The apartment was comfortable and clean, fairly convenient to the subway. The office staff were friendly and as helpful as possible.
Unfortunately, the massive subway construction across the road was noisy and also apparently cut off our hot water for the last three days of our stay - nothing could be done to rectify this and no compensation was offered.
Also, the pool is not on site as advertised- the staff were very happy to walk us across to the health club where the pool is located (15 mins walk). However, when we arrived the common practice of spitting in the streets was also practiced in the pool gutter so we didn't feel comfortable swimming there.
Overall it was ok and the office staff did their best under the circumstances.

We are a family of 6 including of old folk & young kids. East apartment is clean daily & everything is in perfect order. My fussy teenager son loves the place. The area around the apartment is safe. Alexander is the person that help us a lot with places to eat & go. He even teach my kids Chinese character. We will come here to stay again next trip.

Enjoyed my stay at east apartments. It was a delightful alternative to staying in a hotel. The location was ideal and close to everything I required for business as well as socializing. My apartment was as described and was not in need of anything. The on site manager, I think his name is Sev was attentive and helped with everything I required. I will definatley plan on staying here again as I visit Beijing approx 2x a year.

Thank you everyone at East apartments for being so accommodating! We had a great stay in a comfortable, clean and well kept serviced apartment. Before we left for our trip I had heard many a story about the inconveniences and discomfort one can experience in China. This wasn't the case at all. The apartment was in a completely developed area with every amenity we could need (ie: April Gourmet, a ton of restaurants and a huge shopping mall). The apartment itself was spacious with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The staff was efficient and informative and was there for any questions we had. The only problem was an unpleasant smell that came from the bathrooms once a day around the same time. Since then we've learned it's due to the specific style of pluming China uses. Overall it was a treat and I would definitely recommend it.

The good: The apartments are well furnished and include basic needs as far as the kitchen goes. We ended up with 2 apartments for our group. Each 2 bedroom apartment came with enough utensils etc... for 4 people. Additionally, bath towels and 2 hand towels were provided. A/C units were present and working in the 3 living areas. There is a small front-loading washing machine, iron and hair dryer present; as well as drying hangers for clothes. TV was available, but all in Chinese.
The bad: When we first arrived, I spent an hour looking for the place before finally finding someone who would let me borrow their phone to call the manager. I had the address, but no one knew where it was. Once I got a hold of the manager, he sent a rep immediately to meet my party at the subway station exit. The person who let me borrow their phone was a manager in the gym located north of the subway exit, just west of the mall. Apparently, this is the same facility that the tenants of the apartment complex frequently use. Definitely frustrating that they did not even recognize the address or the apt complex name.
The apartment complex occupies probably 1 square kilometer immediately northwest of the subway exit (A). Once we were contacted by the rep, who did not speak English, we were directed with our luggage through the middle of the complex, through the maze of sidewalks, across busy streets (which can be dangerous with kids) for about 20-30 minutes before we reached our room. We had originally booked a 3 bedroom apartment, but through rough English and Mandarin, discovered that the 3 bedroom was not available, and we had been given 2 apartments in 2 neighboring buildings. Not what we expected but we made the best of it. In the end, the walk to the subway station was just under 1 km or 10-15mins from where we were staying.
Additionally, the apartments do not have phones. They do have wireless internet with which we used skype on our android phones and iphones to call between apartments. If you need to make a local call, you can also use skype or your own phone for a fee. I know the business offers phone rentals for visitors renting an apartment, which would have made it easier to contact our tour guide during our stay, or contact the manager if we needed to; but the night that we first arrived was when the phone was really needed, and I don't see how we would have even gotten that from a manager we had no way of contacting.
The area is pretty quite, but there is currently construction going on on the major road just south of the complex, running west to east. They are digging a subway line there and work through the night. On one particular night, they had a backhoe digging and smashing rocks all through the night. Made for a difficult night of sleep.
There is a small convenience store just north of our building (D55). It was only a 1 minute walk and was located within the complex gates. We were able to purchase things we needed at a decent price. There is also an Aussie-owned wine shop just outside of the gates.
The mall near the subway station entrance had KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and a nice bakery across from the McDonalds that we frequently visited for rolls, buns and yogurt for breakfast.

The location was great--middle-class quiet gated community and about a ten minute walk to the subway. The gardens are beautiful and the people living there are great--very family oriented. There are many local restaurants close by that were delicious and very inexpensive. There's also a great grocery store underground at the subway station with small slightly more expensive convenience stores closer by the condo. The condo was spacious for our family of six and the air conditioner was divine! I would highly recommend paying for the airport shuttle offered by East Apt because no one knows where this condo is (including the shuttle driver who needed to make several calls) as there are so many possible entrances. "East Apts" is just the name given to the business and not the complex itself so no one knows where it is. We were greeted at the gate where the driver dropped us off by a man who had the key to let us in but had limited to no English. He showed us to our room and closed the door and was gone. We really thought there would be some reception area or place where we could ask questions, or express concerns but there was not. We were pretty much on our own for everything. A few times when we really needed assistance we called the U.S. number listed on the website and they always answered in English. We never saw the recreation facilities talked about, there was a washer but no dryer (washer/dryer was advertised as being included) and it took three days before we got enough dishes to accommodate our family. All that being said, we would still recommend the facility because of its location; however, we would make sure people knew that they are no on-site services or people to talk to. If you are comfortable being in a place where you are pretty much on your own (the U.S. phone number is an option but costly, of course) then this is a great place; however, if you prefer to have the comforts of a concierge and on-site assistance then I would not recommend this rental.

