What can I say the house and grounds were beautiful the kitchen was huge and well equipped. The bedrooms are very spacious. The owners were very welcoming and gave us some great advice on where to go. If you love dogs the owners have 6 springer spaniels they were beautiful but no trouble at all. Would I go back oh definitely

Hired this venue for a family occasion, it was perfect. The photographs do not do it justice. The house has everything you need. The owners are friendly and helpful and very unobtrusive. A unique experience and would definitely recommend.

The house is absolutely perfect for family gatherings or a trip away for a group of friends. We were extremely lucky with the weather and spent loads of time at the gorgeous private beach watching the sunset. The gardens are also great for a game of rounders or just relaxing. The property is truly impressive, with everything you could possibly want - we didn't have any children with us but I imagine kids would love playing hide & seek etc. We made the use of the recommended caterer as well, who put on a brilliant buffet for us all. The house is "out of the way", enough to feel like you are really getting away from it all, but the drive is still on an easy/accessible route. We travelled as a group of 15 for a 30th Birthday, I hope to return to Ardlamont in future as it really is special. Thank you to the owners who made everything super easy :)

Fabulous house in stunning location! Wonderful family reunion week venue in mid August for 7 nights - 15 of us - parents (celebrating their Golden Wedding this August) and their three offspring with their respective spouses and their families - 7 young people of which five teenagers and an 8 and 4 year old - and a cocker spaniel. Loads of space for all of us. Comfortable furnishings and a big, well equipped catering kitchen with adjacent airy dining room. Generous freezer and fridge provision. Downstairs, a laundry room with 2 machines and mangle (no tumble drier) and a rack. The house contains a unique collection of the owner's interesting possessions and from the moment of entry it feels like one is coming into a home . No queuing here for bathroom/toilet - there are so many - the plumbing fittings are of an age with the house - occasionally the hot water supply seemed to have mind of its own but we managed fine. It was kind that the central heating was kept on at a low setting for our week as it was a period of , as one of our party put it, "robust" weather but that in no way detracted from the enjoyment of the house and the area. Outside there is a brilliant front garden , well maintained, with massive space for games and off it a broad easy track to the shore where two areas of sandy beach are revealed at low tide all set against a magnificent scenic backdrop of the north of Arran and the Kintyre peninsula. Some of our group cycled the local road circuits of which several are possible in the Cowal area and over on Kintyre accessed by the Portavadie ferry. Others spent 5 days with the excellent Tighnabruaich Sailing School, just 5 minutes away, which we have had a link with now for several summers. Others went on paddle steamer "Waverley" around the local lochs and others walked, found the local coffee shops in Tighnabruaich and the Spa and pool at Portavadie - loads to do right from the house. In the evenings the snooker table was a valued asset by the younger members. It was lovely to meet the owner Nicola on arrival and we are very grateful for the initial provisions left for us in the kitchen to get us going and, also, for Niki's help in sorting out the bedding to match the needs of the family group. The house is very well maintained, clean, tidy, warm and comfortable. The local shop at Kames provided well for our day to day needs and is exceptionally well stocked given the location. We have been undertaking these family reunion weeks for some 15 years in different locations and this was by far the best house we have used and we count it a privilege to be allowed to use a property of this nature with all its historic significance. We are sincerely grateful to Nicola and Brendan and all the Ardlamont team and we hope that we might be able to return again sometime soon.

The house had plenty of space for 20 of us, the grounds, views and location were all that we wished for. Peace and quiet with an easy stroll to the sea. Friendly owners made us very welcome.

12 months on from our first visit (see earlier review) found all 15 of us from our four combined families back in this idyllic location for another week together. This year this already spacious house has increased even further with additional bedrooms and bathrooms. It is a wonderful summer palace with a magnificent view from its upper rooms and from the adjacent beach. Great well maintained garden. As experienced previously the catering arrangements are very well equipped for large group cooking. Much to enjoy in the immediate area - walking, cycling, sailing, beach etc - swimming at the new pool at Portavadie also popular. We appreciated the starter pack of food left for us in the kitchen on arrival and also the delivery of fresh dug spuds the same evening - lovely personal touch The house is beautifully presented, full of the owners personal treasures and it is a real privilege to be allowed to live here for a week. We are most grateful for a second wonderful week together in this brilliant location and wish to express our sincere thanks to all the Ardlamont team.
