One of the oldest areas of Madrid, Barrio de Huertas is known for bustling plazas, local eateries and streets lined with cafes and tapas bars. It's right in the thick of the action, so you'll be able to explore Madrid's many sights with ease, including Puerta del Sol (a ten-minute stroll), Plaza Mayor (walkable in fifteen) and Parque de El Retiro (also fifteen minutes on foot). Everything else is a quick ride away on the metro – and thankfully, Antón Martín station is mere steps from this flat. When you're not taking advantage of this central spot, come home to this stylish and pared-back apartment. It's minimalist in design but still comfortable, especially with the French door flung open and the breeze blowing through. Shop for fresh produce and bottles of wine at Mercado Antón Martin across the street and prepare a romantic meal for two in the glossy kitchen, followed by a cuddle session on the cushy sofa. Perfect for two, we think th...More Details

Tucked away in a typical Madrid townhouse in Chamberí, Grottino is a great base to explore the city. The streets surrounding this home are part of a neighbourhood that's just as opulent as Salamanca, yet closer to the old centre – which is great for a first-time visitor. Grottino might not be the brightest home in our collection, but a lot of care has been invested in designing the lighting in this small home, so that it resembles an urban chalet. We particularly liked the brick wall in the bathroom and the chic kitchenette. * Even though the artificial light is well-executed, it's worth mentioning that there's no natural light in this home* The TV is quite old and only equipped with local channels* The kitchenette only has the bare basics – not ideal for avid cooks* There is no air conditioning in this home * There's also no dining area in this home Buzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherHair DryerKitchenLift AccessMicro...More Details

Residential Chamberí might not be smack in the middle of Madrid's theatre scene, but if you're in town to relax and see it on your own terms, then you'll appreciate the quieter neighbourhood. Paquelin is a comfortable home in the heart of it, immaculate and simple. With only a few art prints on the walls (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and generally inobtrusive furniture, it's the kind of home that will best suit an adventurous family who will make it their own. The kitchen is on the smaller side, but it's still well equipped and bright. * There are several steps leading to the elevator - no step-free access unfortunately* Our home critic reported that the entrance to this building was hard to find – keep in touch with the lovely host if you have any trouble* The WiFi was a little patchy in the second bedroom when we tested* There are no curtains in this home* Although the kitchen is well-equipped with appliances, it doesn't have the bas...More Details

The elegant combination of Nordic interior design styles with fashionable industrial fittings make this newly renovated apartment a great choice. It's genuinely cosy and comfortable and the original artwork on the walls gives it a distinctly homey vibe. Two sweet balconies look out onto the typically graffitied streets of trendy Malasaña neighbourhood, and a tonne of quirky cafes, bakeries, restaurants and vintage shops are all close by. Ideal for a younger crowd, it's a ten-minute walk to central Gran Via, and fifteen to the busy Puerta del Sol. *Access to this apartment is by stairs only – not suitable for wheelchair users*Malasaña is brilliantly vibrant area caked in graffiti – those looking for something a bit cleaner and more conservative should look elsewhere*We're admittedly quite a picky bunch but the provision of toilet paper and complimentary toiletries is not as generous as we would want it to be *We couldn't locate any coff...More Details
