    Soft Shading
Before we even arrived at Soft Shading, we were struck by the location. It’s so close to the Trevi fountain that the only danger is you’ll end up stuck among all the tourists. It’s very new inside, and the modern fittings contrast nicely with some of the original structural features, like the ceilings. The only drawback is the slightly inadequate living room, upstairs, and without space for a full house, but as it’s right in the middle of the city, you won’t be spending much time in. *There's no real living room, certainly not one that can hold nine people*The dining table is only big enough for four people *The shower in the third bedroom is only 190cm high – tall guests might have to duck a little*One guest will have to sleep on a sofa bed*There are a total of 17 steps from the street level to the actual entrance of the property Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild Friendly...More Details

    Mirror Indigo
Design buffs need not look any further than Mirror Indigo – it’s inside the Alda Fendi Foundation, run by fashion royalty, and unlike anything else you’ll find in Rome. The ultramodern, stainless steel furniture and the antique Portuguese tiles go together perfectly, and create the overriding aesthetic of the space. It has two twin beds, rather than a double, and while the aesthetic seems spartan, each is very comfortable, and the level of service is equal to any you’d find in a five-star hotel. *As this is a serviced apartment, if you're after the feeling of a lived-in home, you won't find it here*Your host owns multiple apartments within this building, so the exact view, furnishings and layout might differ from the photos, but the size and standard will be the same*There's no double bed in this apartment, just two singles*There aren’t many basic ingredients provided Air ConditioningBathrobesBicyclesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral ...More Details

    Roman Reflection
This enviably located apartment looks out directly over the ancient Colosseum. Better still, the Roman Forum is a short walk away, and restaurants, cafes and bars are on the doorstep. At capacity, one guest will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area, though it may not be the most comfortable option for an extended stay. And while the kitchen and bathroom are a little dated, we think the view more than makes up for it. *At capacity, one guest will sleep on the sofa bed in the living space.*This is a lived-in home so you may see some signs of wear and tear during your stay. *Your host kindly asks for noise to be kept to a minimum after 10pm. Located in Rome’s wonderfully scenic and beautifully bohemian Trastevere neighbourhood, this welcoming apartment is just the ticket for those looking for an authentic stay neighboured by traditional trattorias, craft beer pubs and artisan shops galore. Housed in a coral-coloured building along a cobblestone street, you’ll find this charming home laid out over two floors with a beamed mezzanine bedroom and an eclectically designed living area downstairs, replete with terracotta tile floors and plenty of rustic charm. Any discussion of Savannah has to start with the roof terrace, a little rectangle of serenity nestled in the rooftops of Trastevere. There is furniture up there and even a canopy, so you can relax while hiding from the midday sun. The interior is simple but charming, with a working fireplace in the living room - perfect for those cosy winter nights. The bathroom is a little basic - especially if it’s being shared by four - and it’s worth noting that there is no lift in the building, but otherwise Savannah is a lovely base in Rome's most bohemian neighbourhood. *Get ready for some climbing - there's no lift and the apartment's on the second floor*The stairs to the terrace is quite narrow with a low ceiling*If the apartment receives all four guests, they'll have to share one bathroom Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / C...More Details

    Exposed Elegance
Cute and compact, this chic apartment is infused with a warm, rustic vibe. Find unique artwork on the walls and patches of brick interior dotted around white walls. Subtle splashes of colour – such as the bright cushions and plant life – bring tinges of character to the home.Resting between the kitchen and the living room, you'll discover a cute dining table capable of hosting four people. It's a cosy spot to share slices of freshly made pizza, complemented by glasses of Frascati wine. If you prefer to dine out when you're on holidays – who can blame you when you're in such a hotbed of fine restaurants – then you only have to walk for a few minutes. The surrounding streets are lined with authentic Italian restaurants serving delicious mains and sumptuously sweet desserts. If you hop on a tram or get on the metro, the city of Rome opens up with endless options. Go on a sightseeing tour, stopping off at iconic landmarks such as The Panthe...More Details

