I am very disappointed with Villa Optima's Management. We booked through Airbnb and got confirmation on the booking on Sunday 28th July, and had several text messages with the owner regarding meals etc, right up to two days before we were to check in. We got wind that the place may have been double booked, and queried this. Paolo then said that his wife took another reservation minutes before ours... What he didnt know was that we know the other party and knew they hadnt booked until a whole day later. But they were booking 3 rooms of the villa and I was booking only 2. Paolo did try and offer another "free" weekend but neither did i trust him not to find some way to charge nor did My party have any other time. He cancelled to reservation anyway.

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of major tourist destinations in Jamaica and enjoy peace, tranquility of pristine beaches, then Treasure Beach is your destination. You can explore the many private beaches at your leisure. The people of Treasure Beach will make you feel like you are home among friends. Having stayed at both Negril and Treasure Beach, I would choose again Treasure Beach. Renting the home of Paolio and Tia was ideal for our family. We could experience all the freedom and comfort a private home can provide; and if you want to experience the cuisine of Jamaica, the staff provided by the owners will cater to your desires. B

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Villa Optima. The house, the rooms, the location, the "staff" who welcomed us and became new friends, and the FOOD! We were in Treasure Beach for a wedding and I truly believe we had the best setup of all the other guests that had come in for the event. We reserved the three bedroom villa with two other couples whom we'd never met but were friends of the bride and groom, and the house is setup perfectly. We all had private bathrooms, easy access to our individual suites, and a shared living area, kitchen, and large porch. We had 2 meals prepared for us every day by Monica and Trudy - and we were blown away with every meal. These ladies could seriously open their own catering service and blow other restaurants out of the water :) The location of Villa Optima was incredibly convenient. You are literally across the street from a small beach cove and within easy walking distance to the area's restaurants. And the care these people took with us during our stay is unmatched. The owner, Paolo, even went out of his way to return some sunglasses my husband left - he shipped them back to the US without being asked! If we ever have an opportunity to travel back to Treasure Beach, there is no question about where we would stay. Our love to all at Villa Optima!

Second visit at Villa Optima, we love the place.
The setting is priceless, you cross the road and are on a nice sandy cove with not too much waves, as we have young children we only take a towel / sand toys and if we need to change or feed them we get back (and forth) to house (and beach) in a minute, this is priceless.
At 8 am and as of 5 pm you have the beach all for yourself. Water is clear, you can see fishes close to the rocks, observe crabs, shells (my little one loves it).
There is a nice garden in the property with pond with turtles, koi fishes, frogs (first time my son saw a "real frog", he was over the moon). Also a trampoline (kids love it, we do stargazing at night, the sky is very clear, it's amazing), swings (baby swing is broken though but there is a big kid's swing), slide, even a sturdy plastic tricycle perfect for our 4 y.o.
Bedrooms are nice, there are both home and beach towels in each bathroom, large and of good quality. One of the bathrooms has a bathtub which is nice when you travel with a baby. All rooms have AC except the living room.
Kitchen is working well, we like to bring everything with us so that we know we have everything at hand. Monica the helper / cook is very helpful and smart, she baby sitted our kids twice and averything went well. Paolo and Tia the owners have a true sense of hospitality, they even baked homemade bread for us (and homemade soap as a little gift, very nice).
Do take mosquito repellent, coils, spray and nets as there can be mosquito bites but nothing that will ruin the getaway :) The living room can get hot (as it has no AC but the room is very large so AC would not make sense), but at night it is cool, there are fans in it, and we usually have lunches on the patio where it is shady and there is the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.
Just a perfect getway in family. We treasure the moments and memories collected there.

A most charming cottage with beautiful, spacious rooms, and comfortable amenities, nestled next to a most gorgeousl sea cove, with all of the feelings and impressions of an old and gracious Jamaican coastal village.
Paolo, our host is so gracious and lovely, and our stay was like being with close family. He is attentive to his guests, and respectful of their wants and needs which there.
We highly recommend this vacation rental to locals and overseas guests for a serene and abundantly uplifting experience. Simply, lovely ...

