Paquino is perfectly comfortable, and while it lacks a bit of flair in the design department, it’s pleasant to look at. None of this really matters though, because the big thing going for it is the position, right in the heart of Monti. There are loads of excellent restaurants around (although the kitchen is actually pretty good, easily enough for a decent meal) and you really are in the cobbled streets among the ancient ruins that define the city. *You'll have to climb the stairs to the first floor – the building doesn't have . a lift.*There's no washing machine in this home – it's just outside this home.*We found a few stains on the walls, particularly in the bathroom.*This home is located within an apartment building, with a shared entrance. Rosso Roma

Set within a prestigious 20th century palace between the Vatican City and Rome’s historic centre, this spacious home is a real feast for the eyes. With a quirky mix of traditional and contemporary features, relaxing bathrooms and three bedrooms each in their own distinct style, this home stays true to its palatial elegance whilst surprising with some unexpected twists like the eclectic artwork and bold orange kitchen. Although not a space for the relentless minimalists, this home is a treat for a group seeking a memorable home out of the ordinary. * This is a home full of character and colour with some elements that are quite dated* The area is more residential so isn’t that vibrant or exciting * There isn’t an abundance of light in the communal areas Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingDishwasherFreezerFridgeHair DryerIronIroning BoardKitchenMicrowaveMultiple Sets of KeysRain ShowerTVWashing Machine...More Details

Despite its position in an old, atmospheric square near Campo de’ Fiori, Falconry has been renovated recently, and most of the furniture has been made to measure, making the whole place feel very well crafted. Everything fits together, from the parquet floor to the various lamps, and even the terrace is taken care of, and not an afterthought. High up among the rooftops, it feels like a little refuge from the hectic city below. *The lift only goes up to the sixth floor, so you'll have to climb the stairs for the last stretch*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room*The bedroom is on the small side Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBlenderCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingCleaning ProductsCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsDishwasherDrying RackExtra Pillows and BlanketsFire ExtinguisherFirst Aid KitFreezerFridgeHair DryerHangersIronIroning BoardKettleKitchenKitchen UtensilsLaptop Friendly WorkspaceLibrary of BooksLift ...More Details

    Americano Romano

Full of bold industrial design elements and cool Americana decor, this apartment in Rome’s upscale Prati neighbourhood is an ideal base for those seeking the best of Rome’s gastronomy, shopping and history. Exposed brick-effect walls, Lichtenstein pop art prints, vintage ornaments and sleek contemporary furnishings come together to create an invitingly chilled out space in the open-plan living area. We’re particularly fond of the dining table’s colourful metal chairs and the fire-engine red Smeg fridge that all add dashes of vibrancy to the warehouse aesthetic here. The bedroom is equally as stylish with its comfortable bed and handy desk, while the bright red bathroom offers a luxurious wake-up with its rainfall shower. With a communal garden and terrace space that beckons alfresco meals and celebratory sundowners as well, you’re all set for a carefree time. When it comes to sightseeing, you’re ideally placed too with Piazza del Po...More Details

    The Roman Cardinal

You’ll have trattorias, craft beer pubs, and independent shops on your doorstep at this apartment in the bohemian neighbourhood of Trastervere. And discovering the rest of the city will be a breeze, with many of Rome’s must-sees within walking distance. The layout of this home won’t suit everyone – the bed is on a mezzanine level, accessed via a ladder, and there’s not much space for preparing meals in the narrow kitchen. We think it’s best for a couple or solo traveller wanting to drop their bags and head out to explore. *While babies are welcome, this home isn't suitable for toddlers or children. If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot for free. You'll need to request it in advance.*The bedroom is on the mezzanine level. Red Grapes

Tucked away on an incredibly picturesque alleyway, this beautiful apartment is set in a 16th-century building located between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo. You’ll be just an eight-minute walk from the beautiful Borghese Gardens and five minutes from the iconic Spanish Steps. It’s an area known for its artists and antique dealers, art galleries and trendy restaurants – it also happens to be the neighbourhood Roman Holiday was filmed in. Inside the home, you’ll find a space that conserves its original beauty – high ceilings and light wood parquet floors – at the same time as it is equipped with every modern comfort. The antique wood period furnishings date back to the beginning of the last century and are family heirlooms, giving the home its distinguished air, while the cosy sofa and tasteful artwork warm the space and make it especially inviting. We love the pristine modern bathroom, and the bedroom is bright and roomy – after...More Details

