I have just returned from St Lucia. My family and I stayed in the Mango Tree. The views are breathtakingly beautiful, the villa has all the facilities a family needs and Joan who greeted us on our arrival was on hand to advise and assist. We could not have wished for a better location.
The Mango Tree villa has full use of the facilities at the Windjammer Landing. Within 5 minutes walk you have restaurants, bar, gym, spa and a beautiful beach including water sports yet the villa is very peaceful, we really did have the best of both worlds. On the rare night we didn't venture out the Windjammer sent us Room Service to the Villa via a Shuttle Bus.
There is plenty of information in the villa relating to the many excursions available on offer in St Lucia. We hired a catamaran for the day, we went Zip Wiring (would recommend) which is approx 30 minutes away from the villa and we visited the Botanical Gardens and the Volcano (this excursion was for a whole day and most of the day consisted of travelling). We went to the Friday Night 'Jump Up' in Gross Islet. The locals are friendly and the food, music and atmosphere is unique! We loved it. Some hotels advise that Friday night 'Jump Up' is visited at your own risk but we didn't experience any problems. Stay on the main streets and arrange for your driver to meet you at the place where they drop you off.
We all had such a fantastic time in St Lucia we will definitely go back and we would definitely stay at the Mango Tree again. A big thank you to Joan for being so kind when we needed her assistance.

Location location location!!! Isn't that what they say in the movies?
This villla has it all. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea with perfect views. A superb villa that comfortably sleeps 8 with all the amenities one could possibly want (except maybe a BBQ). Joan, the owner was so incredibly helpful and approachable throughout the booking process we were highly excited when the day of arrival finally came. Not only did she deliver on her promises but exceeded them. The holiday starter pack of food and basics was a veritable feast. I just cannot recommend this holiday rental any higher. It was a huge hit with all 8 of us who came over to attend our daughter's wedding. Being adjacent to Windjammer Resort we had the use of all their facilities including the shuttle buses which believe me on a hot day are priceless as the hills down to the beach are pretty steep in places. The whole experience surpassed all our expectations and the pictures on this site do not do it justice.
We look forward to coming again sometime and saying hi to Joan once again.
Readers should note that the steps to the villa from above and below are steep so consider this and speak to Joan when looking at a booking.

We just returned from our stay at the Mango Tree Villa. Joan greeted us even though our plane was delayed. She stocked the fridge with enough food for dinner, breakfast, and lunches and didn't even forget condiments! There was beer, wine, soda, and water to boot! Joan and Alan were great hosts and so easy to work with when booking the villa. They are lovely people and we hope to cross paths again! They were informative, laid back, and so easy to talk to. We are a family of 4, with a teenager and a 9 year old. The location was great because of the easy access to Windjammer. We felt like we were part of the resort, but also had our privacy of a stand alone villa! We highly recommend this villa for anyone looking to stay on St. Lucia. It could easily accommodate 2 families. Rent a car and tour the island on your own and definitely check out Cas en Bas for a nice beach and kiting, the volcano and mud baths, Rodney Bay for Italian Ice Cream at Elena',s and don't miss out on the best meal the island has at Flavours on the Grill in Gros Islet! Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the villa or the island.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mango Tree Villa during our time in St. Lucia. Joan's hospitality was outstanding and the amenities are exactly as described. We loved the privacy of having our own pool, and the views are simply spectacular! One of the nicest part was being greeted by Joan upon our arrival, with a fridge full of food, a warm smile, and great tips and suggestions for our time on the island. We would absolutely book there again in the future!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mango Tree. Very spacious, airy living space with fully equipped kitchen and fridge packed with food upon arrival. That was such a sight for sore (red?) eyes after 12 hours of travelling. Joan was super friendly and welcoming and left us with a local mobile for calling taxis and arranging trips.
You can walk down to Windjammers beach in about 7-8 minutes (or ask the shuttle drivers nicely to give you a lift) and do watersports (kayaking, sailing, wakeboarding, diving) from there or just chill out. They basically treat you like you're staying at the resort. There's a nice array of restaurants too and a good cocktail bar for the evenings (or daytime). You can get the local bus into Rodney Bay town for about 50p (~7-8 minute walk away from Windjammers then 5 minutes on the bus) or a taxi from Windjammers for a variety of prices (~10 EC$ per person on average).
I'd definitely recommend this for families and/or groups of people looking for a nice, private villa, not in the middle of the action, but with easy access to the local beach, Rodney Bay, or Windjammers, for watersports and/or party nights!

