When visiting Berlin I highly recommend staying in Weissensee / Prenzlauer Berg. This place is very near for all major places for Berlin. 17 minutes to Alexanderplatz and 25 minutes to the Brandenburg Gate. It really is the best place to get a real flavor of true Berlin life.
