    Authentic Italian village house

Take a break from the heat and the bustle of the big city of Rome and experience living and remote working in an authentic Italian village, in your cozy home in Nemi. Nemi is located in the Alban Hills, a quiescent volcanic complex just outside (approx 20 km southeast) of Rome. The hills, especially around the shores of the lakes, have been popular since prehistoric times, and there are numerous villages and towns, . the Castelli Romani. Boasting wonderful views over the Roman countryside from its perch high above the lake with which it shares its name, beautiful Nemi is one of the Castelli`s must-visit destinations. The tiny historic centre is a character-filled tangle of narrow streets unfolding around imposing Palazzo Ruspoli and the adjacent piazza. Besides the spectacular panoramas, Nemi`s real draw is the local variety of strawberry: smaller than your average fragola, these little gems are bursting with flavour and can be...More Details

Simple yet practical with an emphasis on comfort and privacy, rather than any delusions of grandeur, this home offers a humble stay that provides a relaxing atmosphere to return to after action-packed trips out in Rome. Where the apartment really comes alive is in the personality of the space. Strange as it might seem, the home has something of a sense of humour and playfulness that manifests itself in the design and decorations. Mid-century furniture creates a rather European set-up as it's clear from the moment you step inside that you're on holiday in Italy. House plants, terracotta bedroom walls and quirky artwork set the scene for an authentic stay with bags of character. Since Rome's world-renowned sights are all within close reach, you'll have an idyllic base from which to explore the city with ease. Take a ten-minute stroll to Villa Borghese or hop on the easily accessible bus and tram lines to visit tourist attractions further ...More Details

The main draw of Trinity is the unusual layout - three independent apartments all joined together, allowing up to 10 people to travel together but maintain a high degree of privacy. The place is looked after well, and guests are welcomed with wine and plenty of breakfast supplies. The décor might be quite divisive and it is a way out of the city centre - both of these are worth considering but ultimately it offers an experience unlike most others when it comes to renting in Rome. *The interior design won't be to everyone's taste*The surrounding area is fairly residential and not central*There are a few signs of wear and tear around the apartment*Guests 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be on two double sofa beds in the living rooms Air ConditioningBalconyBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDryerHair DryerIronIroning BoardLift AccessMultiple Sets of KeysPets AllowedTVUmbrellasWashing MachineWelcome HamperWi-fi...More Details

Much like its sister, Fern Fronds, in the same building, Fern Leaves is incredibly well kept and in a really good location - a residential street between the Borghese Gardens and Via Veneto, with the Piazza di Spagna only a short walk away. In Arcadia

Experience the Eternal City in the lap of luxury in this stunning palazzo, right in the heart of Rome's historic centre. Built in the early 16th century, esteemed Renaissance artist Giorgio Vasari considered this address one of the finest palaces in the city. Every inch of this breathtaking home has been painstakingly maintained, renovated, and in some cases, enhanced to create an opulent setting that celebrates its storied history and updates it for modern living. The vast living room is the jewel in the crown. Here, play billiards beneath museum-grade frescoes painted by many of the Baroque era's most famous artists, with eye-catching contemporary pieces adorning the walls and elegant furnishings sitting seamlessly alongside ornate original features. Each of the five bedrooms brings its own charm. You'll find three on the main level with soaring 30ft ceilings and two on the upper mezzanine floor that put you at eye level with exquisite...More Details

Step out of your building’s front door to be immediately greeted by the Colosseum at the end of the road. It’s an unrivalled location and despite neighbouring a global landmark, the quieter street retains a local charm. Inside, the apartment is wonderfully maintained with thoughtful design. The original character of the property shines – timber beams have been lovingly restored and counterpoint some of the more modern touches. We particularly liked the textured wallpaper above the bed and the matching set of Smeg kitchen appliances. After sipping an espresso and watching the daybreak over the Colosseum from your window, hit the pavements and get a closer look at Rome’s headline acts. The Roman Forum, Arch of Titus and the Via Sacra are all within a ten-minute walk. Plus, museums, piazzas and the iconic Pantheon are a seventeen-minute bus trip or ten-minute taxi ride away. *Child-friendly amenities such as a cot and high chair are avai...More Details

