Svanir Wilderness Ecostay
Features: • Garden • Parking
Svanir ( meaning 'Own Nest') is an eco-friendly wilderness homestay hiding in plain sight on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Four spacious cottages constructed from locally available material, mimic traditional tribal architecture and provides for an ideal getaway for the weary traveler. Our homestay is spread across one acre, inviting and cozy, yet large enough for guests can enjoy their own private corners - ideal for those who want to study/work in a quiet environment, or for simply rest after a full day of sightseeing. All rooms have their own private sit-out verandah and large windows with views. A light breakfast is included in the room rate such as juices, tea & coffee, toast and jam, or cereals and milk. Both me and my wife left our jobs and live in Svanir with our one year old son, Ishaan. He is a bundle of energy and keeps us busy all day long. When we don't have guests to entertain, Ishaan loves to spend the entire day running on grass barefoot at a park nearby. I want people to discover the 'Real India' and its people. Did you know that it is often said here after every 100kms of travel we will come across a new dialect, attire and cuisine ? We want our guests to discover that side of India and are happy to give them insight according to their interests. While I'm an avid photographer, Indrani is a wonderful cook. I have found so many interesting subjects to click inside the property itself. Every morning I spend about half and hour photographing butterflies, moths, insects and birds who share this place with us. If guest want I can give them a private lesson on macro photography and how to observe patterns in nature. Indrani loves experimenting with cooking and we encourage guests to share and learn recipes. For guest we try to balance meals so while they sample local cuisine, they are also offered continental, Indian Chinese, bakes etc so that they don't feel homesick. At Svanir we believe in Sustainable Tourism and community development. Drip irrigation, rain water harvesting and no showers in the rooms are just a few of the ways in which we save and recharge ground water. We have local villagers come and work for us- a small way in which we are trying to develop our surrounding through tourism. Please Note: Since I would like to prepare in advance for your stay, to confirm the booking we would need 50% of the booking amount in advance ( fully refundable up to 48hrs in advance)
