We are a family of four and had a fantastic stay at this apartment. It is very spacious and airy and spotlessly clean, it had everything we needed and was well heated for the colder weather we had during our stay.
It is perfectly placed and we were able to walk to all the sights of this great city.
The owners, Janos and Jozsef, were charming and gave us a very warm welcome and great local advice about where to go, when to go and what to eat, that all turned out to be helpful. They clearly love their home city and impart that enthusiasm on their guests!
If you're looking for a characterful apartment in a great location then look no further.

Thank you to Janos and Jozsef for making our stay absolutely lovely. My husband, daughter, and I stayed for one week in their comfortable, updated, well-located apartment for Christmas. Janos was professional and prompt with email communication before our trip. He also arranged for our airport pickup with his driver, which was smooth and affordable.
The apartment is decorated beautifully. Very functional kitchen and baths. Super fast wifi. Location is terrific--walking distance to all the sights, great restaurants and bars, and a small market for staples just steps away.
Janos and Jozsef were exceedingly gracious, offering tips on things to do and see, accessible by phone or email throughout our stay, even dropping off Christmas treats baked by Janos's grandmother. Jozsef's homemade fruit preserves were delicious too. But they were never intrusive and respected our family time together.
When we return to Budapest, we will not hesitate to contact Janos and Jozsef to stay in one of their properties again. Affordable, stylish, comfortable....with fantastic hosts!

This review is long overview, as I stayed there more than 12 months ago. But it as a great place to stay so I thought it was worth saying a few words about it anyway.
Our host Janos was very helpful, meeting us at the apartment though he also offered pick up from the airport for a small fee.
The apartment was lovely and modern. There were three of us, all friends, staying there. Two of us had our own bedroom, the third stayed on the sofa bed in the lounge room although the layout was such that he could block himself off from the rest of the apartment for peace and quiet with ease.
The apartment was clean, well maintained with modern fittings, but in a older style block in the lively Jewish quarter. It really was a great location, also near the Opera house and train line.

Thoroughly recommend this apartment. Janos and Josef were gracious and friendly hosts who made us very welcome, taking time to tell us how to get around Budapest, where to eat etc
The apartment itself is on the second floor of a 100 year old tenement style building in the old Jewish quarter. It has been sympathetically and sensitively renovated, keeping original features (such as the doors) while the bathrooms and kitchen very modern. The effect is one of light and space.
We have stayed in many holiday self catering houses and apartments, and there is often the odd problem. Not here - Janos and Josef take so much care and are determined that guests should be comfortable and enjoy their stay from the moment of arrival until departure.
I can't praise it enough

This was the second time that I, my girlfriend and my brother and his partner had the pleasure of staying at Jozsef and Janos's apartment. The first time was last September and we loved the apartment so much we didn't hesitate to stay again when coming back to Budapest.
Everything about our stay was made perfect by Janos and Jozsef, from Janos arranging a taxi to pick us up from the airport and take us direct to the apartment, to taking the time on our arrival to provide maps and information about the best places to see, eat and drink in the city. This was essential inside knowledge of the city and invaluable in helping us enjoy this amazing city to the full. The guys even booked us a table at one of the best authentic Hungarian restaurants in the city and recommended the best dish!
The apartment itself is right in the heart of the old Jewish quarter on the doorstep of the city's liveliest bars and restaurants. The stunning opera house is two minutes walk away, as is the nearest underground stop which will take you to the main thoroughfares and shopping area in minutes. However, it is barely five minutes walk and no more than ten minutes from Chain Bridge and the riverside.
Inside the apartment is beautifully appointed. A blend of contemporary and modern with high ceilings, huge bright rooms and plenty of space to eat and relax. There are two large double bedrooms, one with en suite and the other with a bathroom just off the dinning area. There is also a small balcony which is bathed in evening sunshine, great for enjoying a beer before heading out for the evening. Janos and Jozsef also have a selection of home made jams and chutneys which you can buy and the kitchen is modern and excellent for preparing food if you wish to eat in for a change. There is also a good sized Spar shop a minute's walk from the apartment, where you can buy any food or other essentials that you need including beer and wine!
I honestly could go on and on there are so many positives about this apartment and already we are planning our third trip to Budapest and will most definitely be staying here again.

The apartment is extremely clean and well cared for. Janos and Jozsef are gracious and accommodating hosts. The location could not be better: 150 meters to the State Opera and Metro stop; 250 meters to the Liszt Academy; and less than 1 kilometer to the center of Pest. Do not let any photos of the neighborhood dissuade you -- while there are a few boarded up buildings (many of which are in the process of being restored), this area is quite lively and very safe. One of the best apartments we have stayed at in any city.