Joan, the owner, made our holiday perfect from the start by being there to greet us and show us round. The meal that she provided for our first night was most welcome after a long journey as well as all that we needed for breakfast the next day. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to self-cater and we enjoyed many meals at the villa by the pool enjoying the views over the bay. We were 2 couples and the only downside was that there was only one double bedded room but we had plenty of twin rooms to choose from! We loved the birds who were ready and waiting for us to get up in the morning and looking for any crumbs that might come their way! The villa is a peaceful and tranquil place for total relaxation - loved it! Recommend to anyone to do the catamaran sightseeing day trip and a sunset cruise. The beach and facilities at nearby Windjammers Resort are excellent and we were privileged to be able to use these and the shuttle bus service belonging to the resort was most welcome.

We had a lovely stay and truly enjoyed our visit to Saint Lucia. The photos for this property do not do this justice. There were six of us who stayed at this property and we had more than enough room. We didn't even use one bedroom while we were there. Joan was helpful from the very beginning from booking the villa, to arranging airport transfers for us to having dinner, breakfast, wine and some local piton beers in the fridge upon our arrival. The property is right next to the Windjammer Landing Resort which you have beach access to along with water sports, restaurants and bars at your expense. Was nice to be able to use the resort ammenities if you wanted to but if you wanted more privacy and quietness you could relax by the pool. The views of the ocean were beautiful and the villa is just a five minute walk to the beach. You can also call for the resort shuttle to take you down to the beach and bring you back to the villa from the beach if you wish. We opted for a few days to do day excursions from the resort but mostly we spent the morning hours by the beach and returned to the villa pool for the afternoon. I would highly recommend this property and we hope to return to Mango Tree Villa again in the upcoming years!

We stayed here for 2 and a half weeks in febr/march 2015. Joan greeted us and was very warm and welcoming. She took care of such details we never experienced with private hous rental. Such as transport, stocking the frige and giving us a local Phone to use. We celebrated a birthday and a wedding reneval and met up with family who live abroad. We could not have picked a better place for this specail occasion!. The house is located perfectly, the vieuws took our breath away every single day and the Island is very beautifull. The house it self is located on a hill with beautifull vieuws, has a pool and is not overlooked. We loved being in a private place but still having the wind jammer resort so close by and feeling part of that aswell. Thank you again Joan, for making this special holiday so memorabel!

I'm happy that I chose Mango Tree Villa for our family vacation! Not too far from the airport, and our host had emailed directions; though we got lost a bit. Accommodation was exactly as stated, no disappointments there. Our host was there to greet us, and stocked lots of goodies in the fridge for our welcome. Villa is clean, airy, roomy, and comfortable. The pool is gorgeous, and not too deep.
Getting around wasn't difficult either, a rental car did the job. Made it easier to get around the island. Oh, there was use of a shuttle as well, if there was need.
Can't get over that view, especially at sunset.....beautiful!!!!

This was a perfect family holiday retreat we took four teanagers who loved the pool, wifi, the closeness to beach and facilities. The house was clean and well maintained it was large enough to have any large family stay. The views were amazing and beach fantastic!
The hosts were most helpful in booking local restaurants for us which were perfect the kids loved the food and all available within a ten minute drive! The area was lovely the catamaran was a brilliant excursion. We had a great holiday I would happily recommend it to any family visiting St lucia. We are most grateful to the very friendly and knowledgeable hosts for making our holiday so successful!!

We had a great stay at the Mango Tree Villa. The house is big (we were 4 adults and 5 children, aged 2-6) with a spacious kitchen and a quite large pool. We enjoyed being able to use the facilities at Windjammer Landing, including towels for the beach, lunch (we made breakfast and dinner in the house) and the fitness center. It is rare to find a house that also offers "resort qualities". We will definitely consider renting the house again!

Little did we know vacationing in St. Lucia would lead us to meeting you Joan....our little guardian angel. We rented Flambeau Villa off of vrbo #381347ha for two weeks. We had to move out 5 days into our vacation as the house was a Fire Hazard and had many other problems. Joan our little angel was nice enough to let us move into Mango Tree Villa on a days notice when she was doing a few upgrades as house was not rented. Mango Tree Villa is most beautiful...the view with all the beautiful sunsets and sunrises and all the great amenities provided. The special attention and kindness you showed all six of us in spite of our anxieties were most appreciated. You have created a safe haven and great house atmosphere here at Mango Tree.
Thank you for having us to your home in Cap Estate, which is an absolute gem. We had a lovely afternoon, great fun and a delight to interact on a personal level with you, Alan and the puppies.
We are hopeful our paths with cross again. Please do not hesitate to call when you come visit your sister in Wakefield. We would love to meet you for lunch. Again thanks so much for renewing our faith that most people on this earth have a good heart and are trust worthy.

