints fill the spaces with a homely touch, while the pink velvet sofa and grand upholstered bed make a striking impression with spades of glossy glamour. After a day exploring, curl up in front of the wood-burning stove with a good book and a tipple of whisky. On warmer nights, step out onto a private courtyard boasting an outdoor bathtub ...More Details

    A Gaggle of Geese

This cottage sits on a 2000-acre estate where walking trails through the woodlands bring you to waterfalls, lochs and the craggy coastline of Dumfries and Galloway. A forty-minute stroll down a forest track brings you to a deserted beach, and the coastal town of Portpatrick is a twenty-minute walk away. A welcome pack of local produce – eggs, butter, bread, home baking, artisanal cheese and the estate’s handmade toiletries – awaits you on arrival. Perhaps head out to the sunny dining spot on the lawn for your first meal. Here you’ll find a fire pit to keep the evening chill at bay. The home itself is beautifully decorated. The living room is like a wild meadow with its magenta and violet mural of wild birds and flowers and pot plants seem to fill every nook. Yet there’s a grand feeling to the tufted velvet sofas, and the writer’s desk in the corner is an Edwardian antique from Dunskey Castle itself. Once the wood-burner is crackling awa...More Details

    Lady Macbeth

Overlooking North Inch Park and the River Tay, this classic apartment sits in a handsome, Georgian building. High ceilings, detailed cornicing and big sash windows all combine to create the feeling of stepping back into the 19th century inside. The grand entrance hall with old maps on the wall sets the tone of tradition and opulence. Heading through to the living room you’re met with park views and a drawing room feel from Persian rugs and plush sofas with faux fur throws. The dine-in kitchen is more than big enough to accommodate the bustle of family breakfast time, and there’s dining for the whole group at the long table. We particularly love the quirky design touches in the bedrooms – a headboard depicting a bucolic etching and a sparkling chandelier in the smallest bedroom. At the end of the day, the claw-footed tub in the main bathroom beckons for a long soak. You’re in the centre of Perth here, where a few steps sees you following...More Details

    The Old Mill House

This rustic, 17th-century mill has been turned into a luxury nook in the Scottish Borders. You can see the old but still operating waterwheel, contrasted against the roses and flowering lavender on the old miller's house next door. A wood-burning stove sits are the heart of the home, keeping things cosy warm in winter (your host will leave detailed instructions on how to light it so you’ll become an expert). The classy, aubergine-purple kitchen is well stocked with artisan crockery and everything you need to cook up a holiday meal. The mill’s original mezzanine floor has been converted into a plush bedroom with a roll-top bath. Heading outside, you’ll find a small, private woodland garden with table and chairs. The Horticulturalist

Each season brings a new vista to the sprawling, 2000-acre estate this home is set on. Spring brings carpets of bluebells to the forest walks, winter sees snowdrops poking their heads through the undergrowth and in the summer, rhododendrons burst onto the scene in magenta and crimson. Back in the day, this grand stone cottage was set aside for the estate’s gardener and the decor leans into the horticultural theme with a stunning mural of ferns, forest and foxes in the living room. Floral patterned rugs sit on the hardwood floor, and faux fur blankets on tufted leather sofas keep the living room feeling cosy on cold nights. Get a fire crackling in the grate when the temperature drops. The kitchen is designed for farmhouse-style cooking with a big range cooker in the centre. It’s the decor that really grabs your attention though, with a handful of plates and vintage posters adorning the duck-egg-blue walls. Outside you’ll find a huge priv...More Details

    The Young Chevalier

Harking back to the Georgian era, when Edinburgh’s leafy New Town was, well, new, this apartment is filled with antiques and curios. It sits on a grand cul-de-sac, a five-minute walk from Princes Street in the heart of Edinburgh. The surrounding streets are home to fine-dining restaurants and the buzzing bar hubs of Rose Street and George Street are just a four-minute walk. Inside, this apartment is simply stunning. High ceilings corniced like icing and huge sash windows set the tone of grandeur and each vintage piece has been carefully selected to give an Art Deco feel. Quirks like the gramophone and typewriter in the living room and hand-painted fireguards in the bedrooms are what really make this place feel special. The vintage-style kitchen may have been designed around the original Shefco pantry, but it has all the mod-cons of the 21st century. Mix up a whisky cocktail at the mid-century bar table, stick a record on the gramophone ...More Details

