This was an excellent little apartment for us. Supermarket so close, and easy walk to transport links. Well presented inside. Thanks Bruce for the detailed info ahead of our stay. Loved Tokyo and want to return!

This was an excellent value apartment in a great location just 5 minutes' walk from nearest station and 15 minutes walk from Shibuya. Communication and host helpfulness also exceptional. Beds comfortable, washing machine handy. Cons: building very tired/dirty in common areas/entry. Elevator doesn't work and clearly hadn't for a long time - so you will be carrying yourself and your things to L4. Bathroom requires careful use.

The place is great. Nearby to shinsen station and really cozy. My children love it. The only set back was the lift not working and the bathroom water flooded a bit when we took shower. Other than that, it was fabulous. Mr B also was very helpful. Pocket wifi provided also helped us a lot during our stay there.

We really enjoyed our time in the apartment. The area it is located has many nice restaurants and is just off the main drag into Shibuya, which is an easy 10 minute walk. Just get out of the apartment onto the street with the supermarket head towards shinsen station, keep walk past the station turn off to the main road (first set of lights) and turn left, walk down the road till you hit the crazy crossing, we found this easier to do than follow the map we were given.
I would stay that the apartment would suit the 2 bed set up rather than 3, we found it a bit cramped, but our youngest was too small to go in the top bed so we needed him on the floor. Its not a real problem as we were out most days. Also be aware that you are up 3 flights of stairs as the lift doesn't work, so if you have really small children it is worth noting.

Very god location, 10 mins walk to busy subway station assessible to all parts of Tokyo. Direct train from Narita airport.Owner gives very good info to appt from airport which is very useful for us who are first timer to such a big city where English is not that popular among the locals. place of stay is comfortable and clean, the small supermarket near us is handy to get groceries for our breakfast and sometimes dinner. Place is spacious for three of us as Japanese hotels are very small in area, place is cleaned and well equipped we enjoyed our stay there very much.

The apartment was as promised. It was kind of a tight fit for my husband and me and our two teenagers but we made it work. It had everything to make our stay as close to home as possible, it had a gas stove, microwave oven, toaster oven, cookware and dinnerware, fridge, laundry machine. It had no television but if you have your laptops or tablets, you won't get lonely because there's high speed internet courtesy of the mobile wi-fi that Bruce let us use. It is located in a quiet neighborhood which is very close to Shinsen station, two grocery stores, and lots of dining places. Even though the restaurants were jumping with activity well into the night, we hardly heard any noise in the apartment. Bruce's instructions on how to get to the apartment are very, very detailed and definitely super helpful.
If I were to say something negative, I'll start with the bathroom. The floor gets very wet after taking a shower so you need to dress in the room to prevent your clothes getting wet. There's no closet to hang your clothes in so you will have to improvise. Other than these, we enjoyed our stay. We were just glad to have a place to rest our weary feet and body after a day of exploring Tokyo.

Hi im from Malaysia. This place is very nice to stay with your baby. Perfect location cause the place is in Shibuya. You can walk to Shibuya station in 10-15 minutes walk. But there is a Shinsen station near the house like 5 minutes from the place. And the best part is the grocery store ( maruetsu petite) very near to this place like 1 minutes, you will be there already. I stayed here with my husband, baby and sister. This place is i think medium size apartment in japan. The place has everything that you need. Kitchen, plates, etc. you can cook there like you are in your own house. There also a balcony. You can have yoga outside there. And last but nit least, owner of the house, Bruce, he helped me a lot! Thank you so much bruce! Really appreciate it. I would like to recommend to all malaysian to stay here. Tak rugi pun duk sini sebab memang berbaloi! Worth your money! Hehe stay here please! Byeeeeeee

The apartment was great! Why stay in a hotel which could be anywhere in the world when you can stay in a clean apartment and live like a local. The u tube video from Bruce is fantastic for arrival and then everything required is within easy walking distance - supermarket, restaurants, coffee shops. We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teenagers and while the apartment is small - the space worked well for us. Totally recommend to others who wish to soak up the Tokyo atmosphere.