    Sunset Soul
In a beautiful eighteenth-century building, this home occupies the attic space and offers a private terrace right in front of the Piazza Del Popolo, overlooking incredible panoramic views of Rome’s historical centre. After breakfast and an espresso at the kitchen’s breakfast bar – or even take alfresco on sunny mornings – head out and explore the sights. Visit the Piazzo Del Popolo and the other attractions that are within walking distance, or hop on the metro to roam even more of the capital. In the evening, what could be a better way to enjoy your delicious Italian pasta and pizza than with an alfresco meal on the terrace as you admire the amazing views afforded to you? Sip great Italian wine as the sunsets on this view and the vista turns to nighttime before you finally retire inside. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible – though we think the best way to se...More Details

    Keeping Time
With unparalleled views of Piazza Venezia and Capitoline Hill, this penthouse has four terraces and decadent decor. We think it's great for romantic getaways, and if you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free cot. At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the studio – this has its own en-suite like the other bedrooms, giving everyone the same level of privacy. The large terrace has plenty of space to enjoy the surrounding views and dine alfresco. You might hear some outside noise due to the central location, but this home makes exploring a breeze. You'll find several of Rome's famous landmarks easily reachable on foot, including the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. *Not all bathrooms are photographed, but we expect consistency in style and quality throughout this home.*Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible.*Your host can provide a ...More Details

    Principe of Life
With Roma Termini station just around the corner, this is the perfect spot for those visiting Rome for a weekend trip. It’s a neighbourhood bursting with restaurants, bars, and cafés, and well-connected to trains, trams, and the metro, located just a six-minute walk away. Most importantly, you'll find all of Rome’s biggest sites close by too. Wander the bustling streets leading you to the Colosseum, just over twenty minutes away on foot, making a pit-stop first at the famous Roman ice cream parlour, Fassi dating back to 1880 and located rather dangerously just long from your apartment. And despite its central location, you’ll be surprised at how quiet this home is, thanks to the communal inner courtyard that welcomes you the moment the grand lobby doors of this historic building open. But there’s nothing dated about the interiors of this completely renovated home. The owners have kept the space sleek and modern to make the most of the n...More Details

    Lapis Lazuli
It seems beside the point to say that Lapis Lazuli isn’t in the city centre – it’s a destination itself. This is one of the most spectacular places in our collection, with every luxury imaginable, from pool, to sauna, to games room, to a working fireplace. The bedrooms are the least exciting part – they’re functional rather than eye-catching, but that’s probably just because the rest of the house is so incredible. *The house is set over three floors, so there are lots of stairs*When we measured the wi-fi, it was only 5Mbps*The bedrooms upstairs aren't completely separated*Two guests will be on a sofa bed in the living room*The window of the master bedroom looks out onto the internal courtyard Air ConditioningBalcony / PatioBarbequeBathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherExtra Pillows and BlanketsFireplaceFree Parking On StreetFridgeGardenGymHair DryerHan...More Details

This eccentric home is a little gem on the edge of Regola and overlooking the Campo de' Fiori market. It occupies the top floor of a historic fifteenth-century building that once belonged to Vannozza dei Cattanei, courtesan and lover of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, whose family crest still adorns the outside. There's no getting away from the fact that the living room is small, but there is just about space for an extra person on the bed. Really, though, this flat is all about the bedroom. The wallpaper is the first thing you notice, but pretty much every detail has been carefully thought through, and they all come together wonderfully. The host, Paola, lives on the same floor of the building, so she's always close by should you need anything during your stay. *The surrounding area is pretty busy both day and night and there might be some noise coming in from the street*One guest can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room*The shower isn'...More Details