This apartment is in a great location, close to the Metro, buses, supermarkets, sites, nightlife, restaurants, and major streets. As soon as you open the door, you are amazed at the apartment itself. Lots of light, large windows, impeccable cleanliness, large bathroom and kitchen for European standards, tastefully updated, and comfortable beds in an enormouse master bedroom, and lovely secondary bedroom with en suite bathroom.
Janos and Jozsef met us and gracefully gave us a wealth of information of the area, places to go, what to do, and had prepared lots of useful tourist guides.
We traveled with our sons and they thoroughly enjoyed all the comforts and amenities of the apartment as well. The kitchen is well supplied with the bare necessities, and the supermarket is half a block away. Street Parking is free from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Otherwise, you do have to pay for the allotted time you choose.
Thank you, Janos & Jozsef, for a great time . We will be back!

Booked this apartment to celebrate my sister in laws 60th birthday , communcation with Janos was excellent , the driver was at the airport to meet us as arranged and we have to say the apartment did not disappoint . It had been improved to a very high standard and the whole apartment was very very clean . There was everything you needed in the kitchen although it is fair to say we did not do any cooking during our stay. Janos & Josef met us at the apartment and were very very helpful , recommending best places to visit & eat. The apartment was well situated I would say a 15 min stroll to chain bridge all main sites were within walking distance but there was also the metro if needed. All in all a very enjoyable visit to a beautiful city

A big thank you to the charming Janos and Jozsef who made our stay in Budapest even more enjoyable. They arranged our airport collection and met us at the apartment armed with great information which made everything so much easier for us. The suggestions they made for dining out were perfect for us as we like local food in local surroundings rather than touristy hot spots. They also told us about the quirks in the apartment so we were clear what was where and how things worked. They have high standards re what they ask from their guests and this is reciprocated by clean and well maintained accommodation.
We had three nights in this airy, light and superbly located apartment with the attention to detail making it way above average. It is quiet, but right in the heart of the Jewish Quarter and we found most things accessible on foot from here. It is also near the metro to get over to the Buda side.
The beds are comfy, the bathrooms are well designed and the spacious feel of the rooms made for a very pleasant stay. We loved the run down feel of the outer building knowing the inside was so lovely. Care and detail make a big difference and this was very evident in all aspects of the stay. They care, which is quite rare these days in my experience. We were travelling as a couple with my husbands mother and the apartment gave us privacy and togetherness in equal measure. She loved it and said that the guys had made her holiday extra special with their perfect manners and humour.
The overall feel is very traditional, Simply furnished but with style. We would definitely book here again if we return and we had a very enjoyable trip.

We were met at the apartment by the Janos and Jozsef, who had organised a pick up from the airport for us -the fact that worked so well got us off to a perfect start. Janos and Jozsef were so welcoming and so enthusiastic about the apartment and about Budapest itself: they obviously take a great pride in both those things and are keen to share that. They gave us a short informative tour of the apartment's features and outlined the very reasonable expectations of our behaviour while we were in the apartment -obviously having clocked us as shameless hedonists!! The apartment is very 'classy' without being overstated or in your face - there are lots of nice homely touches. It was spotlessly clean -everything worked; it was well-equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was well-equipped. The sitting room was very homely and a good space in which to relax. Beds were very comfortable!
The apartment itself is in a brilliant location -easily walkable to all the major sights. There is a reasonable supermarket near by and a lovely bakery! Just down the road is a bar that is very welcoming. Janos and Jozsef had prepared a great deal of information about their city, comprising places to visit and bars and restaurants. They were prepared to spend time talking to us about it and making further recommendations based on our comments: advice which proved invaluable in that it allowed an even more rewarding experience based upon their local knowledge rather than the brief(but helpful!) information in the 'Lonely Planet' guide. The restaurants they recommended proved to be winners each evening (though we did go 'off-piste' and visited Klassz -a fabulous place within a five minute walk) and their advice about things like service charges was something not mentioned in any guide. Their recommendation about the New York Cafe gave us all a memorable experience. Food -for a capital city -is very reasonably priced and of very high quality. Hungarian wine is gorgeous! 'UNICUM' should be approached with caution!
Janos and Jozsef are rightly proud of their city. We came away wishing we could have been there a lot longer. We managed to fit in a lot -most of the recommended sights -the Parliament was great with the 'shoe sculptures' providing a sombre foil to the magnificence of the building; Castle Hill and Fisherman's Bastion was well worth the walk across the Chain Bridge and a beer sipped sitting outside, taking advantage of the Bastion's views was, although the most expensive we'd had, an experience that will live long in the memory. The trip to the Synagogue was fascinating - the House of Terror (again all within easy walking distance) a somewhat sobering, even macabre, history lesson.
Our trip to the Szechenyi Baths was another highlight -again, Janos and Jozsef's advice here proved invaluable. Lounging in an open air pool, in November, as the sun set is an experience we'll never forget!
The weather helped! Something that can't be planned for, I know -but we woke each day to brilliant sunshine. It had been an exceptionally warm early to mid- November and this allowed us to comfortably walk everywhere.
We are planning, already, to return - to revisit certain places, but to see those places that we didn't get to. And maybe even go on one of Janos's cycle tours: now that would be something...

