Lighthouse View is the name of our home and that's exactly what is seen from front door. We have a beautiful home in Shroove, Co Donegal with views of Scotland and Northern Ireland and scenery that is breathtaking. Set in the countryside with a beach within 2 mins walk it offers best of both worlds. Tranquility and adventure can both be experienced here. Colin and myself live here with no children. We are friendly and welcoming and well travelled ourselves. We will be at hand to help with anything guests may need to make their stay memorable. Our home is set in an idyllic, rural unspoilt part of Inishowen peninsula known as Shroove sometimes called Stroove on a map. Shroove is located on the east coast of the Inishowen peninsula. Shroove beach is lifeguard patrolled during the bathing season. It is a relatively small beach and is located close to the North Inishowen Natural Heritage Area. Beautiful local attractions such as Inishowen Head and Kinnagoe Bay are only 10 minute drive at most. Inishowen Head has a spectacular walk that follows a route through some of Donegal's most impressive coastal scenery and takes in a WWII Lookout Tower. Within a relatively short distance from the trail head the walker is in remote country with wonderful views (including Scotland on a fine day!). Kinnagoe Bay is a secluded beach in Inishowen, County Donegal, Ireland. It is known for being the location of the wreck of the Armada ship La Trinidad Valencera on 16th September 1588. From our balcony are amazing views of the whole of the north coast of Ireland, from Eglinton to Portstewart. The North coast can be reached by a Ferry service operates return crossings from Greencastle in Donegal to Magilligan point. The ferry service is in a little fishing port called Greencastle, (2km away from our home) with local pubs and restaurants in a beautiful unspoilt harbour setting , Thetc north coast takes in Benone beach, multiple recipient of the European Blue Flag and Seaside Award, and a must-see when visiting the area. It is seven miles of golden sand and a magnificent back drop of mountain and cliff scenery and stunning views across to Donegal. Downhill beach ls part of an 11km stretch of sand and surf offering a wealth of activities including water sports, scenic walks and facilities for that perfect family day out. Downhill is a Blue Flag Award Beach 2015. Cars are permitted on this beach throughout the year. The famous Messenden Temple is located in the beautiful surroundings of Downhill Demesne. Both the Temple and the surrounding views are among the most photographed scenes in Ireland. It is perched dramatically on a 120 ft cliff top, high above the Atlantic Ocean on the north-western coast of Northern Ireland, offering spectacular views westwards over Downhill Strand towards Magilligan Point and County Donegal. This leads to a 45min drive to what the Irish call the 8th wonder of the world "The Giants Causeway", the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland resulting from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago. The Carraig a Rede Rope Bridge suspended almost 100 ft (30 m) above sea level leads to the beautiful North Antrim coast. All this within a hours drive. We are 20 mins from Derry-Londonderry's famous walled city which has so much historical relevance in Northern Ireland. A walk around the walls reveals a splendid city crammed full of history, heritage, interest and a vibrant cultural scene. This is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled Cities in Europe. We have a luxurious double bedroom for guests and a luxurious family room ensuite sleeps up to 4 persons. Guests can have full use of working kitchen facilities and laundry facilities if required. We have a old Irish byre converted into a budget accommodation cottage which sleeps up to 6 people. We have managed to keep an old rural Ireland feel to this byre and also incorporated modern amenities to suit all tastes. This is self catering style with a television and pot bellied stove heating in an old Victorian fireplace. There is use of a full working kitchen to cook in at a time that suits your holiday agenda if you so require. Also shower facilities and laundry facilities available. A small breakfast is available. The ferry service is in a little village called Greencastle 2km away with local pubs and restaurants in a beautiful unspoilt harbour setting ,
