A Hillside Beginning
This traditional restored villa dating back to 1871 lies in the hills of Funchal and is waiting to bless you with stunning views of the sea and the city. Take advantage of the private pool and the surrounding gardens abundant with palm trees and lush vegetation, as you soak in the sun from the comfort of the sun loungers. Gather the family at the dining table in the open-plan living space, or head to the conservatory where you can dine by the open log fire and large French windows, perfect for winter evenings. You can also fire up the barbecue and dine under the sun – the perfect way to spend an afternoon. For those hoping to keep up productivity and get some remote work done during their stay, there's a dedicated desk in the main living area. Set your laptop up and enjoy the sunshine, then head out for some laps in the pool or work on that perfect holiday tan.
No car? No problem. You'll be within easy walking distance of a lovely bakery where you can pick up some freshly baked bread, plus a couple of restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine. If you're hoping for a city escape, head to the bus stop right outside your doorstep and hop on a bus to the centre of Funchal (alternatively a twenty-minute walk downhill), where you'll find no shortage of things to fill your days with, whether it be visiting the stunning Monte Palace or the Praia Formosa pebble beach.
