What a perfect house for the vacation we had. Maria, Siti and Tupo were awesome......had papaya, niu(coconut) every day. Tupo was kind enough to make us some traditional food one day......luau, baked taro, breadfruit, etc. Memories of our holiday will be in our hearts forever. Thank you very much Maria and Tim for the hospitality and kindness you shown to us. We will never forget it. Alofa atu. Randy, Carmen, Paige, Stephen and Peyton....oh! almost forgot untie Pepe. Ps. See you in Penticton.

We had a party of six, our cousins stayed in January and loved it. We stayed in Feb. They were so accomodating, great hospitality. Maria and Tim went the extra mile. The Fale was so beautiful, each room was special. It was great to have all the cooking supplies the fresh fruit everyday was great. Very close to all the tourist destinations, we are planning our next stay in 2018. It was a tropical paradise.

We stayed here for four nights with young children (6 and 8) in July. As an alternative to a hotel in Apia, we would highly recommend it. it's an easy 15 minute drive from Apia in a quiet, tranquil location. Made a great base for exploring the island. When we got home from a day exploring, it was a very peaceful place to relax, no fuss. The house itself is beautiful, with high, exposed wood ceilings, based on traditional architecture. You definitely need a high clearance or 4WD car to get to it.

Our stay here was really a HOME away from HOME. We rented out boh the fale and main house and we were all more than impressed with our stay here. Maria and Tim are so friendly and their holiday home represent who they are as people, warm, friendly, hospitible and lovely. It really is a slice of paradise the homes and we can't wait to plan anoher trip, as we would definitely use here as one of our homes away from home. Great for big families and very children friendly. Staff here are incredible as well, Ioane one of our favourite people we met on our trip.

This is our third time coming back to Samoa and staying at Samoan Highland Hideaway retreat. The view from the balcony is very special. The flowers and native plants, all well trimmed and kept. The plantation offers all the seasonal fruit. An experience of participating in Umu (native Samoan way of cooking food on the fire) was the gem of each of our trips. The fale is just stunning. Beautiful, high sealing, exquisitely decorated in traditional craft style and yet with all the comforts you could wish for. Due to the design of traditional Samoan fale it is never hot in it, even on the hottest day. Because the property is situated in the middle of the island it allows exploring every corner of Upolu. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the island and its culture. It was great to go on discovery tours with Tim. We have got to visit beautiful beaches, hidden lakes, stunning waterfalls and swimming holes. We would definitely recommend Samoan Highland Retreat and hope to be back again soon.

The title of this review, doesn't even begin to cover what this accommodation has to offer. The clever and appealing way that this property has been built is the best. It allows for the perfect combo of fruit and veg being locally grown (like in the front yard) and, native habitat for wildlife!! Amazing! The completely stunning garden, also functions partially as a yard plantation, is full of birds, lizards, pollinators, fruit bats, insects and sometimes the wonderful staff and/or owners. It takes a lot of hard work to make grounds such as these and, the Fa'le really was just the icing on the cake. It's very private if you like or, could be shared with a big family! Note: Give the Auntie the room downstairs for easier access to the loo. Because the house is farther up the hill than many other Resorts, it is tolerable even for us weak, Oregon Coast residents - no Aircon necessary. The full kitchen is great, even if you are just heating up leftover street food. We saved a ton of money not having to pay high prices for food : ) Check out my entry in the guest book for advice on which flowering shrubs and, section of the grounds to look at for some exiting wildlife sightings! Loved it and hope you do too. Abigail and Greg

Tim met us on arrival with a huge basket of fruit and veges that tasted superb. He gave us a tour and my goodness, the house structure was amazing! A cool loft situated upstairs with 3 single beds, a main bedroom and ensuite in the main area, indoor outdoor flow with a surrounding deck, outside toilet for entertaining, downstairs had a bathroom and toilet with two outside bedrooms. Both bedrooms had a cool breeze, one with double bed and one with two singles. We had 7 people and for two nights didn’t use one room. The build of the house made it nice and cool. Tim was quick to respond and very helpful. The beautiful staff onsite were up early cleaning and super friendly. Dogs and cats live on the plantation and to my surprise we’re very friendly and easy going. Never any trouble! Tim suggested taking sharp knives as you could imagine an island does not always have what you need but we managed quite well without them. There is no tv but that was a blessing as we really enjoyed each other’s company and time spent there. Maybe take an iPad for a night movie. Tim and Maria had lots of books and brochures to read through. Spend some time admiring the gardens as they are stunning. The views, birds and land was definitely one of a kind. I would suggest hiring a van or 4WD as the roads have many potholes which is a given if you have stayed on an island before. Only 20 mins from Apia City and approximately 40 from the airport. Perfect location from everything though and would recommend staying here as you are central to everything. Waterfalls, trenches and sliding rock are minutes away. Loved everything about this place!
