    Coast - Country

This beautiful lodge is situated in Penally, on the periphery of Tenby with superb pastoral views. We think this home offers the best of both worlds – it combines quiet country living with the coastal charm of a seaside getaway. You're just a ten-minute drive away from Tenby's award-winning South Beach, and it's just a little further into Tenby's town centre. From there, you can admire the pastel-coloured houses, marvel at the ruins of Tenby Castle, and even take a boat trip to neighbouring Caldey Island. Closer to home, you'll find a couple of award-winning restaurants, two cosy pubs, and a village shop in Penally. When you've had your fill of adventures, relax back at this homely bolthole, and soak up the rural scenery. Wander through the open-plan living area and throw open the lovely French doors to indulge in a delicious alfresco breakfast. Come evening, you can fire up the charcoal barbecue for a feast on the terrace as you watch ...More Details

    Mother Bear

There's something effortlessly sophisticated about this apartment in the Welsh resort town of Penarth. The huge window that runs across one side of the home across both floors means that the interior is never short of natural light and the design choices have been made to accentuate this gift, especially the sleek kitchen surfaces, white walls and parquet-style flooring. As well as being gloriously modern in style, there's a whole host of perks that come with this address, too. On the second floor, you'll find a small balcony that overlooks the complex's courtyard with room to sit and enjoy some peace. The building also has a gym taking up the ground floor, for which guests get complimentary access during their stay.Penarth has plenty of coastal attractions to keep you occupied, including a pier and marina both fifteen minutes' walk away. The centre of Cardiff takes a similar amount of time to reach on the train, while Barry Island and i...More Details

    Touched by Legend

Hidden away among bucolic south Welsh countryside, the estate on which this chateau-style house sits on dates back to the 14th century. However, those visiting in the 21st century will find a whole host of reasons to fall in love with the property.Walking around the interior is a bit like wandering about a museum for there are historic features everywhere you look, whether it's the stained glass window, ornate fireplace or Elizabethan-era staircase. The wood-panelled drawing room is a particular favourite of ours, mostly for the fact that it contains a secret door leading to the library. If we've made it sound fusty and dusty so far, that couldn't be further from the truth. Most of the interior design is fresh and contemporary — the sleek kitchen stands as proof of that — while the number of modern amenities at guests' disposal would put many hotels to shame. Out in the two acres of private gardens, you'll find everything from an indoor ...More Details

    Green Hill

A lot of things have changed since this cottage was built in the nineteenth century, but we're willing to bet that the surrounding view of the Upper Towy Valley and Cambrian Mountains is just as mesmerising as it was all those years ago.Inside, a couple of period features also remain, like the mighty stone fireplace that acts as a natural focal point in the living space. However, there have been enough contemporary additions to ensure that the address well and truly belongs in the twenty-first century. You only have to look at the modern kitchen, the bedrooms painted in a soothing white and the subway-tiled shower to see what we mean.Out through the front door, there's a small patio with seating so you can admire the gorgeous scenery and watch the neighbouring sheep – which sometimes come to graze right up to the home's windows. Come nighttime, stargazing is made all the more beautiful by the fact that the property sits in a designated ...More Details

Morning coffees are best enjoyed out here, swinging in the hanging egg chair or around the garden table. This unique home nestled in the Swansea Valley is the ideal place to begin your adventures in south Wales. With easy access to both the Brecon Beacons National Park and the coast, you'll love spending your downtime in these wonderfully peaceful surroundings. The Wild Flower

Catching our eye with its colourful living area and terrace, we think this flat in hip Pontcanna is perfect for two style-conscious couples. If alfresco dining is out of bounds due to drizzle, the breakfast bar can squeeze everyone around it for indoor meals. While the bedrooms are a little snug – the second requires one guest to climb over the bed to reach their side – they are cosy spots to rest after a day exploring Bute Park and Cardiff city centre (twenty-five minutes on foot or ten by bus). Closer to home, you'll find quaint eateries and cosy pubs just a short stroll away. *The bedrooms are quite small with limited storage space. However, they have everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep. Also, the bed in the second bedroom is against a wall on one side and at its foot. The Sweetness of Water

If being close to the ocean is your priority, this home delivers in spades. Not only is this apartment situated directly across from Tenby's North Beach, but the private patio has breathtaking views of the harbour and beyond. Morning, noon or night, there's no better spot to sit and relax, listening to the crash of the waves, observing the boats and watching the sun sink over the water. It's pure bliss, as far as we're concerned, and it's made even better by the sleek interior awaiting you in the living area. There are fun nautical elements dotted about, yet even with the seaside motif, the design never feels passe. In fact, we think the whole thing is rather smart, with a dark blue kitchen, luxe rainfall showers in the glossy bathrooms and even a wine fridge for your bottles of bubbly. When you're not at home soaking up the view or lounging on the sofa, spend your time wandering through Tenby's walled centre, admiring the colourful hou...More Details

    Literary Ambitions

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda. No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway. If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century la...More Details

    The Manor by the Sea

Take over this Victorian manor home, perched on a hillside overlooking Pendine Sands. Offering nine bedrooms, each with separate bathrooms, this palatial home has a multi-generational family stay written all over it. Kids will love you for the cinema room and separate games cabin in the gardens. And who wouldn’t be impressed with that grand dining room commanding sea views and a hot tub to soak up the sunset vistas? If we were being picky, some of the interiors feel a little tired in places. But for a home of this size, we can forgive that. Location-wise, you’re a short walk from the seven-mile-long beach and Pendine's seaside resort centre. *There is private parking for six cars outside the home.*A travel cot and high chair are available on request.*One of the bedrooms has four single beds sleeping four guests in total, although there's limited storage space. You might want to pack light.*The traditional decor here might not be to eve...More Details

    Master Draughtsman

Overlooking Tenby's South Beach, this apartment on the lower-ground floor of a handsome yellow building is ideal for those who want to be able to go from their front door to the seaside in a matter of seconds, rather than minutes.Aside from this proximity to the sea, we found lots else to like about the home. The design is pared-back and sophisticated, with parquet floors, white walls and a selection of chic furnishings creating the relaxed ambience of a high-end hotel's lobby. The baby-blue kitchen is both super-sleek and big enough for cooking up hearty meals, while there's also a private courtyard outside just in case the weather's nice enough to dine alfresco. If that's the case, there's plenty to see and do in this south Welsh idyll. Tenby Castle is only ten minutes' walk up the coast, as is the town's Museum and Art Gallery. This area by the North Beach is also where you can catch a ferry to Caldey Island, on which you can visit th...More Details