    Il Balcone Romano

Though this roomy apartment is based in a seventeenth-century palazzo, rustic charm is not the only thing on offer. While there are plenty of characterful touches here (think vaulted ceilings, arched doorways, even an original spiral staircase made of Roman brick), what makes this home stand out are the twenty-first-century updates. We're talking a lofted glass mezzanine, a two-seater sauna in the downstairs bedroom (the perfect way to relax after a busy day exploring Rome), a separate fitness room with a treadmill for squeezing in workouts and a contemporary kitchen that makes cooking a breeze. There's even a shady patio – whether you're sipping espresso in the mornings or enjoying an alfresco dinner in the Italian sunshine, it's an excellent spot to unwind. And you couldn't ask for a better location to take it all in. Piazza Navona is just a three-minute stroll away, and other world-famous landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and the Pan...More Details

    Monti Bella

We understand location is everything when visiting a city like Rome, and this spot in Monti is within easy walking distance of The Colosseum and the Roman Forum. While Rome is best explored on foot, you’ll also find Cavour metro station a few steps away. The apartment is minimal and a little dated in style, but perfectly practical for a city break, and while the click-clack style sofa bed accommodates a third and fourth guest, it might not suit those staying for longer than a couple of nights. Since the kitchen is better for light bites, we think you'll enjoy making the most of the culinary hotspots nearby. *At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. It's on the smaller side, so we think it's best for children.*This home is located within an apartment building. Expect to bump into other guests during your stay. *You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited ...More Details

    Desiderata

It almost seems redundant to try to talk about this magical spot in the heart of Rome – we’ll never be able to do it justice like the photos can. In stunning condition, the apartment hasn't aged at all and invites guests into a time capsule filled with spectacular artworks, antique furniture and original features that are usually only reserved these days for royal palaces and museums alike. Secret doorways and passageways give way to a one-of-a-kind experience and continuous surprises no matter how long you stay. You needn't bother visiting the crowded galleries and museums that the city is so often renowned for, as you'll have your very own gallery at home. Almost every wall is adorned with oil paintings or sumptuous wallpaper, inviting guests to experience the kind of opulence that few ever get to know. And with the vast array of world cuisine and Italian gastronomy at your fingertips, be sure to discover some of Rome's top restaurant...More Details

    The Sun Saint

Not far from the Vatican, this apartment is an excellent family option. Though the living area isn't the largest, there's plenty of space across the five bedrooms. The kitchen is well-stocked if you fancy a home-cooked meal, but for something extra special, your host is happy to arrange a private chef for a fee. You'll also have access to a small balcony ideal for enjoying morning espressos and sipping sundowners. Location-wise, shops and restaurants are a short walk away, as is the iconic St Peter's Square. Further afield, but still within easy reach, are the city's other famous landmarks, putting you in a prime spot for exploring. *All five bedrooms, as well as the living room, are equipped with air conditioning.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and children's books and toys on request.*Please note that one of the bedrooms is a triple, which is best suited to children or adults who don't...More Details

    Lion's Pride

When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. This location is fantastic – it’s just a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute saunter to the stunning Trevi Fountain, while a ran...More Details

Looking for a mid-century pad in the heart of Rome? This apartment should do nicely. It's set in Esquilino, where traditional trattorias are the norm and transport links make getting around the city a breeze. The living area is sleek and timeless, with well-stocked bookshelves and a compact kitchen ideal for whipping up something small to nibble on before dinner. Furry friends are welcome to tag along, too – what more could you need on an Eternal City getaway? *If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a travel cot on request.*The dining table doubles as a laptop-friendly workspace if you plan to work from home.*The kitchen is on the compact side. Roman Loft

We think this industrial-style loft makes for a memorable stay in the Eternal City. The decor mixes contemporary and character features – you'll find everything from exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings to a unique glass floor that overlooks the lounge. It's got plenty of space for everyone, and the extra touches like board games and snacks are much appreciated. Plus, the location is fantastic for exploring near and far. Both the Colosseum and the metro station are within walking distance. Shops and restaurants are easily reached on foot, too. *Although there's a lift in the building, the upper floor here is only accessible by stairs.*The top-floor bedroom has a glass floor that overlooks the living area.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide up to two free cots on request.*The dining table can be used as a desk if you plan to work from home.*Parking isn't provided, but a car isn't needed in Rome. Three Stags

While you can’t actually see the Vatican walls from Three Stags, turn right out of the door and walk about twenty metres and they’re right there. It’s a great location, which is fitting as it’s a great flat. Rather than seeking to preserve a crumbling old flat, Valeria’s recently redone the whole place, updating it without losing the character of the original place. There’s tonnes of space, given that it only has one bedroom, so having a couple of extra people sleeping in the living room is no problem (though three might be a squeeze). *Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. There's also an armchair that turns into a bed but three people in the living room would be too many*The kitchen is long and narrow – not great for socialising Air ConditioningBicyclesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherFree Parking On StreetFridgeHair DryerHangersIronKitchenKitchen UtensilsLaptop Friend...More Details