    Grandezza Romana

There’s no better way to embrace the history of Rome than to stay in a former 17th-century palace. This apartment’s building embraces the spirit of the “grandezza romana” with its ornate doorway just next to a local pizzeria and marble statues in the ancient stairwell. Stepping into the apartment itself you’re met with grand, high ceilings and a traditional parquet floor. Old double doors let the space flow from the living room, to the dining room and a bijou little kitchen. You’re in a prime location here too. Apart from the buzzing pizzeria literally on your doorstep, there is myriad local trattoria serving up plates of carbonara and tiramisu in the historic streets around you. It’s a seven-minute stroll to Piazza di Spanga (where the Spanish Steps are) and the Trevi Fountain is one minute's walk away, showing just how central this apartment is. *The kitchen is sunny but rather compact, but there are plenty of restaurants on your doo...More Details

    Colour Field

The bright, vibrant hues are the first things that strike you about this funky apartment. There’s a cohesion between the colourful design of the different rooms, yet at the same time, each maintains its own character. Through to the living room, where abstract artwork adorns the striking red wall and eclectic objects fill whitewashed bookshelves. While the statement art pieces and bright decor add interest, they're not the only things we love about this home. In fact, the light-filled kitchen with elegant ghost chairs is the perfect spot for starting the day with a continental breakfast. We also really like the marble floors throughout the apartment, and the granite kitchen backsplash – in fact, in most parts of the flat – the attention to detail is praiseworthy. Step outside of the building, to find yourself in the cultural heart of the world's most ancient city. Positioned between the Villa Medici and Trevi Fountain, whichever way you...More Details

A three-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, this apartment is the ideal place to stay whether you’re a first-time visitor to Rome or a return traveller. Inside, the home has a fully equipped kitchen, a desk for remote workers and a Jacuzzi bathtub for soaking away the day. Plus, your host can provide private chef services and breakfast deliveries so you can spend more time with your feet up. *While one of the single bedrooms and one of the bathrooms aren’t photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.*If you’ll be staying with a little one, your host can provide a cot and a high chair upon request. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible. With a sleek kitchen, for whipping up meals in, a cosy sofa for watching movies on, and a modern bathroom, you will feel right at home here. In the warren of alleyways that tangle their way between Piazza Navona and the Tiber, even the approach to Isolda feels essentially Roman. Once inside, you’re surrounded by heavyset original features, which draw you further into the atmosphere. The downside of these old buildings is the lack of natural light, but when that’s the case for every home around, it feels churlish to complain. *The only bathroom is the en-suite*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed, but they wouldn't have much space*Despite the fantastic location, there's no view to speak of* For those who like supported sleep - the mattress here is on the softer side*For longer stays, we recommend bringing your own toiletries - there will be a basic amount to get you started*Some parts of this home may feel a little dated and worn*There is limited storage here - we recommend packing light Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild Fr...More Details

    Waxing Quarter

The word simple is often used as a putdown, but this apartment in the Rome suburbs is a great example of pared-back design being more than the sum of its parts. The interior is dominated by muted neutrals and light pastel colours, but it feels bright and instantly welcoming. It certainly helps that there's a lot of natural light coming in through the glass doors, which in turn lead out to a long balcony. There's seating out here, as well as a view of the green hillside which is rather peaceful — especially for the Italian capital. The same could be said for the surrounding suburb of Aurelio, which feels a world away from the touristy haunts but is actually quite close when it comes down to it. You can go from your front door to the Pantheon in twenty-five minutes via public transit if you put your mind to it. The sprawling grounds of Villa Doria Pamphilj can be reached in ten minutes on foot, too. *When we measured the Wi-Fi, we couldn...More Details

    Exposed Elegance

Cute and compact, this chic apartment is infused with a warm, rustic vibe. Find unique artwork on the walls and patches of brick interior dotted around white walls. Subtle splashes of colour – such as the bright cushions and plant life – bring tinges of character to the home.Resting between the kitchen and the living room, you'll discover a cute dining table capable of hosting four people. It's a cosy spot to share slices of freshly made pizza, complemented by glasses of Frascati wine. If you prefer to dine out when you're on holidays – who can blame you when you're in such a hotbed of fine restaurants – then you only have to walk for a few minutes. The surrounding streets are lined with authentic Italian restaurants serving delicious mains and sumptuously sweet desserts. If you hop on a tram or get on the metro, the city of Rome opens up with endless options. Go on a sightseeing tour, stopping off at iconic landmarks such as The Panthe...More Details

