Description: Cottage in Foxford
Briar Rose Cottage.
Briar Rose cottage is set blissfully on a quiet lane to Lough Conn in North Mayo.
It has been lovingly restored by the Traynor family, and at one time was home to a family with twelve children,The Kanes, a good Irish Family. Most emigrated, and as the local family died off, we purchased the ruin and were delighted to restore it as best we could.
It now warmly welcomes thoes who choose it as their holiday home, and provides cosy, interesting accomodation with a lovely tale to tell.
From its front walled cottage garden you enter through the half door, into a spacious living /dining area.
This has a high latted ceiling and traditional dresser and furnishings with a modern twist.
The large open fireplace when lit keeps your toes cosy and a warm glow to the room.
The galley style kitchen is compact and has all you need to cater for your gang.
The main bedroom is on ground floor level, is bright and spacious and has a wash hand basin, and plenty of storage space.
A twin attic bedroom is accessed by a narrow stairs, has two cosy beds and is delightful for children, a bit mysterious.
The other attis single bedroom is up a steep open plan stairs off the living area.It too is very cute, but perhaps not suitable for under 8's, or the elderly.
The shower room is downstairs.
The cottage is centrally heated and has access to a shared laundry room and storage shed with fridge and freezer for the fisherman.
The garden is well maintained with lawn and pebbled paths, and flower border. It has garden furniture and and a picnic bench.
A five minute walk takes you to Lough Conn, where there is free wild brown trout and pike fishing, and beautiful scenery. The Nephin mountains form a back drop to breathtaking sunsets.