Perfect oceanfront vacation rental. Stayed april 14-20th, 2014 and loved it. Location is great, beautiful secluded beach just a few steps outside the front door. Paolo, the owner, lives next door and was awesome. Very nice and very helpful. He helped us fix a flat tire on our rental car and got a boat for us to go to the Pelican Bar. Monica, the cook, was fantastic. She's a great person, very fun, and her food was amazing. The house, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living area are all very nice. A great place, great beach, great house, and great people. I'd highly recommend it for any vacation.

After visiting Jamaica 6 previous times, we finally decided to venture down to the south coast -- and we are so glad we did! This villa is perfect -- right across from a private beach where the water was sublime. Monica the cooked us delicious meals and cleaned the rooms while we were out during the day. Unlike in Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay etc. we felt totally safe walking the streets of Treasure beach at night. The town is a real find -- unspoiled (so much so that there is no aTM that takes foreign cards, so get cash in Montego Bay) and it has a real local flavor. The locals are super friendly, and there are cute bars and restaurants with music at night. The beach across from the villa is fantastic -- a private little cove where we swam and hung out every day. The roads from Montego Bay to Treasure beach are not the best, so make sure to get a 4 wheel drive car, and make sure your spare tire and jack are intact -- changes are you may need it, as we did! Make sure to take outings to the falls, Black River, and the Pelican Bar and to walk the beach in Treasure Beach, stopping for a Red Stripe or two along the way.

My friends and I decided to do a girls getaway to Jamaica for 10 days. Our first few days were spent in Negril but the last 4 days we decided to relax and book this Villa in Treasur Beach, I must say this was the best choich to have made. On arrival to the property you are welcomed first by the beautiful view of the home and right in fromt is one of the best beaches I have ever seen. The property is kept beyond beautiful it was better than we expected. The family who owns the Villa were some of the nicest people I have ever met and made sure all was perfect for our arrival and during our stay.
All the bedrooms in the Villa were unique and in great conditon as was the rest of the home. The owner Paolo and his wife Tia I believe is her name spoke to us every morning and asked if we were fine and if all was in order but we had no complaints has this was the perfect relaxation we needed after partying in Negril.
I would recommend this Villa to everyone who wants to have that perfect piece of paradise for a moment just to get away from it all or to even relax with friends on a nice vacation. I will most surely be returing to beatiful Jewel in Treasure Beach.

After traveling to Ja for more than 20 years, and only spending 1 night on the south shore before I decided to spend 2 weeks in Villa Optima. I wanted to spend time on the south shore to experience a more mellow vacation in Ja. You will not find the hustle and bustle of MoBay, Ochi or Kingston but a relaxing, comfortable, enjoyable villa where the owners are welcoming from the 1st email. The villa is located on a dead end so it's very quite, safe and relaxing. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need for your stay. That is if you decide to cook if not Monica (who is delightful) will take great care of your needs. The beach is steps always from the villa and so private that you might have it to yourself 80% of the time. The only contact I had with the owners before arrival was but email (could have called) It was very easy, P&T; responded very fast and answered any questions I had. I was happy when they offered to stock the kitchen with groceries before my arrival I just had the settle the bill when I got there . Since TB is really off beaten path that was a great start to a wonderful stay in this new villa. But, if you need anything there is a small market Within walking distance. P&T; live nearby which is very helpful if you need anything and were easily available anytime. I love this villa because it was stocked with games, books, wireless wifi, satellite TV and Dvd's . The beds were really comfortable, AC cold. There was a power outage durring our stay but the generator kicked in so no problem . The villa is within walking distance to Jakes, Jack Sprat which is great to chill and meet locals or any others travellers. So be like us pack your bags, and enjoy a vacation in this wonderful villa. I hope you will find peace and tranquility like my family did. Will miss sitting on the veranda and enjoying the sea view, and P's homemade bread. Happy to say we will be back. Thank you Monica, P &T; for making my birthday special.

Staying at Villa Optima during Christmas vacation was a wonderful treat. The villa has some of the best real estate in all of Treasure Beach. It is steps away from the best swimming cove in the area and a quick car ride (just a few mins) from Jakes--action center for all activities (dining, spa, etc.) in the area. We strongly suggest having renting a car and visiting great bay for long swims and for exploring all the farms and local spots in the area. We love Treasure Beach. We loved staying at Villa Optima (clean, comfy and very low key) and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again. Extra Plus: Sitting on the front terrace and watching the magnificent sunsets!