After a dreadful week of numerous problems with the property, our 2 year old grandson fell through the railings surrounding the pool. It is about a 30 foot drop, but brambles surrounding the property broke his fall and he is okay. The owners, took absolutely no responsibility for this safety hazard - their comment was "it has never happened before." The parents were so traumatized that they moved to the Winjammer Resort close to the Mango Tree. Wifi is only available on the main level, the bedrooms are air conditioned, but not the rest of the house, so be prepared with plenty of bug spray or get eaten alive. The closest grocery store is a 20 minute cab drive away and there is nothing to do around the resort, except use the facilities of the Winjammer - who were amazingly nice people. The propane tank stove leaked and the dishwasher broke on the 3rd day, etc., etc., A previous owner had indicated that the property was unsuitable for 2 year olds, but the current owner advertises a high chair and confirmed in writing that the place was safe for children. I should mention that the parents were standing beside their son when this happened.

This is a difficult review to make. I have so much to say about the property but it can be summed up by our second last day. We were told it was safe for young children (before booking), this is not the case. It is potentially deadly for small children. The pool deck rails are too far apart and my 20 month old fell through! HE FELL 30 FEET but thank God his fall was broken by vines growing. My husband and I were right beside him watching and pointing out boats on the sea. The home owner Joan accused us of not watching him carefully. The total point is that he should not be able to fit through the railings! Horrifying experience! I watched my son fall to an unknown outcome. I have flashbacks all the time. It brings me to tears. The human brain always goes to the what ifs.... Upon contacting the property owner Joan, she just said it couldn't have happened as it has never happened before! I wanted my $350 damage deposit back and she didn't even come herself. She sent an employee with a letter saying sorry about your son, no refunds as we were on day six by then. My son could have fallen to his death or serious injury at any point during our stay.
It is hard to tell from the picture that the pool is very close to the main living area. The main living area is not air-conditioned so it is necessary to leave all the doors open and therefore 100% access to a pool at all times. Our 20 month old son and two other children had swimming floatation devices on at all times. There are stairs all over the villa. I was aware that the villa was two stories but it is more than that. There are steps up to the kitchen, down to the main dining room and living room and of course up to the bedroom level. This presents a hazard for a young child trying to follow his parents all over the villa.
The main kitchen is not air-conditioned and very warm for cooking in. The bathrooms are all dated (not a huge deal), two showers leaked, propane tank discovered to leak in one kitchen, Wifi was out for first day and half. Good to know is it only works in the main living space (if this is important to you). Loaner phone ran out of time twice (we did not make a lot of calls) and we could not get ahold of Joan to top it up, we used e-mail to tell her. The same way we had to email her about my son falling through the deck rails.
These were the plethora of problems when we first arrived (in the dark on Saturday night). My father-in-law handled these with the home owner, and I received a call later the same night by Allan (husband of home owner) telling us to leave and stay at the Windjammer. He hung up on me when I tried to tell him the problems. We spent our first evening feeling anxious and sick and talking to a handyman who showed up to deal with one of the problems. We presented him with many more, which he kindly tried to fix. In hind site- which is alway 100%- we should have left.
We chose to leave the house Friday (after my son fell) and stay a night at the Windjammer (a very expensive endeavour) but my son's safety is invaluable. The Windjammer staff are amazing and were horrified at our experience. Stay at the Windjammer. If that is out of the question ($$$), stay somewhere else on the island. St. Lucia is beautiful and all the St. Lucians we met were warm, helpful, funny and happy.
There is more to say, but I will not continue to ramble. Depending the the experience you are looking for (and the age of your children), perhaps the Mango Tree would be your oasis in St Lucia.
Lessons learned for us (my husband and I), we are taking a break from travelling in the immediate future, the almighty dollar does rule for most people (sadly), St. Lucians are kind people. Take the time to chat with a few.
I would not recommend this rental to a friend, as the customer service was poor. It was taken personally instead of in a business sense and when a true emergency occurred, it was brushed aside as our fault.

When you arrive on the island they say" Welcome to the island of paradise" and Mango tree is a great part of that paradise. Joan and Allen were fabulous. We were greeted at the villa after a long day of travelling with 3 small children. They were very accommodating and welcomed us with a warm chicken dinner and some supplies in the fridge. The villa is very clean and spacious. great value for a 4 bedroom. The location is perfect.Access to the Windjammer resort with the privacy of your own separate villa. You can take a short drive to Rodney Bay for restaurants and supplies or you can walk about 15min. to the local supermarket. if you want to explore the island you can book a day trip with the taxi company Joan deals with.We recommend asking for "Bernard" Great guy! as he will tell you"If you need something Bernard will get it for you" All in all it was a great trip. Thanks again Joan and Allen. We will definitely be back!!