Excellent Location!!! very easy to find the studio apartment...especially with Mr. B's detailed directions. The room is clean and everything is in working order. Amenities galore, in the apartment as well as outside. Maruetsu (local supermarket) is only a stone throw away. So convenient. A few minutes walk to the main shopping street of Shibuya. with plentiful of food joints and 24hrs convenient stores everywhere. The mobile Wi-Fi is very useful when venturing out sightseeing in Tokyo. A quiet and safe neighbourhood.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously... Thank you Mr. B.

My wife and I stayed in Bruce's apartment for a week and we both enjoyed it. From the location to the ease of transportation it made our stay that much more enjoyable. Here is what we liked and disliked about the apartment;
- WIfi card/ portable internet ( we still managed to get lost sometimes, mostly our fault though)
- 5- 10 minute walk to Shibuya station/ 2 min walk to Shinsen station or the local train
- cute little grocery store that has about 80% of what you'll need for your stay. literally 20 seconds from the apt.
- Great restaurants right outside your doorstep
- 2 Bikes
- 8 minute walk to all the shops, Forever 21, H&M, Don Quixote, Tokyo hands, shibuya 109
- Apt seemed larger in pictures, but from what I see in Japan this is a pretty standard size for a studio apt, but it's Twice the size you will get compared to a Japanese style hotel
- Apt. building, although safe, looked a little on the battered end, room was nice enough though.
- grapefruit (personal info, lol)
- toilet same room as shower ( Japanese thing) so use bathroom before showering otherwise your clothes will get wet when you drop your pants. You'll see what I mean.

My friend and I stayed in Bruce's apartment for 3 weeks in august this year. I can honestly say that we can't wait to deal with him again for our trip next year.
As a host, we couldn't ask anything more from Bruce. Every piece of information we needed was given to us and we never felt hesitant to contact him if we needed help.
The space itself was perfect in location! 5minute walk to Shibuya station. 2 minute walk to the bustling streets full of restaurants, bars and shopping to suit all tastes. We felt very lucky with this apartment. Knowing that we were so central to the majority of Tokyo, we felt at ease when dealing with what can be such a confusing metro system.
I'm looking forward to dealing with Bruce's services in the future. Highly recommended!!

We discovered a very pleasant little apartment in a quiet street with lots of small shops and local restaurants (we recommend the restaurant Unagi in front of the apartment). It is very well located just minutes from the metro. Bruce, the owner is friendly and efficient ... Everything went very well during the rental. The apartment is clean and properly equipped for two people. Also thank you to Bruce for the mobile internet which is very convenient in Tokyo.

While I could write a review that is several pages long, I will give you only what you need. First off, the owner, Bruce, is a Canadian who responds promptly to e-mail and is very attentive. The apartment's location is perfect for those who want to stay in a local neighborhood that is in one the best parts of Tokyo. The apartment is furnished with two double beds and a small kitchen, and is just a five minute walk to the famous Shibuya Crossing. There is easy access to the subway via a 3 minute walk, which will connect you to the JR line, and there is a fabulous street of wonderful restaurants that is just outside the apartment. As a HUGE bonus, you get a portable wi-fi hotspot to take with you as you explore Tokyo. My friend and I traveled through 8 different countries in 35 days, staying at 20 different hotels, guesthouses, and apartments, and we both would list this accommodation at the top of our lists for the cultural immersion that it provides. You simply won't find a better area of Tokyo to stay in, and if you are looking to live like a local, then this is the place for you.

The location is fantastic, only a 10 min walk from Shibuya station.
Bruce was very helpful too, checking in during our stay.
We got there via limo bus then taxi from the airport which was fine and on our way to our next destination we walked to the station with our luggage.
All of the information and advice Bruce provided was invaluable.
It was great having a stove and washing machine.
Finally the wifi was excellent.

Bruce was the best. We had a hectic evening and were very tired and confused by the time we got to Shibuya station. He talked us through it on the phone and we were able to make it to Shinsen Station to meet him. He helped us with our luggage and explained everything quickly and thoroughly so we could get some rest. The place was perfect for our little family (2 adults and 2 children). It was minutes from food, groceries and transportation. If we ever make it back to Japan, I will definitely rent with Bruce again.

Bruce is top-notch! Great meeting him in person after precise follow-up via email. He was very helpful and available in making sure that we got there safely from the airport. Will definitely work with him when we stay in Tokyo next time.
The Shibuya apartment was fantastic. It is down a street FULL of great restaurants and 2 minutes away from a 24 hours supermarket.
5 minutes from Shibuya station. Super close to Shibuya City which was full of great restaurants and a lot of life
The apartment was very tidy and clean and included all we needed to live the Tokyo life! The WiFi Card saved our butts with the GPS/internet and the laundry machines were a really nice touch. Something we would not have in a hotel.
Thank you, Bruce. You are the best. Will be back.

