avatar Excellent lodge, excellent location
Rating: (5) rate
Stayed here with my partner and 2 children in the October break, lodge was lovely and so cosy. Had everything we needed and more, there has been great attention to detail. Welcome pack on arrival was a great start for us. Location is perfect for exploring and as it is such a quiet, peaceful location, the girls enjoyed our cycling on the roads nearby and going down to the Loch. A perfect holiday if you want to get away from the fast pace of life and be surrounded in natural beauty. The sunsets and sunrises are amazing. Below is the photos of the sunrise we wakened up to.

Stayed at Rymmon lodge for two weeks in April. The lodge is in a rural location, next to but separate from the owners house. Marion and John have worked hard to ensure this - it will feel even more separate when the landscaping matures but you are still apart anyway. Good views across the loch, particularly for sunsets and birdwatching. The lodge itself was equipped to a high standard and very comfortable. A welcome pack of essentials was provided on arrival which was really appreciated although shops aren't too far away (Dounby 20 min, Kirkwall 30 mins). We had some changeable weather while we were there but did not get cold, it can get very cosy even though the lodge was quite roomy although I would say if you are over 6ft (my husband is 6ft 6"), you might struggle for space in the en-suite bathroom! The main bathroom is fine! There is a space for sitting outside and a barbecue if you got the weather for it. On a sunny calm evening this would be lovely. Unfortunately we didn't quite get the opportunity! Excellent location for the West Mainland attractions but still easy to visit everywhere else, we did plenty of exploring. Overall we loved the place, great base to stay in and Marion and John could not have been more helpful. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

We stayed at Rymmon Lodge for Christmas 2015 and had the most lovely time. The quality of the accommodation was excellent and even though it was wild and windy outside the Lodge was snug and cosy. The owners could not have been more helpful and welcoming and the facilities were tremendous. We look forward to going back in the summer and enjoying the outside amenities.

We went for a quiet time, we certainly got that. The cabin was excellent along with our hosts. They left us a starter pack which was great. It was like a home from home, very comfortable with patio doors leading onto decking then to the barbecue area. A short drive to Stromness and Kirkwall. Ideally placed to get around easily. If you book this cabin I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in any form. I as a person do not like holidays but I must admit it was hard to leave.

A hidden gem. Quiet, peaceful with a great view of the loch but well situated to explore the island, Kirkwall half an hour away and stromness about the same with everything else in between. The lodge itself is very well equipped, the owners have put a lot of thought into all the practical bits and pieces that make it a home from home. If you want a rest then this is the place to go.

A great place to get away from it all! John and Marion are extremely welcoming and helpful. The Lodge is well designed and equipped, comfortable and cosy with great views of sky, loch and moor. We had a really good week here.

Having travelled here for my Fathers birthday in June we were blown away with the situation of the lodge and by the welcome given to us by the owners who could not be more helpful and left a wonderful welcome basket of local produce, this is just what we needed to enjoy a nice relaxing break on the beautiful Island of Orkney. I would highly recommend the lodge to friends and family if they wish a quiet get away from it all break

Remote, but an easy drive to everywhere. Tranquil and so very comfortable. If it was hotel rated then 5*++. Every detail was perfect (we went round the shops looking for the soaps and body wash - just needed to take some home). Marion and John are the best hosts - always there if you need something (the extra eggs were so welcome). The BBQ area was lovely. We chose a week where the weather wasn't the best, but it didn't matter. We were warm and cosy in the Lodge. Lovely views and sunsets to die for. If you want to experience Orkney then this is an excellent base to start from. Check the weather on the big TV, facebook your mates and plan tomorrow. It's all available at Rymmon Lodge.

avatar Exceptional property in a superb location

Rymmon Lodge is the perfect place to stay whilst in Orkney. The accommodation is extremely spacious and the lodge is very well-equipped, It has everything you could need, and more (loved the walk in wardrobe!). The location is great; so close to the Broch of Gurness and Birsay, two wonderful historic sites. The sites of Skara Brae, Maes Howe and the Ring of Brodgar, Ness of Brodgar and the Stones of Stenness (all must sees) are also not too far away. Marion and John are perfect hosts; thank you. The view from the lodge is wonderful and how lovely to be greeted by the hens and horses each morning. We had never been to Orkney before but would love to return one day. We had the most wonderful holiday and Orkney is such a special place. We loved it. We can't recommend Rymmon Lodge highly enough; it's a very special place to stay in a very special place.

avatar Wonderful base for exploring Orkney

This Lodge was perfect for our family holiday. The owners have taken great trouble to ensure everything you might reasonably need is provided. The lodge is clean, warm and comfortable. It is a little off the main road (along a side road, in good condition) so perfectly quiet. We enjoyed the view to the loch, the birds, the many historical sites of Orkney and the beaches, especially Evie beach about 10 minutes away. We would love to return one day.

avatar A gem of a holiday home in an idylic location

As we approached our holiday home in Evie, we knew that we had chosen well, with the tranquil location and lovely setting near the Loch of Swanny. We went to collect the keys from the nearby owners home and were greeted by Marion and John who invited us in for a cup of tea after our long journey. We then went into the holiday lodge and it was spotlessly clean and so well laid out, including a welcome pack and bits in the fridge. We had 5 comfortable nights stay and cannot fault anything with the lodge and its facilities. Marion and John had thought of everything to make our stay as enjoyable and trouble free as possible. A credit to them both. A memorable stay.

avatar Fabulous, self contained and fully featured comfortable home

We had a lovely stay with excellent hosts- Marion and John. Their home had everything in place to enjoy the beautiful landscape. We found the house outfitted with great books, all the implements to make simple meals and our daughter enjoyed having a bike to explore the area around provided by John. The horses and chickens combined with the wildlife made the trip extra special. We are looking forward to returning again.

avatar A jewel tucked away from the mainstream!

It's a lovely little cabin in pristine condition. It's a bit like the Tardis though as it has every facility you could wish for. It sits on a quiet farm road ducked out of the rain and gales - which can feature in an autumn visit. A welcome awaits from Marion and John who take an enormous pride in their holiday let. Located near a large inland loch with trout fishing, it is also in close proximity to of many of the islands ancient archeological treasures. Kirkwall and Stromness are but 25 minutes drive and if we have one complaint - time just passes too quickly. What a lovely holiday we had! Can't wait to go back. Andrew Joanna and the girls.

Well, it's our last day today and i can honestly say it's been one of the best breaks we've had. The Lodge is beautifully presented with everything you will need for any length of stay and the welcome pack that awaited our arrival was just the job to set you up. The setting and views of the Loch are overwhelming and great to wake up to on a morning. Just what you need to set you up for the day ahead. Our visit to Orkney was a first but it will not be our last as there is so much to see and do. We will be back and we will be staying in Rymmon Lodge again in the not too distant future. That we can promise. But finally i must give a big shout out to our hosts John and Marion who could not have been more helpful and made our stay as special as it was this Easter. Kevin and Adrienne Collier