East Appts is in a large security estate of hi-rise housing located close to Finance CBD with extensive enclosed gardens and some sporting facilities and small shops. There is a 24X7 small supermarket at the end of the street that has a really good wine selection.
Our apartment was spacious with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Kitchenette was small. Fittings etc were adequate and the furniture acceptable. The beds were comfortable. The appt was cleaned daily but you need to supervise this activity or it can be quite cursory. The manager, Sev, was very personable and quick to respond to any problems and provide advice. We stayed 5 weeks. The only issue we found was access because the side street to the main entrance was closed (has been for years apoparently) and taxis had difficulty finding the place.

Great for a family with young kids, as the dishes and laundry are done for you each day (along with cleaning). Very clean, and everything you need is provided- linens, dishes, towels, and a full kitchen. Great gardens to run around in just outside. Lots of convenience stores nearby and menus are even provided for ordering take-out (local and Western). It was a good location for getting taxis just a minute walk outside, but I would say not a great walk to the subway station with young kids in the summer heat (to the ShuangJing station)- probably 15 min walk with little kids. During our stay June '11 a new station looked like it was already under construction a good bit closer, though. By taxi we got to Tiannanmen and Wangfujing area within 15 minutes. The other downside was the pool wasn't really on-site and a good walk 15-20 min with kids, depending on where on the property you were staying- it's a huge complex. Also you only get one free visit to the pool included with your stay. But with all the things we were going to see there really wasn't much time for the pool anyway, and the gardens downstairs were a fun place to play. The on-site manager was very helpful and available to answer questions, and is American so it was no problem to ask questions in English.

Location was further away from centre then appeared on the map. The pool and activity centre is nowhere near the apartments but is a 20 minute walk so the idea of a morning swim was scraped. The housekeeper did not clean the kitchen very well and always left too few towels.

the appartments are not at city center, but located in a very good neighboorhood, 7 min from metro station with a good western 24 hour supermarket 2 min walk from the appartment.
the rooms are spaciuos and clean and well furnished, we were a party of six and it was never crouded. there is a maid who comes to clean every day and she also does the loundry which was a very helpfull service for such big party. the maid changes sheets and towels only if you ut them in the washing basket, and for sure did not clean the tub while we were there, but the rooms looked fine during our time of stay.
but the best thing about this appartment was the manager, sev. sev greeted us on our check -in even though it was at 2am, he was very helpfull and always available for questions and guidness throughout the day, which, in beijing is very helpfull to have an english and chineese speaking guy to help out.
we had a great stay and reccomand these appartments to everybody going to beijing, especially families who wish to eat sometimes at home, and have a specious place to come back to.

We rented a three bedroom apartment for our group of seven. The location was perfect, close to the subway station and with many restaurant and grocery stores nearby. The kitchen allowed us to eat in or out. We had room to spread out with the three bedrooms and the living room and kitchen areas.
Sev, originally from Maine, was so helpful with suggestions and easy to reach by email or phone. He dropped by to personally assist us several times during our stay. We felt much less isolated than we would have in a hotel, and we felt that we had a more authentic experience in China.
I would definitely stay here again, would not even consider staying in a hotel in Beijing -- especially with a larger size group.

I’ve stayed at East Apartments on three separate occasions in the past year. My wife and I love the location, the service, and quality of the accommodation. Conveniently located near the ShuangJing subway, the Fulicheng Gardens offer a peaceful, secure and kid-friendly environment, a great place for an evening stroll. It is close to a large, modern mall and a supermarket, and many dining options including Western chain restaurants; there is also a nice gym, with membership included in your apartment booking. Having constant access to service in English is another advantage of staying with East Apartments; we've gotten assistance for everything from making travel arrangements to booking martial arts classes. Finally, the apartments themselves are spacious, modern, and thoughtfully furnished. For the price of a hotel room, they offer a living room, kitchen, and washing machine. This additional space makes a big difference during long stays and allows us to entertain guests. We have really appreciated the comfort and freedom from worry that comes with staying at East Apartments; it's a great place to go back to after a long day in Beijing

In the beginning it was bit difficult to find out the place even for our cab driver. But finally when we reached there it was a really nice place to stay. The view through the big glass windows were stunning, you can spend hours just by looking through the glass windows. Highly recommended.