We’ve given it five stars, but note the warning below.
This is perfect location for exploring Budapest, situated just a few steps from Andrassy Utca and the Opera House, with easy access to the metro and the rest of the easy-to-use Budapest transport system. However, we hardly used any transport other than walking, and found Budapest an excellent city to explore on foot. There are excellent restaurants, bars and shops within easy range of the apartment.
Janos and Jozsef are amongst the most attentive hosts that we have experienced. They are quick to reply by email, and arranged our taxi transfer, met us on the doorstep and then offered us a personal introduction to the apartment and the city of Budapest. They have plenty of local knowledge, and suggested an excellent itinerary for a visit into the Buda Hills, using the cog railway and returning by cable car.
The apartment itself is contained within an atmospheric old apartment block, and is spacious, very well equipped and appointed. It’s light, airy and comfortable. It is kept scrupulously clean. However, here’s the warning – the building work opposite, that some other reviewers have mentioned, is going to disturb whoever is in the front room, and it started early on the Saturday morning when we were there. If you book for two, then no problem – sleep in the back room. If there’s four of you then put the heavy sleepers in the front room, or be prepared to swap if you’re there for more than a few days.

The apartment itself is fabulous, it's in an old building (and yes the common parts are a bit delapidated) but the flat itself has been renovated with great care, so has all of the mod cons you would expect whilst retaining loads of original features. It really is fabulous, no complaints, everything worked, the wifi is fast and reliable, and Janos was an excellent host.
The location is perfect, quiet street but close to everything, supermarket at the end of the street, great transport links, but Budapest is very walkable.
As others have mentioned, there is a building site opposite and they start at 7am. This is absolutely not an issue if you sleep in the back room, but is maybe a problem if you sleep in the front, depending whether or not you are an early riser anyway.
We'd happily stay again, thanks Janos!

A well located apartment with lots of space. 2 good sized bedrooms with the option of using a sofa bed too. We were 3 men sharing the place and it would be ideal for families and small groups.
Our hosts were very helpful too, especially as this was my first experience of a holiday rental.
The one downside was the building work going on across the street, but hopefully that is temporary.

We vere there in the end of july 6days,and that apartment was even better than we thought before. Its in very easy place to reach by metro about 150meters to nearest station, there is very near lot of restaurants and bars. Very nice bar in the downstairs next door to apartments gate. Lots of all kinds of shops in walking distance from house, nearest supermarket 50meters from door. Owners Janos and Joszef were waiting us when arrived and show us everything what we need to know about the apartment, they also tell lot of tips what you may want to see in Budapest they really know their hometown.Aircondition is very good and make rooms cold very fast as we wanted, there was very hot outside in last days and it was really nice to get chilly apartment after walking in streets. Only minus was that what many others have written, they are building a new house other side of the (narrow)street there comes sometimes noise but we could live with that. Thanks a lot Janos and Joszef,we see in next summer!

The apartment was absolutely perfect for two couples both in terms of facilities and (especially) location. I have stayed in this apartment three times now most recently in September 2017 for 10 days. It's in a great location - very near the Opera house and easy to get to lots of fabulous bars and restaurants nearby as well as the heart of the Pest side. You can easily walk to many of the sight seeing points including the river Danube but it is also within a few minutes walk of the tube if you don't feel like walking. There was some building work last year nearby but it did not disturb us and I understand it is nearly completed. Although in a very central location it is a quiet apartment.
The apartment is spacious, clean and well furnished with many lovely personal finishing touches. You will be greeted with a warm welcome from the owners who genuinely want you to have a great time in Budapest. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a walk-in shower. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage space. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is large, relaxing and comfortable. I felt very comfortable in this apartment and safe. I highly recommend it.