    Butter Shortbread

This home has been creating a bit of a buzz, and for all the right reasons. It's been featured by the BBC, and is a shining example of Scottish hospitality in the city of Inverness. Step inside, and you'll find a cosy space with plenty of seating, ideal for flopping down with a glass of whisky at the end of a long day exploring. The hosts have put great thought into every aspect of this home, from the luxury toiletries to the Bose speaker systems in every bedroom and the extra-large bathtub where you can soak in perfect peace. And, the hosts try to buy local wherever possible – once you've tried a cup of the locally-roasted coffee along with a freshly-baked slice of shortbread, you'll understand why. You're just a few steps away from the banks of the River Ness, and Inverness Castle is less than five minutes away from your front door, along with a range of shops and restaurants in the city centre. The Gilderoy

This is a genuinely special home, with an abundance of character and sophistication, with everything finished to a high quality. The location was equally impressive, found on a quiet cobbled street just off a main busy road, within walking distance of the city centre. While the striking master bedroom came close, the living room was our favourite room in the home. It feels almost like an old school drawing room, but with an added comfort factor. There's also great attention to detail, such as the drawer of hot water bottles in the kitchen for those rainy Scottish evenings. * There's no lift in the building so you will need to climb some stairs to reach the home on the first floor * The master bedroom has an en-suite, but the other three guests will share a bathroom* The fireplaces are just decorative*The tram stop taking you to the airport is a short four minute walk from the flat BathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide Detec...More Details

    Empress of the North

We're into the Scandi-inspired interiors of this Old Town apartment, but we love its location even more. Located on an iconic street serialised in Alexander McCall Smith’s beloved Scotland Street books, this beautiful Georgian apartment combines nineteenth-century elegance with luxury modern comforts. Tall corniced ceilings, wood floors and an abundance of light coming in through the sash windows create an instantly welcoming feel with chic, contemporary furnishings inviting you to make yourself at home. We love the living room’s large suede sofas that beckon relaxing evenings over a glass of wine by the period working fireplace, and the large kitchen bathed in natural light that’s ready to cater celebratory feasts aplenty. The three bedrooms, meanwhile, have each been carefully curated with a sophisticated touch and boast similarly large windows that give way to New Town views. We’re particularly fond of the main bedroom’s en-suite – a spa-like space with its rainfall shower and tempting tub, the latter providing the perfect end to a nigh...More Details

    Under The Camellia Tree

Tucked away in the grounds of a 2,000-acre coastal estate, this quaint cottage and its enchanting surrounding are plucked from the pages of a storybook. Inside, the home oozes elegance with plush fabrics and romantic cherry blossom hues. When we stayed, we were smitten with the Japanese rice-paper screen, mother-of-pearl headboard and the underfloor heating that kept our toes toasty after long yomps through the grounds. While the kitchen is fully stocked with accoutrements for rustling up your favourite dinners, call upon your host’s head chef to deliver a Michelin-quality meal straight to your table. After a cup of tea in the sunshine on your quiet patio, pull on your walking shoes and explore. You’ll find secret waterfalls, lochs and a maze right on your doorstep. Jump in the car and take the eight-minute drive to Killantringan Lighthouse or if you’re feeling brave, plunge into the brisk Irish Sea at Knock Bay Beach. Return back to yo...More Details

    Once Upon a Fairytale

Dating back over 170 years, this beautiful home in the Scottish Borders was updated in 1870 to take on the Scottish Baronial features that gave it its fairytale castle look, but it was only in the late 70s that the incredible vaulted ceiling was discovered and the mezzanine was added to update the home to what it is today. Of course there has been modernisation since to give it the contemporary, but homely, feel and the result is an ambient, open space that encourages rest and relaxation. With the windows stretching up to towards the ceiling, there’s plenty of natural light and bookworms will rejoice to find a little home library on the mezzanine where they’re able to curl up with any of the good books on offer. Look out over the lounge from up there and when you get a little cold, head down to kindle the fireplace so you can watch the flames dance between every turn of the page. Musicians can retire to the piano room to hone their skil...More Details