We stayed with family and friends and it was truly an amazing stay. The villa is very cozy and comfortable, 3 nice size bedrooms with AC of which 2 have king beds and one has 2 beds and 3 bathrooms, one per room. Nice Kitchen, living area and the dining table is set on the veranda. The Villa comes with the outsanding services of Monica and Trudy, they prepare 2 meals per day, you choose between Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. You have to bring the food for them to prepare it for you (which for us it was not a big deal as we stopped on the way and bought lots of local fruits and vegetables, they are easily found when driving thru the country side from Montego Bay to the South Coast) otherwise you can make arrangements with the owner Paolo who offered to purchase items if we needed. By the way, Paolo is customer service oriented gentlemen who took care of all our last minutes requests and provided us with local information. He also hand makes soaps which are used at the Villa, nice touch! The villa is located across the street from the beach but no need to worry there is not a lot of traffic. The beach is outsanding, cristal clear water and not deep at all. The sand is dark but really nice. The Villa also has a pool wich is a nice feature. We had lots of Fun and will be back.

Just returned from 9 night stay at Villa Optima in Treasure Beach Jamaica.
The villa is exactly like the pictures, spotlessly clean and has a well appointed kitchen.
All the bedrooms are air conditioned and spacious with plenty of draw storage and en suit shower, toilet etc. The beds are comfy, although I found mine a little too firm but that's just me being used to memory foam, my husband slept just fine.
Trudy our housekeeper/cook was an angel, warm, friendly, cheerful and helpful.
There is a nice garden with mature trees and a swimming pool at the back with loungers and small tables. The pool was very clean all be it for a few leaves floating which were dropped from the few trees providing much welcome shade. The pool man comes every day except Sunday's to scoop up the leaves clean the filters and check the water quality.
Pool/ beach towels are provided and these are large, soft and fluffy.
The beach was very quiet despite it being a public beach and with a few exceptions locals who use it respect it and remove their rubbish when they leave. There is a lot of coral which has some sharp edges although there are a couple of areas suitable for swimming. Be cautious as there are reefs out in the bay that cause rip currents in the deeper water.
The surrounding area is quite rural and known locally as the bread basket of the island due to the amount of fruit and veg grown there, which supplies the rest of the island.
There's a small local shop about 20 mins walk away for basics like bread, milk etc but the larger supermarkets are a 30 min taxi ride away in Junction. Next to the local shop is a resteraunt called Diners Delight where you can get the best curried goat served with traditional rice and peas, jerk chicken and lots more.
Taxi fares are quite expensive due to high fuel costs and average out at US $150 approx for journeys to places like Junction so if you're brave look in to car hire, although be aware roads are poorly maintained in the rural areas and sometimes prone to flooding in heavy rain.
Paolo and Tia who own the villa live next door and are happy to help if needed, my husband needed a doctor which they arranged and booked us a taxi to take us there, wait then bring us back. They called later that evening to check he was ok, which I thought was nice of them.
This part of Jamaica is, in my opinion, the real Jamaica. If you're looking for bright lights, non stop entertainment and lots of shopping this place will not be for you. If you want to kick back, relax and chill out its perfect paradise

What's Great- beautiful beach and warm Caribbean Sea and few people. Trudy, our cook was a gem and cooked us wonderful Jamaican meals. Beautiful home with great veranda and lovely pond in front yard.
What's not so great- Treasure Beach is very far from Montego Bay and just about any tourist attraction you want to see. DO NOT RENT A CAR! The roads are narrow, filled with potholes, very poor signage and they drive on the left. You will need to rent a taxi or a tour company to go anywhere. There is very little to do in Treasure Beach except swim and hang around the house. Trudy does not have a car so you will need to buy groceries yourself.
What's bad- The mosquitoes were very bad and we were bitten alive and woke up with many bites in the mornings. There was no bed net above our bed and the screens in the bathroom had some holes where bugs got in. I used DEET and Sawyers' and nothing helped. The hot water heater broke while we were there and it was 3 days before it was fixed. We were told we would have a cook and a maid but in reality, we only had one person who did both things. That meant that we had to scrounge around for toilet paper when it ran out, make our own beds daily, and sweep the floors which were very sandy. And it was very very hot.
Is it for you?- If you like isolation and few people and not much outside distractions, this is the place for you. We stayed 10 days, way too long.