This is our fourth stay in this apartment and it is one of the reasons we love to visit Budapest. The building work that has been going on across the street looks to be just about finished and should no longer be an issue for anyone looking for a great place to stay.

What a delightful, comfortable apartment. Our hosts, Janos and Joszef could not have been more helpful. From organising our taxi transfers, meeting us personally on arrival, to turning up at 0400 hrs on a wet and windy morning to bid us a fond fairwell. The information they gave us, undoubtedly made our trip more enjoyable seeing and doing different things. They provided lots of good local information about transport around the city and a list of recommended restaurants which we sampled. They were indeed worth trying.
The apartment is large. We were a group of 4, 2 x couples. Each of our bedrooms were at separate ends of the apartment, ensuring privacy. It has been recently modernised, so everything is new and the property is maticulously maintained. High ceilings create a spacious, airy feeling. Comfortable, large sitting room. Lovely kitchen and dining area. En-suite has walk in shower with powerful shower. Bathroom has bath with shower hoses attached to taps. You have to hold it to shower. Bedroom without en-suite has small balcony. Unfortunately, I was only able to sit out there for 30 mins during my stay, but that is because there is so much to see and do in Budapest. Also, we were there in March and it was still cold. We were grateful to come back to the warm, cosy apartment after a full day of sightseeing.
There are plenty of eating places near the property within walking distance and a Spar across the road which stocks all you will require for your stay.
Do not be put off by the entrance to the property. There is an extensive programme of renovation going on around Budapest which will continue for years. This was my 3rd visit and each time there is more improvement. Like most, there is a locked gate to enter the building, then through a door to the courtyard and stairs. The exterior has not changed, yet, and is old and tired looking. But also full of character. I particularly liked the Jewish features - doors etc. We were on 3rd floor and as there is no lift, it was a bit arduous after a lot of walking out and about.
I would thoroughly recommend this apartment, the hosts, the area and Budapest itself.

In email conversation in advance the owner was kind and helpfull.
He knew that it was a group of 5 women who lived in the past in Hungary and had a reunion after several years in Budapest and came from 5 different places in Europe. The last arrived at 21:30 at Budapest and at 22:00 They arrived at the apartment.
Then the met the owner and he was from that moment very demanding and not customer friendly. They must be quite. He showed a long list of house rules, and he told what it cost per item when they made something dirty or broke something. He spoke to the ladies (1× 30 the other around 50 years young) on a way that they had the feeling to be at a boarding school.
Then he demand to pay the value of €300,00 In Hungarian Forint with his calculation and not in the official rate.
The ladies only had €200,00. He became sarcastic and asked if that was the of money that they want to spend in Budapest.
He told them that they were drunk and not decent. When they can not pay the €300,00 He should kick them out. 10 minutes after arrival they were back on the street in Budapest.
The apartment was beautiful but the owner had to many demands and the payment of €300,00 was never mentioned in any email.
A very big compliment for Holidaylettings. After I called them they did an investigation and the refund later the full payment back

This apartment was excellent for us - two couples. The apartment is as pictured and described. It is spacious, immaculate and well maintained, comfortable, attractively decorated and has an old world charm. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need.
The location is great. You can walk to all of the key sites within about 30 minutes, or public transit is nearby. The neighbourhood is diverse and interesting with lots of restaurants. There are at least two grocery stores within a few minutes walk and a really good café around the corner.
We felt safe in the area and the building. There is a lot of building restoration occurring throughout Budapest and this building is no exception. In spite of this and the proximity of restaurants and bars we found the apartment quiet.
All communication with Janos before and during our stay was prompt, helpful and clear so there were no unwelcome surprises. Upon arrival Janos provided lots of information to help us get oriented to Budapest. Janos, and Josef, genuinely care that you have a wonderful experience in Budapest. Janos also organizes private tours of the city and we would encourage you to speak to him about the possibilities.
We would certainly consider staying here again if we returned to Budapest.

