    Authentic Italian village house

Take a break from the heat and the bustle of the big city of Rome and experience living and remote working in an authentic Italian village, in your cozy home in Nemi. Nemi is located in the Alban Hills, a quiescent volcanic complex just outside (approx 20 km southeast) of Rome. The hills, especially around the shores of the lakes, have been popular since prehistoric times, and there are numerous villages and towns, . the Castelli Romani. Boasting wonderful views over the Roman countryside from its perch high above the lake with which it shares its name, beautiful Nemi is one of the Castelli`s must-visit destinations. The tiny historic centre is a character-filled tangle of narrow streets unfolding around imposing Palazzo Ruspoli and the adjacent piazza. Besides the spectacular panoramas, Nemi`s real draw is the local variety of strawberry: smaller than your average fragola, these little gems are bursting with flavour and can be...More Details

    Vibes of the Vines

Attention to detail makes this Rome apartment a special one. It's a beautifully decorated space inside and out, with the real standout being the private garden and patio – ideal for alfresco meals and evening Aperols. While the living space isn't the biggest, the home has been thoughtfully designed throughout (though this is a lived-in home, so expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present). Location-wise, the area is quiet and green, and you'll be just a short walk from the two beautiful parks of Villa Ada and Villa Borghese. *You'll be able to check yourself in via a lockbox. *The entrance to this home is shared with the building's other residents.*The home is located up a hill with a steep slope. *At full occupancy, two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room. *This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.*There's a desk if you're want...More Details

Simple yet practical with an emphasis on comfort and privacy, rather than any delusions of grandeur, this home offers a humble stay that provides a relaxing atmosphere to return to after action-packed trips out in Rome. Where the apartment really comes alive is in the personality of the space. Strange as it might seem, the home has something of a sense of humour and playfulness that manifests itself in the design and decorations. Mid-century furniture creates a rather European set-up as it's clear from the moment you step inside that you're on holiday in Italy. House plants, terracotta bedroom walls and quirky artwork set the scene for an authentic stay with bags of character. Since Rome's world-renowned sights are all within close reach, you'll have an idyllic base from which to explore the city with ease. Take a ten-minute stroll to Villa Borghese or hop on the easily accessible bus and tram lines to visit tourist attractions further ...More Details

    Two Days of Peace

Rome is often thought of in terms of narrow, winding alleyways and hidden passages. However, the grand scale of this home flies in the face of that perceived wisdom. It occupies two whole floors of an imposing villa (there's also a separate flat that you can add into the mix) in the residential district of Monteverde, an affluent area a little detached from the tourist crowds. While the house is undoubtedly impressive, it feels like a well-loved family home rather than a museum showpiece, which lends it a relaxed atmosphere that we loved. If you want to go in search of the action, you're around a twenty-minute walk from trendy Trastevere. This pretty pocket of Medieval Rome is packed with neighbourhood trattorias serving impeccable food, stylish speakeasies with intriguing cocktail menus, and all manner of vintage and antique boutiques where you can lose a couple of hours. *Two people will be in a sofa bed in the living room, while the...More Details

    Fountains of Fun

Moments from the Trevi Fountain, this apartment is a true Roman gem. It's in the heart of the city, so you'll be well-placed here to shop, dine, and sightsee. Even the apartment building, Palazzo Antamoro, has historic ties – it dates back to the mid-1600s and features the Bernini Fountain in its picturesque courtyard. Inside, the two living areas are contemporary and comfortable, and one has a sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. But if you're anything like us, you'll make a beeline for the terrace – it's the perfect spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz as the sun goes down. *At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the second sitting room.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and children's tableware on request.*You'll have access to a shared back garden here. Aria of the Palms

Dating back to the early 1900s, you can see the turn-of-the-century architecture in the stone steps between terraces and wooden-shuttered windows. It’s a veritable playground for those that seek relaxation in the terraced gardens, where succulents fill the perfectly positioned flower beds. Spend days floating in the sleek, modern swimming pool with its integrated Jacuzzi. Lunch can be taken at the round table on the lower terrace, while dinner can be set up on the upper terrace at the more formal spot. Sun loungers are shaded by parasols and there are two hanging egg chairs for reading in the sun. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the sea with the Pontine islands floating in the deep blue.Inside, it’s an ode to grandeur as rooms are filled with gallery-worthy sculptures and striking paintings. Art deco chandeliers in the luxe living room hark back to the villa’s origins and you can take in that sea view from the comfort of plush sof...More Details