    Shutter Speed

This retro-chic apartment of offers a slightly different experience from many of our other homes in Rome. Rather than the bustle of the tourist centre, you’ll be in the leafy, twentieth-century streets of Monteverde Vecchio where traditional pasta restaurants and pubs serving artisan beer sit alongside weekly markets and antique shops. It’s a fitting locale for this historic apartment, as the host’s family have lived here since 1927, and some of the elegant furnishings, portraits, and other artworks decking the apartment’s walls go back further still. We love the antique camera that creates a memorable welcome, as well as the blue kitchen that provides the main sociable hub here. Gather together for breakfasts of fresh coffee and locally bought pastries at the table, or better yet, step put onto the private terrace for a sunny start to the day. This is also the ideal spot to treat yourself to a glass of Italian red before sampling the ...More Details

    Verdi's Aria

This villa is in the quiet village of Giustiniana, looking out over the Lazio countryside yet within walking distance of restaurants, shops and a train station. It’s just a ten-minute drive from the centre of Rome. The villa is surrounded by a vast garden on three sides, furnished with everything needed for dining, sunbathing and relaxation. The interior is on the traditional side and the bathrooms in particular feel a little dated. But the living area is big and bright, there’s loads of room. The close proximity to Rome while retaining a sense of peace and quiet more than makes up for the decor. *All of the bedrooms are upstairs, so this place may not suit those with limited mobility.*One of the bedrooms can be arranged as a twin room or a double, just let your host know what you prefer.*Your host welcomes pets here, just let them know in advance of your stay.*While smoking is permitted, your host asks you to be particularly careful i...More Details

    Aria of the Palms

Dating back to the early 1900s, you can see the turn-of-the-century architecture in the stone steps between terraces and wooden-shuttered windows. It’s a veritable playground for those that seek relaxation in the terraced gardens, where succulents fill the perfectly positioned flower beds. Spend days floating in the sleek, modern swimming pool with its integrated Jacuzzi. Lunch can be taken at the round table on the lower terrace, while dinner can be set up on the upper terrace at the more formal spot. Sun loungers are shaded by parasols and there are two hanging egg chairs for reading in the sun. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the sea with the Pontine islands floating in the deep blue.Inside, it’s an ode to grandeur as rooms are filled with gallery-worthy sculptures and striking paintings. Starry Eyes

Just a few steps away from the hive of activity that is the Campo de’ Fiori square and its market lies Starry Eyes, a spread-out apartment with ample space for large groups of friends and friends. Brightly lit, the tall windows overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Pantaleo let in plenty of light throughout the day and fill the space with fresh air. Step out onto the corner balcony as you sip your morning coffee and watch the world go by. We particularly love the antique dining table – be sure to share an Italian feast of dreams when it comes to mealtimes. Despite the home's central location, you'll find peace and quiet here, making it the perfect escape to return to after a day of pizza-fuelled sightseeing. Having said that, you won't have to venture far to discover the treasures of Rome – as you'll be stationed just 500 metres away from Piazza Navona and 600 metres away from the Pantheon. *You may experience a bit of no...More Details

    Antique Rainbow

When you’re staying in the centre of Rome, it’s pretty much impossible to wander without having to stop in awe to look at historic landmarks or beautiful architecture. And this is especially true of Spagna. As this apartment is only a six-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, eight from the Trevi Fountain, and the same distance to the Pantheon, you'll be left feeling overwhelmed in the most wonderful way.Just off the bustling Via del Corso, this home is set in a typically Roman building. Past the main entrance, an elegant courtyard welcomes you inside – as does your dedicated concierge. They’ll be on hand to help you arrange city tours, as well as airport transfers and most importantly, restaurant recommendations. But before heading off for fine dining, take a look inside the apartment.Stepping into the living space feels like entering a gallery. Colour Field

The bright, vibrant hues are the first things that strike you about this funky apartment. There’s a cohesion between the colourful design of the different rooms, yet at the same time, each maintains its own character. Through to the living room, where abstract artwork adorns the striking red wall and eclectic objects fill whitewashed bookshelves. While the statement art pieces and bright decor add interest, they're not the only things we love about this home. In fact, the light-filled kitchen with elegant ghost chairs is the perfect spot for starting the day with a continental breakfast. We also really like the marble floors throughout the apartment, and the granite kitchen backsplash – in fact, in most parts of the flat – the attention to detail is praiseworthy. Step outside of the building, to find yourself in the cultural heart of the world's most ancient city. Positioned between the Villa Medici and Trevi Fountain, whichever way you...More Details