We stayed as a family of four, with an adult son and daughter from 4th-11th July 2018. Having stayed in many different apartments in several different European cities we all agreed that this was our favourite. Janos and Jozsef, the friendly and courteous owners, welcomed us to their beautiful apartment and gave us a wealth of information on places to visit. The photographs and description of the apartment are all accurate and the spotlessly clean rooms are spacious and attractively decorated. The building work across the street and the internal redecoration in the courtyard areas of the building did not distract from our stay. There is a Spar supermarket on the adjoining street and numerous restaurants within walking distance. We voted Budapest as having the best restaurants in Europe based on the places we chose to eat in.
Budapest is a lovely, clean city and we felt very safe in it. The people are friendly and speak English very well. The efficient transport system makes the purchase of the Budapest Card an economic and easy way to travel. Drivers respect pedestrians and although the city is busy it did not feel oppressive or too crowded. It is obvious that the local people take a pride in their city and their attitude plus the lovely apartment ensured that we had a great holiday.

We've just returned from a lovely 4 night stay in this apartment as a group of 5. It's a great place to stay right in the heart of the Jewish district close to some wonderful restaurants, bars, shops and sightseeing. Unlike some apartments we have stayed in this one was equipped with everything you could need from food ingredients/drinks and toiletries to umbrellas, books and first aid equipment. The owners - Jozsef and Janos - really have thought of everything. They both welcomed us to the apartment and spent a lot of time making sure we would get the most out of their City booking us into the most amazing restaurants and also giving us various cost saving tips such as the group transport pass. They really can't do enough for you and it's great to have that personal touch. The apartment is a stylish mix of traditional and contemporary and it's clear the owners care very much about the apartment and the guest experience. If we return to Budapest we would definitely want to stay here again.

First, our hosts arranged transportation from airport to apartment and greeted us. Janous and Josef answered all our questions with tips from where to change money to where to eat reasonably. The apartment was perfect for the three of us with three bedrooms/two bathrooms and an eat in kitchen that was properly stocked with essentials. The pictures depicted it exactly, as no detail was spared. There were tourist books to browse through as well as personal recommendations. It was warm and cozy. Easy booking, lots of contact with Janos ..he organised pick up from the airport and was waiting with Joseph for us at the apartment. What a place, close to everything, metro, trams, the main square, bars restaurants and a Spar market. Janos spent an hour with us explains where we were and all the places we could visit. They even have a hand written book with lots of suggestions. This apartment is magnificent and we had a ball, Janos and Joseph looked after us from getting out of the cab until getting back in, favourite thing.....the mineral spa at the park behind hero's square brilliant.

Apartment is in very good location, everything is almost round the corner. There is very nice restaurant in downstairs called Nappali kavehaz, bakery and supermarket round the corner, metro station about 300meters,even the city center is so near that you can walk there. In apartment there is everything what you need, kitchen has what you need even a washing machine, aircondition is good so you can get apartment cold enough, little balcony and the hold place was clean and have enough space for 5 people. The owners Janos and Joszef are very nice guys and they give tips where to go for breakfast, or see some sights or whatever you want to know about Budapest. They are really professional about everything, we order an transport from airport and to airport and it was cheap and everything goes like they promise. Thank you, see you in next summer!

From our very first communication with Janos & Jozsef, I knew we had found great hosts & on arrival at the apartment, I knew we'd also found a great place to stay. The location is very close to many of the sights in Budapest & there are lots of restaurants close by. The apartment itself was roomy, well equipped, and perfect for three adults. The beds were very comfortable & it was nice to have a big sitting room.
Janos took us on a day walking tour, giving us an excellent overview of the city & it’s history. He also took my daughter and I on a day's bike tour (20km more or less) to Szentendre, a beautiful village (where the Langos ...fried dough with jam or whatever....are amazing!). He also arranged to have a doctor visit and helped in so many ways to make our visit the best. Highly recommended!

As all the previous reviews have commented, the apartment is in an excellent location, close to Metro station Opera and Deak Ferenc ter (which is one of the major hubs for all metro lines). There are many restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The apartment is clean, spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. However, the building itself is dark and in need of renovation.
Janos and Jozsef were very helpful and provided us with recommendations for visiting restaurants and things to do around Budapest.
Although the apartment has a terrace (i.e. small balcony) “ideal for morning coffee or a glass of wine at nightfall while you have a great view to the authentic Jewish quarter” there is currently extensive building work just commencing on the large site directly opposite. Work on the site commences at 8am each day so morning coffee on the terrace was not an option during our stay and is not likely to be an option for anyone staying in the apartment over the next 2 years. The only great view is that of a building site and its machinery and workers.
Also note that, although City Tax is a maximum of 4% and only applies to large companies, this accommodation charged us 24 Euros as opposed to the correct amount of 9 Euros. We requested a receipt for our payment; however, Janos informed us that a receipt was not available/required. Although the amount we paid is not significant, transparency and honesty is the best policy.