    Gladiator Reef

Gladiator Reef is not one that will appeal to people who are after neutral tones and understated design. There’s a mix of bright colours all over the place, and this gives the space a bit of individuality. The host, Mary, also pushes the boat out when it comes to service - there’s a daily cleaning service, as well as free laundry, great breakfast options, and recommendations of all the places tourists don’t know about. If that wasn’t enough, it’s also only a few hundred metres from the Colosseum. *When we visited, there was no lift and the apartment is on the fifth floor. As well as being ideally located in one of the prettiest and most central squares in Rome, this apartment is also within walking distance from pretty much every major tourist attraction. For example, you'll find yourself less than five minutes' walk from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, nine minutes from the Trevi Fountain, and twenty-five minutes to the Colosseum. You've also got plenty of eateries nearby to refuel after a long day of exploring – favourites include seafood linguine at La Tavernetta 48 and creative bruschetta and seasonal dishes at Michelin-recommended CiPASSO – both of which are within a two-minute walk. We'd suggest you pick this home based on location alone, but luckily the classically Roman interior has its own charms. It might not be one for the cutting-edge minimalist, but with high ceilings, antique furniture and tiled floors throughout, there's plenty of character on show here. Finally, there's a lovely big kitch...More Details

    A Roman Retreat

Nestled in the heart of the historic centre and just a few steps from the Campo de Fiori market and the Majestic Piazza Navona, this apartment promises a comfortable retreat for a memorable city stay. Pastel-hued and characterful in style, the open-plan living space is a treat for a large group. The bedrooms will suit a close group, with a double and a single sharing one bedroom and a semi-open plan fifth bedroom – that said, with Rome’s sights on your doorstep, you’ll be springing out of bed in the morning to experience the sights. The Pantheon, Saint Peter and the Imperial Forum, and Museo di Roma are within walking distance, as are the city’s best boutiques and restaurants. *One of the double bedrooms is linked by a glass door to the twin bedroom, and they have their own en-suite bathroom – perfect for families.*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.*Your host can provide a cot and a hi...More Details

    Dusk Herald

From Dusk Herald, the Vatican, Piazza Navona and Trastevere are all easily reachable on foot. You’ve also got the Tiber just around the corner – it’s hard to overstate just how well-placed the flat is. Inside it’s simple, but with a pretty wooden ceiling upstairs, and lots of light. The kitchen is a little beige, but we did like the geometric wallpaper. We also noticed a lot of birdsong coming through the windows, which added a lovely, bucolic feel to the place. *The upstairs ceiling is slanted and therefore very low in parts*There's no lift and the apartment is on the second floor*Most of the furniture is Ikea, and we found a few scratches on the coffee table*The ladder up to the bedroom is very steep*Two people will be on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherDryerFreezerFridgeHair DryerHigh ChairIronKettleKitchenKitchen UtensilsLuxury...More Details

A lovely little Italian escape, just outside of the hustle and bustle of Rome, this attic apartment offers guests the convenience of being under an hour's drive away from the Italian capital's centre – while boasting breathtaking views over Lake Bracciano. In light of your lakeside position, the biggest highlight of this stylish home is the terrace viewing platform, which reveals a panorama of blue before the luscious green landscape. Wake up to the sound of nature in one of Italy's most beautiful medieval villages – Anguillara Sabazia. Here you'll find charming architecture, authentic eateries and plenty of little drinking corners to soak it all up from. *It is possible to find additional paid parking spaces around the property – parking is usually free from 8 pm to 8 am*There are steps leading up to this property, so it may not be suitable to those with limited mobility *You'll have your own private entrance here*Though there isn't ...More Details