    The Roman Highlight

This charming apartment is in a prime spot in the heart of Navona. It's located down a quiet cobbled street, so you'll be able to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine from the private courtyard while still being close to the city's sights. You're within walking distance of Campo de' Fiori where you can pick up fresh local produce, while Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Vatican City are a short Metro ride away. At home, whip up cocktails in the stylish bar or prepare group meals in the fully equipped kitchen – there's plenty of space to unwind and entertain, though one person will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room. *At full occupancy, one person will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room. *Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay. *You won't find a television here, but you can stream your favourites on personal devices. *Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend stickin...More Details

With enchanting views over the typically Roman neighbourhood of Trastevere, this home has a fabulous location. In the heart of Rome, strolling along its meandering medieval streets, you'll find Piazza of Santa Maria (three minutes on foot) – take a seat at one of the cafes here for a coffee or lunch. Then head over to Gianicolo Hill for incredible views of the Vatican's St Peter's Basilica, a fourteen-minute walk away. It's the same distance across the Ponte Sisto to Piazza Navona and a few minutes more to the Pantheon, while it's just over twenty-five minutes to the stunning Trevi Fountain (eighteen minutes by car).Back at this home, whip up an Aperol spritz and then have a rest on the chaise sofa after exploring the Eternal City. Roman Holiday

Located on a picturesque cobbled street just off of Via dei Coronari – one of Rome’s most historic streets – this quiet apartment is full of character and history. From its beamed ceilings to the original carved stone cubby window in the master bedroom, the building’s past blends beautifully with modern comforts to create a comfortable, stylish stay. We love the main room’s frescoed lilies and the stone arches above the doorways. Our favourite feature, however, is the private terrace where a table and chairs invite alfresco breakfasts over espressos and sunset spritzes before a night out in one of the countless trattorias in your Navona neighbourhood. Speaking of your surroundings, you couldn’t be better placed to visit some of Rome’s most famous sights, including the Piazza Navona (a four-minute walk), the Pantheon (a ten-minute walk) and the Trevi Fountain (a fifteen-minute stroll from your door). The Vatican too is within easy reach,...More Details

This modern studio apartment in an 18th-century building not only makes a good first impression but continues to reveal more of its charm throughout your stay. Everything is well-considered, from the sleek design to the comfortable furnishings, and from the practical layout to the enviable central location. The home’s footprint is well proportioned and the kitchen being partially separated makes the place feel particularly spacious. The cherry on top is the private balcony – it’s great in the morning with a strong coffee and even better at night with a spritz or two. You’ll find yourself less than a ten-minute walk from the unmistakable Trevi Fountain, virtually next-door neighbours with a modern art gallery and within touching distance of a tempting selection of traditional eateries and cosy bars. *Our taller guests should note the showerhead only goes up to 180cm *There's no lift in the building, so you'll have to climb sixty-six sta...More Details

    Phosphorescence

The living room of this central Rome apartment is an instantly welcoming space, with the building's historical features, such as the double-height ceilings, herringbone terracotta tiles, and exposed brickwork, cleverly incorporated into what is otherwise a modern interior. We appreciated some of the hi-tech features, like the accent lighting and the video projector in the loft space that's perfect for a movie marathon. It’s the kind of home that could keep you occupied even if you were housebound, so it almost doesn’t seem fair that so many of the Eternal City's most iconic sights are within such easy reach and will no doubt occupy much of your time. Trevi Foutain, for instance, can be walked to in eight minutes, while the Pantheon is half that distance in the opposite direction. *The dark ceilings and small windows mean that there isn't a lot of natural light about the place, although there's plenty of ambient lighting to compensate*...More Details