    Roman Dream

This apartment in central Rome is full of surprises. You'll find it tucked away in a former 17th-century palace, but despite the bevvy of traditional features, the whole pad has a contemporary feel – we're talking neon signs, a crystal staircase, and all the modern comforts you'll need. Downstairs, a wellness area is ideal for relaxing, but the biggest gem of all is the private inner courtyard, perfect for alfresco aperitifs. We love the location, too. Via dei Coronari is a few steps away – famous for its antique shops – with many other landmarks reachable on foot, including Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain. *Pets weighing 8kg and under are allowed to join you here.*The seventh guest will sleep on a single sofa bed.*Please note that two of the bedrooms are located in the basement. Though its building dates back to 1949, this bright apartment’s interiors are dazzlingly modern. Wood floors, cool contemporary furnishings and plenty of statement lighting create a wonderfully chic ambience in the open-plan living space that gets plenty of natural light from its large windows. Whether you’re kicking back on the stylish sectional with a glass of Italian red or gathering around the dining table for a homemade feast, you’ll love socialising in this welcoming space. The bedrooms, meanwhile, are just as chic with each one boasting its own signature look. We love the main bedroom’s perfectly positioned armchair and its views of the Convento Ancelle Sacro Cuore, while the second bedroom’s four-poster bed and handy desk space are a treat for those needing to mix work with play. Factor in the gleaming bathrooms with their luxurious rainfall showers and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful city break. Outside of your hom...More Details

    Noon Herald

Location is where Noon Herald sets itself apart. It’s at the centre of a triangle that has the Vatican, Piazza Navona, and Trastevere as its points. The other big draw is the structure of the flat, with a double-height ceiling and the sloping beams – these help balance out the slightly spartan furniture elsewhere. It would be a good place for someone who is more used to hotels, as there are several services that are more commonly associated with them, such as daily bed turning and clean towels on request. *There's not much for entertainment beyond the TV.*The building has a quiet policy between 2pm and 4pm and between 11pm and 8am.*It's possible you might hear some noise from neighbours during your stay.*There are a few scuff marks on the walls.*It's on the third floor and you'll have to use the communal stairs (with no bannisters) as the lift is private.*There are more steps to climb to reach the mezzanine sleeping space, plus the cei...More Details

    Bellflower

Inside, Bellflower is large and comfortable, and while the design isn’t particularly avant-garde, the neutral colour scheme makes for a calming overall effect. The two balconies are also a nice touch, without being overwhelming. What does stand out, however, is the location. The Colosseum is at the end of the street (maybe 200m, at a stretch), yet because it’s on the less-frequented side, the streets are surprising free of tourists. *There are twelve steps to navigate before you reach the lift*The beds are very big, but it means that there isn't a tonne of free space in the bedrooms*Running all four showers at once might put some strain on the hot water*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room, if necessary Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsEspresso MachineExtra Pillows and Blan...More Details

    Meadowlark

Just off Via Veneto - the glamorous, but fading, heart of La Dolce Vita - Meadowlark has a welcoming structure with a few nice, unique touches, like the arched window frames. There’s also a small balcony, and while it can get a little noisy from the traffic below, it’s still a lovely spot for breakfast. As a whole, it needs a bit of love - the kitchen in particular, and a few of the carpets are a bit dusty - but there’s enough quality in all the fittings that we can look past that and appreciate Meadowlark for what it is. *The kitchen is big but it's not in the best shape - the water pressure is a bit weak and the stoves were a little tired*The smaller bathroom doesn't have any windows*There's a busy street outside so get ready for a bit of traffic noise during the day*Guests 5 and 6 will be on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBalconyBathrobesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking Essen...More Details

    Gladiator Reef

Gladiator Reef is not one that will appeal to people who are after neutral tones and understated design. There’s a mix of bright colours all over the place, and this gives the space a bit of individuality. The host, Mary, also pushes the boat out when it comes to service - there’s a daily cleaning service, as well as free laundry, great breakfast options, and recommendations of all the places tourists don’t know about. If that wasn’t enough, it’s also only a few hundred metres from the Colosseum. *When we visited, there was no lift and the apartment is on the fifth floor. There should be one installed by August*It's a really small space - there's no communal area apart from the kitchen and balcony*There's no washing machine in the apartment, though Qu can sort out laundry for you*Internet allowance is capped at 1GB a day Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral ...More Details