I'll start by mentioning that we stayed in 3 different places during our stay in Tokyo..1st was this place, next was the Hotel Sunroute, and last The Hyatt Regency. One for quirkiness, another for middle of the road comfort and finally one for ultimate luxury, yet by far Bruce's place was our favorite. From the convenience of strolling around a neighborhood that has the coziness of regular earthy Japan, to the ultra stylish boutiques echoing of a Greenwich Village in a less hipster more literary-cool era, Meguro, and Bruce's little apartment, had us sold! Seriously, easy access to everywhere. Counter to common beliefs wifi was a problem at both hotels - but for Bruce's he provided a pocket wifi that proved invaluable, as we went far off the beaten path from thrift stores, punk rock shows, art boutiques, to beautiful shrines. We had Tokyo wired our first 4 days mainly because of choosing Bruce's place first. He was awesome, responsive, clear, and laid back quirky (Like Del Toro's character in Basquiat). The apartment is small but cozy with all the amenities we needed, very small bathroom- with a family mart next door or an upscale 7/11 20 yards the other way, open all night. A takeout sushi mart 10secs further along across from the best noodle/dumpling/all night, cozy counter/restaurant we've been to it's called "Chinese oodle estaurant" ( we've been to many from Cambodia to Taiwan to Bali, of which we are writing from right now). There is an Italian trattoria next door as well. If you make it off this street and north, try Golden Brown (the Stranglers, right!) a uniquely smart and artful beer and burger cafe , and next door to alaska for vegan treats and coffee and design savvy intuitive owners yet still not hipster more accessible and deep house, also a 10min stroll to Binx Mexican, awesome! We will be staying at at one of Bruce's bigger places or even this one in the future. Highly recommended, if you get, you get it, if you don't you don't!? Carrillo's

This is a no nonsence, value for money, well used, but cared for, Tokyo appartment that many Tokyoites live in all their lives. It has a little balcony overlooking a quiet street with a washing machine, patio chairs and cloths line that apppears to be fairly standard for Japan city dwellings. Great neighborhood and located close to plenty of ...everything !. This was a perfect base for my wife and I to explore Tokyo. Yes, the place is older and nothing fancy, but it was clean and fully operational (including the highly desirable AC unit). Bruce was there to greet us and give us an orientation and made sure we settled in ok . Bruce is a delightful, high energy, super nice chap and we certainly felt he was genuinely interested in our needs being satisfied.

My husband and our 8 years old son just returned from a weeklong visit to Japan and stayed in this quaint studio apartment. Located just a quick 10 minute walk to Shibuya station it was the perfect home base for our adventures around Tokyo and is a short ride to the Shinkansen station in Shinagawa where we took the train for a day trip to Kyoto. Bruce has created a warm and inviting space in the middle of it all that is close to many restaurants (Blue Cafe is great for breakfast). Visiting from Seattle we were pleased to also find a wine bar (Soyokaze) just a 50m walk as you exit the building to the left which specializes in Oregon Wines (we hope to convince the owner Keiji to expand to include Washington wines as well :)

We stayed for five nights in this apartment and had a wonderful time. The owner, Bruce, was able to meet us early and show us around. The space is small, but very cute and neatly organized. Everything just worked. We were able to prepare meals, wash clothes and the wi-fi was a lifesaver. The bed was comfy and the apartment was well stocked with towels and linen. But best of all is the location, on a street lined with bars, shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk from Shibuya. You won't run out of things to do, that's for sure!

Fantastic experience here. The place is small - one room with kitchen and dining area - and not for families with multiple kids or kids who expect privacy, but families with one (or perhaps even two) small children - not to mention couples or solo travelers - would find this ideal and great bang for the buck. We were perfectly comfortable with our five year-old. The place is well-appointed, comfortable, super-clean and recently renovated, with a balcony and an amazing location about five minutes' walk from all the action in Shibuya and the Shibuya Metro, great restaurants and grocery stores virtually around the corner. Awesome owner who is a great communicator and attentive host. Some persnickety travelers might be a little turned-off initially by the older building, but we didn't care one bit with the location, value, and all of the other benefits. Great experience and we will be back if ever in Tokyo again. Thanks Bruce!