    Neptune's Eye
The terraces of this beautiful apartment overlook Piazza Navona, a lively square of gothic architecture and a neoclassical fountain at its heart. Cafés and restaurants spill onto the pavement and you can watch the street artists from your nest on high. It’s a real suntrap too, so loungers have been set up alongside the dining table and outdoor sofa. Inside, terracotta tiles and high ceilings create a cooling escape from the city heat, and houseplants stand out against pristine white walls. A little 60s-style bar in the living room is the best place to knock up an evening cocktail as you put your favourite song on the wireless speaker. Don’t worry about navigating your way to the Pantheon (a five-minute stroll) or the Roman Forum and Colosseum (a fifteen-minute walk) as the host provides a smartphone with unlimited international calls and internet, so you can stream maps and call a taxi without any hassle. *To reach the lift, there's a...More Details

    Sistina Ark
In interior design circles, this apartment in northern Rome would be described as industrial-chic — illumination comes from minimalist light-bulb fittings, you can store clothes in repurposed cabinets and trunks, and the floor is covered in faded tiling. In the middle of the space sits a comfy, no-thrills bed. Everything about the space screams function — it was designed by the host, who is also an architect — and a stay here will help you have a seamless experience in the Italian capital. As well as offering daily cleaning, the location puts you within a short walk of some of the city's main attractions. Vatican City can be reached in five minutes on foot, while in the other direction, Castel Sant'Angelo and Parco della Mole Adriana are both a ten-minute walk. *The building doesn't have a lift, so you'll have to take the stairs to the first floor — this might not be suitable for guests with limited mobility*As the flat's tucked away a...More Details

There isn’t much that’s more Italian than a Vespa, and Farobasso has two of them. These are the most eye-catching vintage objects in the apartment, but there are many more - the host has tied the theme together nicely. The entire place has been recently redone, and you can tell from the excellent condition it’s in - the bathrooms in particular feel spotless. However, Farobasso is a way out of the historic centre. It might be well-placed to visit the Vatican, but to get to the Trevi fountain, or the Colosseum, you might be tempted to commandeer one of the scooters. *Despite being well-placed for the Vatican, Aurelio isn't a very central part of the city*The wi-fi isn't very fast*The small balcony feels as if it could be put to better use*Guests 10, 11 and 12 will be on sofa beds - two in the living room and one in the master bedroom Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCof...More Details

    Naive Melody
Between the old Jewish Quarter and the riverside alleys of Regola, Naive Melody is at the centre at what was the heart of medieval Rome. It was in spotless condition when we arrived, and if you were inclined to stay in, rather than explore the neighbourhood, there’s a 70” TV with Netflix to keep you busy. No one lives in the flat full time, but this isn’t necessarily a problem as Giulia, your host, is a delight – really helpful and forthcoming. *The entrance to the building is a little hard to find, but you'll get precise instructions from Giulia.*Don't try to water the plants – they're artificial.*Guests 3 and 4 will be accommodated in the sofa bed in the living room.*There's a restaurant downstairs, so expect to hear some noise into the early hours.*The bedroom curtains here don't fully block out the sunlight. This penthouse apartment sits just beyond the Spanish Steps, with a fabulous view of the domes and shambling rooftops at Rome’s ancient heart. Leaning over the wrought-iron railings of the huge terrace you can look out over the Piazza di Spagna, crowned with the Spanish Steps. Just beneath you is Via dei Condotti – Rome’s famous shopping street.Sitting at the top of an old building, the penthouse opens up to its own terrace, with glass sliding doors blending indoors with outdoors. Outside, you can take breakfast under the shade of a striped awning or unwind on the plush sofa section. The lounge is a grand medley of peacock greens and blue, velvet sofas and a sparkling chandelier. There’s a formal dining room with a round table for six, and a full kitchen should you fancy cooking something yourself. Lion's Pride
When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. Villetta Romana
Up on a hill in the breathtaking Roman countryside, this 19th century cottage combines rustic charm with modern comforts and a stunning setting. Nestled amongst pine trees in an estate overlooking the Marcigliana Nature Reserve, you are totally ensconced in nature and privacy. Original 19th century facets of the cottage have been preserved, like the wooden beamed ceiling, diamond paned windows, and stone fireplace, while down a grassy slope there is a private outdoor swimming pool with views down to the River Tiber. Start the day with a refreshing dip, before enjoying breakfast al fresco at the outdoor table. The cottage is on the outskirts of Settebagni, and cafes, shops and supermarkets can be reached within ten minutes on foot. The centre of Rome is easily reachable – just thirty minutes away by car, or forty five minutes door to door by train. Being on the top floor of an apartment building often, although not always, brings two perks — good views and plenty of daylight. This home in the Campo Marzio neighbourhood of Rome delivers on both fronts, with large windows gazing out over the city's rooftops. We have a lot of good things to say about the interior, from the sumptuous four-poster bed to the sleek black kitchen. There's even a terrace on which to start the day with coffee and breakfast. Location-wise, a first-time visitor to Rome couldn't wish for better. Many of the big-hitters are within walking distance, while there's also a fresh food market around the corner from the building should you want to stock up on authentic ingredients for an Italian feast. *There's a very slight slope to the floor in some rooms*As you're right in the heart of Rome, you can expect a lot of tourists on the streets below, although it does quieten down at night*The apartment building has a l...More Details