Natural light fills pretty much every corner of this apartment – a real feat, considering it's tucked down a Trastevere alleyway. Inspired by Joch's Dutch roots, expect to find white-washed wood floors, crisp cream walls and cleanly-designed furniture inside. You'll feel an immediate sense of calm and serenity as you step through the front door, but there's plenty of character, too – think leafy plants, colourful cushions, shelves lined with art books and Joch's photos hanging in the bedroom. After a long day, we loved resting our feet on the blue chaise lounge with a glass of wine (Joch leaves a bottle for you to enjoy on arrival), listening to podcasts on the built-in wireless speakers and catching up on our favourite shows on Netflix and Apple TV. It's a true home from home, right in the heart of the city. And most of all, we loved the location. Housed in a former church in Rome’s scenic Jewish Quarter, this home is full of characterful details and historic charm, as well as being just a ten-minute stroll from picturesque Piazza Navona. Enter through the building’s grand outer door and step into an ornate courtyard where you’ll find this apartment quietly tucked away. Inside, rustic traditionalism meets quirky stylings, with a good dose of classic elegance thrown in for good measure. We love the arched windows here and the old Roman column with its elegant capital along the wall. There’s a definite air of romance in the mezzanine bedroom, framed by a wrought-iron balcony, while the pops of red in the draped curtains and sofa give the whole space a sumptuous, intimate feel. When you’re ready to explore, you've got the city's best sights within easy reach. This apartment in Rome’s trendy Pigneto area might be small in scale, but it has buckets of charm and is an ideal place to stay while exploring all the wonders of the Eternal City. You’ll likely fall under the spell of this loft gem the moment you step through the door: the living area is flooded with an abundance of natural light, courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling window. You can kick off your shoes and relax on the sofa, listening to your favourite tunes. We love the artwork on the walls, the record-shaped coffee table, and the lovely and unexpected pieces dotted around. Step into the bright and inviting kitchen to rustle up a quick and delicious meal, and enjoy it either at the dining table or out on the balcony, where you can also gaze at the orange rooftops of Rome before you. Get a restful night’s sleep in the comfy bed and awake refreshed and ready for another day of la dolce vita, Roman style. *Although there is also a sofa bed...More Details

    Take Flight

There are 'holiday homes' and holiday 'homes' – while the first functions as little more than a bed for the night, the second offers you a chance to experience a more authentic, everyday experience in your destination of choice. This cosy, city-centre apartment definitely falls into the latter category, and it's all the better for it. Of course, there are places you could stay closer to the most famous tourist sights, but here you have the chance to get stuck into real Roman life. Testaccio is the historic home of Rome's slaughterhouses. Once upon a time, its distinctive offal-based cuisine was served out of necessity. Nowadays, it has been elevated to a gourmet delicacy. For lunch, walk ten minutes to Trentatre, a chic cafeteria-style restaurant that serves up wholesome, seasonal dishes at incredibly competitive prices. For food on the go, pick up a trapizzino – a pizza pocket stuffed with sweetmeats. Alternatively, grab a seat at Chec...More Details

    Urban Meadow

The three things that stand out about Urban Meadow are the location, the building, and the balcony. Beyond these, it’s a very comfortable, but not outstanding, place, but once you factor them in, everything changes. It’s on one of the nicest streets in Monti, and is not only impressive from the street, but also from the building’s courtyard. The steel and glass that dominate contrast well with the exterior façade, and the abundance of plants lifts the spirits of the whole area. *We found a couple of water rings on the bedside tables*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room, but they wouldn't have much privacy, and the light does get in in the morning*Given the size of the bedroom, there's a clothes rail rather than an actual wardrobe Air ConditioningBalconyBathtubBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingCooking EssentialsDishwasherElectricity AdaptorsFreezerFridgeHair DryerIronIroning BoardKettleKitchenLif...More Details

Boughs is hard to do justice without experiencing it first-hand. It’s all about the living room, with its wooden beams and terracotta tiles making it a really warm and welcoming space. In comparison, the rest of the flat seems underwhelming - the kitchen’s a bit small, and the bedroom a little spartan - but most things would struggle to live up to that living room. And if that weren’t enough, there’s a level of care that’s gone into the hosting experience at every level, from the mattresses to the toiletries provided. *The kitchen is quite old and very small - it doesn't currently have a freezer or a dishwasher*The interior is on a few levels - you'll have to go up some steps to get to the kitchen or the bedroom*Guests 3 and 4 will be on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBoard GamesBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribElectricity Adap...More Details