    Roman Loft

We think this industrial-style loft makes for a memorable stay in the Eternal City. The decor mixes contemporary and character features – you'll find everything from exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings to a unique glass floor that overlooks the lounge. It's got plenty of space for everyone, and the extra touches like board games and snacks are much appreciated. Plus, the location is fantastic for exploring near and far. Both the Colosseum and the metro station are within walking distance. Shops and restaurants are easily reached on foot, too. *Although there's a lift in the building, the upper floor here is only accessible by stairs.*The top-floor bedroom has a glass floor that overlooks the living area.*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide up to two free cots on request.*The dining table can be used as a desk if you plan to work from home.*Parking isn't provided, but a car isn't needed in Rome. Set in the heart of Rome's lively Prati district, this stylish apartment is a real crowd-pleaser. For those larger groups of friends or extended families looking to explore the Eternal City, you'll have four bright and colourful bedrooms to relax in, knowing the cultural attractions and iconic sights are right outside. Despite the lack of seating in the living-come-dining room, each bedroom offers a unique space to unwind. Styled in a chic 50s theme with vibrant colours, bold wallpaper prints and mid-century furnishings, the rooms also come with plenty of space. Each one has its own look, filled with vintage paraphernalia, from records to typewriters (they also each have a TV – the flat isn’t entirely faithful to the 50s). The bathrooms are well-designed and metro tiled, while the kitchen’s equipped for home meals – but you’re in one of the restaurant hotspots (as if anywhere in Rome isn’t a restaurant hotspot), and there are some great...More Details

    Grandezza Romana

There’s no better way to embrace the history of Rome than to stay in a former 17th-century palace. This apartment’s building embraces the spirit of the “grandezza romana” with its ornate doorway just next to a local pizzeria and marble statues in the ancient stairwell. Stepping into the apartment itself you’re met with grand, high ceilings and a traditional parquet floor. Old double doors let the space flow from the living room, to the dining room and a bijou little kitchen. You’re in a prime location here too. Apart from the buzzing pizzeria literally on your doorstep, there is myriad local trattoria serving up plates of carbonara and tiramisu in the historic streets around you. It’s a seven-minute stroll to Piazza di Spanga (where the Spanish Steps are) and the Trevi Fountain is one minute's walk away, showing just how central this apartment is. *The kitchen is sunny but rather compact, but there are plenty of restaurants on your doo...More Details

    Shutter Speed

This retro-chic apartment of offers a slightly different experience from many of our other homes in Rome. Rather than the bustle of the tourist centre, you’ll be in the leafy, twentieth-century streets of Monteverde Vecchio where traditional pasta restaurants and pubs serving artisan beer sit alongside weekly markets and antique shops. It’s a fitting locale for this historic apartment, as the host’s family have lived here since 1927, and some of the elegant furnishings, portraits, and other artworks decking the apartment’s walls go back further still. We love the antique camera that creates a memorable welcome, as well as the blue kitchen that provides the main sociable hub here. Gather together for breakfasts of fresh coffee and locally bought pastries at the table, or better yet, step put onto the private terrace for a sunny start to the day. This is also the ideal spot to treat yourself to a glass of Italian red before sampling the ...More Details

    The Rooster and the Dog

Just a stone’s throw from the Tiber River in Rome’s Trastevere neighbourhood, this bright apartment was made for socialising and relaxing. While the interior is full of quirky ornaments, comfortable furnishings and textured throws, it’s the home’s outside that really sets it apart. With three different rooftop terrace areas, you can chill out in the hanging chairs while taking in views across the city, catch some rays on the loungers and gather together for sunset alfresco meals while the Eternal City stretches out behind you. When you’re not soaking up the serenity of your rooftop pad, go out and explore your historic neighbourhood. Trastevere is known for its innovative trattorias, craft beer bars and artisan shops, while the river is a three-minute walk away, inviting you to walk along its banks. Elsewhere, the Pantheon is a fifteen-minute walk away and the Vatican is walkable in just under forty. After a day of sightseeing, retreat ...More Details