We stayed in this appartment for 9 days. It's very small but has just everything you need. Space to store luggage, a very well equipped kitchen, big comfortable bed, Wi-Fi, AC, balcony, washing possibilities and lots of other neccessities that made us feel at home.
Having bicycles turned out to be an unexpected bonus to our sightseeing possibilities.
And the location is amazing! Just down the street are lots of restaurants and a 24/7 supermarket. A few minutes walk to Shibuya station.
Only a few drawbacks that could easily be fixed made the stay "almost perfect".
* A few more shelves or hangers to put clothes and stuff would be a big plus. Even with just two people the space gets messy easily.
* Water drains very slowly in the bathroom...
I would definitely recommend this place to a couple. For more people it might be too crowdy if you're planning at spending some time inside and not just sleep.

Bruce prepared us a vacation home with more than just basic needs.Though a bit worn from the building exterior, the apartment itself has been nicely redone. Small but unbelievably clean, the apartment has an open kitchen loaded with cookware and tableware ready for a feast any time. One master bed in decent size with another mattress being able to slide out for up to four guests, we found it cozy to have good night sleep. Insulation of the house might not perform against the early March chill in Tokyo, a heater and heating blankets did work for us except taking a bit time to warm up. Location is superb for exploring the city. Located in a quaint alley, surrounded by charming small shops, the apartment is only a few minute walk from a subway station. Busy street leading to Shibuya station is just close by. We had great time from this trip and wouldn't do without a lodging location like this. I am more than glad to recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a satisfying budget staying.

This studio was perfect for our stay in Tokyo and since it was for a full month in late July and August we needed somewhere central, comfortable and air conditioned! We are happy to say that we had all three in abundance.
Bruce was really, really helpful at all times; the apartment had everything we required for a month's stay. Highlights include the apartment's proximity to an amazing range of bars, restaurants, transport links and shops. Shibuya really is a city in it's own right and this apartment is a great find for any explorers. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Landlord met us at the train station and walked us to the apartment. He was pleasant and helpful. The apartment is very small but adequate for most peoples needs. However as we were there in late January we found it very cold. The air-con style heating barely gave out any heat and in one bedroom there were big holes in the wall/floor around a pipe that didn't help to keep the heat in. There was only a very small two seater couch to sit on and as there were four of us and we were cold we tended to sit on the beds, under the blankets to keep warm anyway.
Anyone perhaps used to back-packing or camping might be fine with this apartment but personally I would not stay there again.

I stayed here in July 2011 with my girlfriend and it was great! The location is perfect... just a short walk from the Shibuya station but tucked away on a quiet street. There is a 24 hour grocery a block away, and the streets surrounding the apartment are filled with great bars and restaurants that are popular among Tokyoites and affordable.
The apartment itself is very attractive and comfortable, with air conditioning, a balcony, kitchen, and shower. It's a little small, as you'd expect from Tokyo, so I wouldn't plan on any heavy duty cooking, but for throwing together a quick breakfast/coffee/tea or just keeping some snacks on hand it works well. The bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of room for luggage. Sound insulation was very good, too. I'm 5'11" and hit my head on doorways a few times... it wasn't a big deal but if you're very tall it could be a problem.
Bruce is super friendly and made sure we were comfortable, well-acquainted with the neighborhood, and had everything we needed. He also was very helpful giving directions on how to get to the apartment (I arrived late at night to Haneda airport) and made sure we got checked in okay.
I'd definitely stay again next time!

My husband and I stayed in Tokyo in February for about a week. The location was great, right in the heart of trendy Shibuya. The apartment was small for American standards but was much larger that what we had expected for an apartment in Tokyo. I was pleasantly surprised. I had read other reviews and made not that the apartment exterior looked a little shady, but the apartment interior looked great. It was a small studio with modern decor, full kitchen, and western toilet. Bruce, the owner, was great! The only issue we had was trying to meet up the day we arrived (Friday around 1pm) and had missed each other because he had to go back to work. I'm sure he has since remedied the issue by installing a home rental lock box for renters to pick up the apartment key when he is unable to meet in person. He was very helpful though. I would have loved to be able to use the bikes during our stay, but it was rather cold during the time we were there. In any case, I'd highly recommend this vacation rental for anyone who is planning on traveling to Tokyo.