    St Peter's Terrace
Housed in a prestigious building, set just footsteps from the Vatican City, this central apartment offers a relaxing stay in the heart of Rome's ancient history. Surrounded by excellent restaurants, friendly café-bars, bookshops and bakeries, this desirable location means you can do most of your sightseeing on foot. Whether you're walking over to the Vatican museums, St Peter's Basilica, or the Colosseum, it's all well within reach. Back home, we particularly like the funky wallpaper print in the bedroom, while the contemporary furnishings make for seamless modern living. But the real standout here is, of course, your private terrace, complete with sun loungers, a swing and dome views of St. Peter's. All that's left to do is unpack your bags and spill out onto the terrace for an early-evening aperitivo, before hitting the lively streets below. *At capacity, two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room *This apartment is...More Details

Housed in a former church in Rome’s scenic Jewish Quarter, this home is full of characterful details and historic charm, as well as being just a ten-minute stroll from picturesque Piazza Navona. Enter through the building’s grand outer door and step into an ornate courtyard where you’ll find this apartment quietly tucked away. Inside, rustic traditionalism meets quirky stylings, with a good dose of classic elegance thrown in for good measure. We love the arched windows here and the old Roman column with its elegant capital along the wall. There’s a definite air of romance in the mezzanine bedroom, framed by a wrought-iron balcony, while the pops of red in the draped curtains and sofa give the whole space a sumptuous, intimate feel. When you’re ready to explore, you've got the city's best sights within easy reach. Piazza Navona and the Pantheon are a mere ten-minute stroll away, while the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum are a twenty-min...More Details

    Shortbread
The classical design of Shortbread, with the columns and arches, might not be to everyone’s taste, but you can’t deny that it takes the theme and runs with it. If you are keen on the style, then you end up with a great-value flat, in one of the most beautiful areas of the city. The Tiber is less than a hundred metres away, while the actual street it’s on is a quiet dead-end, so you don’t need to worry about about hordes of tourists outside your front door. *There isn't a lot of natural light in some parts of the house – the living room in particular doesn't have a window*Two guests will be on a sofa bed in the living room*The wifi signal is not very strong, especially in the kitchen Air ConditioningBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomFreezerHair DryerIronMicrowaveMultiple Sets of KeysRain ShowerTVWi-fi...More Details

    The Cool of Rome
A mere five minutes' walk from Campidoglio and Piazza Venezia, the prime position of this Rome home is incredible, but perhaps what's more impressive is that despite the central location, guests here get the run of an expansive palazzo that wouldn't look out of place in the Italian countryside.Spread across three levels, you're actually looking at two independent apartments stacked on top of the other, although it's perfectly easy to share these spaces if you're coming in a large group. The first is on the ground floor, where you'll find high ceilings, a large dining room and a pair of wooden doors that lead out to an equally spacious terrace complete with plenty of shady seating. The next two levels above this comprise the second apartment. The same contemporary approach to design has been embraced, but there are a couple of standout features up here — namely the Jacuzzi and sauna in the master bedroom that you have to hope the occupant...More Details