    Desiderata

It almost seems redundant to try to talk about this magical spot in the heart of Rome – we’ll never be able to do it justice like the photos can. In stunning condition, the apartment hasn't aged at all and invites guests into a time capsule filled with spectacular artworks, antique furniture and original features that are usually only reserved these days for royal palaces and museums alike. Secret doorways and passageways give way to a one-of-a-kind experience and continuous surprises no matter how long you stay. You needn't bother visiting the crowded galleries and museums that the city is so often renowned for, as you'll have your very own gallery at home. Almost every wall is adorned with oil paintings or sumptuous wallpaper, inviting guests to experience the kind of opulence that few ever get to know. And with the vast array of world cuisine and Italian gastronomy at your fingertips, be sure to discover some of Rome's top restaurant...More Details

    Zebras - Palms

As you arrive by train at the bustling transport hub of Roma Termini, it’s hard to believe that you could find serenity nearby. But take just a ten-minute walk through this ornate city, passing the Fontana delle Naiadi, and you’ll arrive at this peaceful apartment on the sixth floor. Our first port of call has to be the beautiful balcony. This is where you can truly relax and take in the sights and sounds of the city. Lush, flowing foliage and tropical plants surround this quaint decking, where you can sip a glass of prosecco upon arrival. Inside, there are more spots for relaxation – take a seat in the stylish, modern lounge with marble tiled floors, colourful graphic print artworks, and zebra-patterned cushions. Antique wooden furniture creates a fabulous contrast, making this home feel rather unique. And your host is on hand to make your stay extra special. Monti Bella

We understand location is everything when visiting a city like Rome, and this spot in Monti is within easy walking distance of The Colosseum and the Roman Forum. While Rome is best explored on foot, you’ll also find Cavour metro station a few steps away. The apartment is minimal and a little dated in style, but perfectly practical for a city break, and while the click-clack style sofa bed accommodates a third and fourth guest, it might not suit those staying for longer than a couple of nights. Since the kitchen is better for light bites, we think you'll enjoy making the most of the culinary hotspots nearby. *At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. It's on the smaller side, so we think it's best for children.*This home is located within an apartment building. Expect to bump into other guests during your stay. *You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited ...More Details

    Horse-Drawn

Horse-Drawn feels like a real home. It’s bright and welcoming, and as it’s been designed as a place to live, rather than one to rent, you don’t get the glitches that sometimes pop up in the latter. It also means that the kitchen is really well equipped – it's easy enough to whip up a decent meal to be enjoyed as a group in the charming, light-filled dining room. There are a few signs of age on the walls and floor, but these don’t detract in any way from the overall environment. In fact, we think that's what makes this 17th-century home – take in the original features from the get-go. Whether you're enjoying a good book by the fireplace or eating lunch under the exposed beams, you'll feel immersed in the heart of the world's most ancient city. We love how the pops of purple and green, abstract artwork and book-filled shelves make this spot so cosy and inviting after a day spent sightseeing. Oh, the view from this Roman home – we go weak at the knees every time we see it. It makes a good case for the best in the city. Who wouldn't want to wake up to the vistas of the magnificent Colosseum? We can imagine on warm summers evening opening up the windows and drinking a glass of prosecco while admiring this ancient amphitheatre set against a red sky. Let's not forget the interiors here, though – they are lovely and fit in perfectly with the old-world grandeur that emanates from Rome. We especially adore the marble-clad bathrooms and plush velvet fabrics, all chosen by a Count. If you can tear yourself away from the windows, history lovers can walk to the Basilica di San Clemente in under five minutes, while St. Peter's Square can be reached in a quarter of an hour. *There's no washing machine here*This home has access to a nearby shared gym*Child-friendly amenities such as a cot, high chair and travel cot are available upon req...More Details

    The Cool of Rome

A mere five minutes' walk from Campidoglio and Piazza Venezia, the prime position of this Rome home is incredible, but perhaps what's more impressive is that despite the central location, guests here get the run of an expansive palazzo that wouldn't look out of place in the Italian countryside.Spread across three levels, you're actually looking at two independent apartments stacked on top of the other, although it's perfectly easy to share these spaces if you're coming in a large group. The first is on the ground floor, where you'll find high ceilings, a large dining room and a pair of wooden doors that lead out to an equally spacious terrace complete with plenty of shady seating. The next two levels above this comprise the second apartment. The same contemporary approach to design has been embraced, but there are a couple of standout features up here — namely the Jacuzzi and sauna in the master bedroom that you have to hope the occupant...More Details