A cute apartment in a really great, quiet location. Easily walk/ride to Shibuya, Harajuku, Daikanyama, Naka Meguro, Ebisu, and a couple of stops from the bohemian Shimokitazawa.
There was good storage, a highly appreciated coffee machine (and a coffee bean shop about 1 min walk away), Wifi and a comfy bed.
The only negatives were the bathroom (the plunger next to the sink hole is not a good sign), but I understand that it is about to be renovated and the fairly shabby exterior of the apartment.
Due to travelling with a baby we didn't make use of the bikes, but it would have been great to ride all around the neighbouring suburbs.

This apartment is a great find. The central location lays the city at your feet, and the immediate area is lively and fun, full of bars and restaurants as well as a 24-hour grocery. The apartment itself is simple and spare, but impeccably clean and convenient, with kitchen facilities and laundry, as well as a real mattress and western-style toilet and shower. The location of this property was absolutely great! Just a few minutes walk to the Keio line or less than 10 minutes walk to Shibuya Station. Just around the corner is a wonderful grocery store with everything one would need, even food for the fussiest Westerner! If you don't want to cook, there are rows and rows of fabulous resturants to choose from including a great pizza place. There are 2 brand new bikes that were provided which we took advantage of to bike to Yoyogi Park and all over the surrounding areas! What a bonus! There's also a balcony which we used for breakfast every morning! The exterior of the building wasn't the best looking but the inside of the unit is very nice and comfortable! I would definately recommend this property to friends and family and will be staying here for my next visit to Japan! Thanks Bruce!

This place is just great. About a 10 minute walk from Shibuya station, or under 5 minutes from Shinsen station. Bruce met us at Shinsen and walked us over -- he was very helpful, easy to get in touch with by email or phone (both before arrival and during our stay). No problems at all with the apartment -- looks like furnishings are basically all new. Only questions we had for him while in Tokyo were Tokyo sightseeing questions. Apartment had plenty of space for the two of us (there's a fold out so you can sleep up to 4) and a nice balcony too. Very highly recommended. Location is pretty much unbeatable.

I stayed here for one night in June 2010 for an overnight in Tokyo. It's perfect for a short or long stay and is just a 5-10 minute walk to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment in Shibuya. I arrived from Shibuya station but it is even closer to Shinsen station (maybe about 3 minutes). A grocery called Pororoca is conveniently located about 20 yards up the street and just a bit further you'll find a cute looking restaurant/bar called Pizzeria. I didn't stay long enough to try out these two places, but I definitely would have dropped into both if my stay had been longer.
The apartment is located in an older building. I was a bit concerned as I was walking up to the room that maybe I had made a bad choice, but the room itself is quite charming. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to cook at home - rice cooker, coffee maker microwave, pans, plates, utensils, etc. The bathroom is very Japanese. It's one big tiled floor room with both a shower and a toilet (no tub). Toiletries (soap, shampoo, and rinse) were all provided as were towels (just like a hotel). The double bed was quite comfortable. Firm and soft at the same time and I think maybe even more comfortable than my bed at home! I didn't use it, but I was told there is another foldout bed stored in the closet if needed. The room is small by Western standards, but plenty big enough for two people or even more if you're a family on a budget.
Outside the bedroom, there is a balcony which is where the washing machine is located. There is no dryer, but there's a bar for hanging your things to dry. (Again, so Japanese!)
To sum it all up... This is a great value for the money and you'd be hard-pressed find anything comparable in this area. The apartment has everything you need for a short or long trip and will quickly start to feel like home.

We stayed here for a week in October. The unit is in a great location. Only a short walk to Shibuya Station, and an even shorter walk to Shinsen Station. There is a well stocked supermarket just down the street plus restaurants and cafes close by.
The apartment block looks a bit run down from the outside, and you may have to walk up 4 flights of stairs if the lift isn't working, but once inside the unit it is fine. There is a small balcony which is ideal for hanging out washing. As with all Japanese units it is small and if you had to use all the beds it would be a bit squashy. The place is Ideal for 2 adults.
The host Mr B was really helpful and very prompt in his responses. If we ever return to Tokyo we would try and book this again as we liked the location so much.
