Kefalonia is home to some truly striking natural landscapes. While rugged cliffs and dramatic mountains create magnificent scenes, it also has a softer side with sandy beaches and pine forests. And somewhere in between the two, Melissani Cave offers a tranquil lake inside a rocky cavern which you simply cannot miss – which shouldn’t be too difficult, at just an eight-minute stroll from this apartment.

In the village of Karavomylos, this charming home also offers views of the Ionian Sea, ten metres from the water’s edge. If you can drag yourself away from these vistas by the glass sliding doors in the lounge, it’s worth taking a look at the elegant decor. Blushing tones of orange and muted reds create a welcoming and warm vibe, inviting you to sink into the plump sofa with a glass of fresh fruit juice in the morning. With wooden and woven elements peppered throughout, the home stays true to the natural splendour of the island.

As you step out to your leafy, private terrace for a bowl of olives before dinner, you can also look out to the residents’ pool below. Or an alternative would be to head to our favourite spot – the secluded, peach-coloured courtyard. Sip cocktails on the armchairs beneath the lush, green foliage surrounding this cute terrace.
