Crofton Cottage

Crofton Cottage provides everything you would expect from self catering accommodation and more. Located in the centre of Ullapool & originally built in the late 1800's it's been fully renovated to the highlight the character of the building.

The Space
Renovated to the highlight the character of the original building...
With oak flooring throughout and white washed stone walls give an original though contemporary feel.
Fully equipped kitchen…
So whether you'd like to make a slice of toast, or cook a full Sunday roast. We think or hope we've thought of everything, from convection oven to microwave, dishwasher to washing machine/tumble dryer.
Generous bedrooms…
Two bedrooms enjoy super king sized double beds that can be unzipped to make twin bedded rooms. Just tell us what you require.

Guest Access
Guests will have full undisturbed access to the house and the private rear garden for the duration of their stay.
There is on street parking available at Crofton Cottage.

Interaction with Guests
We'll be there when you arrive and if you need us for anything (we live next door) but otherwise the house is yours.

The Local Area
Surrounded by mountains, on the shores of Loch Broom and 40 miles from the nearest town, the pretty fishing village of Ullapool was first established 200 years ago by the British Fishing Society.
Since then it has evolved many times to become a jewel on the North West Coast for visitors and locals alike.
The large Klondike factory ships have long gone, but the harbour still flourishes with landings of freshly caught shellfish including prawns, crabs and lobster.
The village has a vibrant artistic community. Whether galleries or the Highland Pottery, or entertainment galore. From the annual Book and Guitar Festivals, or Loopallu music festival in late September which doubles the size of the village. Visitors over the years have included such household names at Paolo Nutini, Mumford and Sons and Franz Ferdinand.
Of course, why not just enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us. Whether walking in the hills, or taking to the water.
Situated on the shores of Loch Broom with magnificent views over the Fannich hills, it makes us the ideal base to explore the Scottish Highlands, or stop over if you're up on business. We look forward to welcoming you.

Some Bits & Pieces
Smoking is not permitted in the house.
We do not allow guests to bring pets to Crofton Cottage.
We would ask all guests to respect their neighbours and neighbouring properties during their stay.
Please note that any damages will be charged for upon departure.

Can't recommend this enough. If you love the west coast of Scotland like we do and want a comfortable and stylish, well-equipped base then this is for you. Great place, great owner communication and the best shower I've ever had.

Stayed here for a week with my other half (who has also posted a review). Definitely 10 out of 10. Friendly owners, a warm welcome, a cosy, comfortable and stylish place to stay. We definitely hope to be back soon.

We are soon to be leaving this cosy cottage. Such a shame. This has been a great place to stay. Stylish but very cosy. Winter in Wester Ross is a bit of a challenge, but our stay here has been so good that we plan to return. This is a very well-equipped holiday home. Everything is finished to a very high standard. The website doesn't quite do it justice..... There is a very powerful shower. The hairdryers are powerful. The kitchen has a good range of appliances, cutlery, crockery and so on. The beds are very comfy.....and the owners very helpful, welcoming and friendly (and next door). The location is great. It is a quiet street but close enough to the pubs, restaurants, supermarket, deli and so on. We've stayed in Ullapool before and love the place and the area. If you are planning on being here for a week, then I'd recommend staying here. There may be shorter lets out of season too. However, we may just refuse to leave on Saturday. Wish we'd booked for 2 weeks so we are hopeful of being snowed in!

Ideally situated in the centre of the village close to shops and restaurants - including the owners' number one rated pub/restaurant; The Arch Inn. Tesco also in walking distance for provisions. A clean and smart property, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. Owners live next door and very accommodating, making us feel very welcome.

Accueil chaleureux .

We wanted a central location in Ullapool for our stay and this looked to be a good option. Very pleased that we decided to book it for 3 nights in July. Lovely, clean and comfortable home with everything you could need for a great holiday. The bed gave a great nights sleep after a full days walking and didn't feel any less comfortable than our own bed. Pretty flowers on arrival, tasty bread and delicious shortbread which was a lovely welcome. Added bonus was being so close to hotels etc. but hardly any traffic noise whatsoever in the quiet little street it's in. Would highly recommend and we wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Thank you.