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Optima for our 10th anniversary. The location is near perfect, just steps to the beach for a swim and amazing sunsets and a short walk or drive to the many shops and restaurant in the area. We enjoyed great Jamaican food, and service from Trudy, who was always warm and very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed playing in the pool which was immaculately tended to by Natty (sp?). The garden is absolutely lovely and Errol, the gardener was very considerate to wait for our teen aged son to wake before mowing the lawn. Paolo and Tia are excellent hosts. They provided many little extras, such as freshly made bread and honey, pizza and handmade guava soap. When we arrived they were celebrating their daughter's birthday and even sent over some cake for us to enjoy!
Treasure Beach is extremely quiet and serene with friendly people. If you want to chill and experience relaxation there is no better place to be and Villa Optima is a cozy and comfortable home away from home.

Will remember this vacation forever. Trudy wore many hats, my personal psychologist, chef, housekeeper and friend. Her cooking was excellent and have not ate that healthy in quite some time. Her positive outlook on life was inspiring. Sorry for locking the door the last morning!! Paolo, Tia, and Fran were like family. Had us over for Christmas dinner and also had awesome presents in the Villa upon our awakening on Christmas morning "totally unexpected". Paolo and Tia pulled out all the stops during this Christmas holiday with many unexpected gestures such as a jar of honey made from their own bee hive boxes, homemade natural soap, local fruit, and many other meaningful acts of kindness, to many to remember. Very lovely people! They also included us on a trip with some of their own family members to black river for a personal tour and a crab feast that was unforgettable. Tia and Fran brought us on a beautiful night walk down to the local Christmas tree lighting to hang with some super cool locals, the stars in the sky were amazing. Fran hanged with me and the kids all week giving us the grand tour of treasure beach. Thanks Fran!! we'll write ya and miss ya girl, your a cool kid. Aside from the excellent hosts, TB is majestically beautiful and basically unspoiled by tourism, very quite and peaceful. TB is off the beaten path, but that basic premise is a complete necessary in order maintain the magic and charm that it holds. As far as privacy Paolo, Tia and Fran were very respectful in giving us our space and we probably wouldn't of even heard from them if we didn't inquire. Could go on and on. Will miss it. Hope to be back.

Had the pleasure of staying at Villa Optima and have to say we had a fabulous time. 5 adults in a three bedroom, each room was very comfortable, each with our own en suite bathroom and so much room to roam. Spacious villa with a fabulous wrap around verandah that leads to the pool in the back. Meals provided were delicious and second to none. The girls would arrive early each day and have breakfast on the table in no time. They cleaned up while we ate and were gone until dinner. Could not have had any better meals anywhere! The property is at the end of a quiet road with a beach for swimming right out front. We walked into town daily and even did a huge beach walk to Great Bay one day viewing all of the many properties along the way. Would return in a heartbeat!!!

Stayed at Villa Optima Jan 26-Feb 4th, 2018 and was an amazing time. I have never rented from the home owner directly so was a little scared, but Paolo made the experience perfect and was there to answer any questions pre-arrival. We had them do the grocery shopping and was open with what was made (No shellfish, goat or salt fish only requests). Shanique was the cook/housekeeper and what an amazing job she did. Food was AWESOME. Out of the nine days we had no repeat of meals. We ate 2 meals per day (4 people) and finally grocery bill was $312 (no drinks). We thought that was more then reasonable. I want to throw out a big THANK YOU to Tia as she went out of her way to find us beach chairs. That was a great addition. We will definitely be back in the future. Paolo, Tia and Shanique thank you for making our vacation special.

Nine days of pure bliss enjoying this charming villa in Treasure Beach. The house itself was nice, I especially enjoyed the soft sheets on the bed. Paolo and his wife Tia were wonderful hosts, bringing over fresh bread and beach chairs for us. Shanique created the most delicious meals...breakfast and dinner, except for the times we took scooter into town for lobster. I wish I had her recipes...her curry dishes are out of this world! I even learned a trick for mashed potatoes from her.
The practically private beach is just a few steps across the driveway...make sure you catch the sunsets. Charter some tours with Captain Joseph and ask James to drive you to Lovers Leap during your stay if you can pull yourself away from the beach, pool, or verandah. We are looking forward to our next trip to Villa Optima. Treasure Beach, and the people of Jamaica have become dear to us.