We spent 2 weeks traveling around the Highlands, and we were planning on staying at Jannel House in Ullapool for 4 days, when we were offered the chance to switch to Crofton Cottage. What a perfect place! It was very large, so we just inhabited the first floor. All the modern comforts of home in the oldest building in Ullapool. It's been completely renovated, but they were able to keep key parts (some walls are original stonework, wooden beams, etc). This is definitely where we will try to stay next time we are there.

Crofton Cottage is the perfect base for exploring Ullapool and the surrounding area. Situated on a quiet street but close to shops, pubs and restaurants, the cottage is stylish and cosy. The modern kitchen is well equipped, the beds are super-comfy and the rainfall shower is amazing! Arriving to find freshly baked bread and chocolate brownies waiting is a really special touch and makes it feel like home. I’ll definitely be booking again soon!

Very good wee cottage. Clean, comfortable and cosy. I found it slightly better than the photos suggested. Everything you need is there but there is no clutter and it was easy to clean at the end of the let. Some extras were provided on arrival, including brownies and bread. The brownies were truly lush. Landlord was very helpful and friendly. You can book a table at the Arch if you stay in the cottage. The food in the Arch is probably the best in town. The menu contains typical staples but the specials board is, well, special. Many of the specials run out, which is a good sign, but suggests going early to avoid disappointment.

We had a fantastic time in this lovely cottage. Everything you could want and the owners were so friendly. Centrally located yet quiet. Good garden and we had a BBQ on the first night. The shower was amazing and the dishwasher a great bonus. Touches like Helens home made bread and cakes and fruit and milk were very welcome. We will definitely be back.

Picture perfect cottage, really tastefully refurbished to a high standard. The whitewashed interior walls and large kitchen windows give the place a bright and welcoming feel. Helen and Robert have thought of everything and so the kitchen is really well stocked with any kind of utensil you would need for cooking. The sitting room has everything you need and beds, bedding and towels are pristine; in fact every aspect of the cottage is spotlessly clean. Helen left brownies, bread and flowers for our arrival which was really helpful. The cottage is within easy walking distance of anywhere you need to go in Ullapool.

Stayed 5 nights as part of 2 week exploration of Ross and Cromarty and Sutherland . We were warm, comfortable, quiet and central to everywhere and everything we needed . The owner helped introduce us to the vibrant community that is Ullapool.

The cottage is so welcoming. It has everything you have in your own home. Robert and Helen are great hosts, looking after us all week and on arrival leaving us flowers, brownies (to die for) and fresh bread. I had forgotten how lovely and peaceful Ullapool was (20 years since I was last here) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, pubs, shops and mountain walks a plenty. Our teenage family loved the stay and were active all week, climbing, walking and using the leisure centre. I thoroughly recommend this cottage and Ullapool for a great holiday.

This is the perfect holiday rental, very close to the town centre and beautifully finished. Everything you could require is to hand, with bread, fruit and brownies provided on our arrival. We could not fault the helpfulness of the owners. Highly recommended.

This was a three night stay as part of our week long tour of North West Scotland. We enjoyed our time in Ullapool enormously, the lovely harbour, stunning views, interesting little craft shops, very useful Tesco, excellent fish and chips... Despite its tourist appeal the little town is calm and restful. And the area around is stunning. We walked to the top of Ullapool Hill, not a long walk but steep, to enjoy views of lochs and mountains for miles around. Crofton Cottage was a perfect home from home, a very well thought out house, well equipped, exceptionally clean and very cosy. Decoration has been done to a very high standard and the house feels fresh and modern, whilst also being very old. The flowers, freshly baked bread and brownies for our arrival were a lovely touch, our hosts friendly and close by. Will definitely return.
